Breaking It Down - The Beths on Mars, God of War

Back with another series of Breaking It Down, we've had the pleasure of sitting down with a number of incredible local artists to hear their stories, tips and tricks.
So far we have sat down with Six60, JessB, Devilskin, Foley, Rodney Fisher (Goodshirt), and Cut Off Your Hands to talk writing, recording, and releasing. Here's the place for you hear how the pro's do it!
Next up - we were very lucky to have Liz Stokes of The Beths come in to talk about their song 'Mars, God of War'.
The Beths are a 4-piece indie-pop band based in Tāmaki Makaurau. For their album Jump Rope Gazers they won Album of the Year, Best Group, and Best Alternative Artist at the 2020 Aotearoa Music Awards.

Liz has a great philosophy on how they do things. So very refreshing to see real music from real musicians. Back in 1969 ( dating myself) my wife and I saw John Denver perform for free to promote his first RCA album to a huge crowd of 50 at the college we were attending here in Wisconsin USA. That is how he did it and it worked. Journeyman musicians !!!
