So I have a theory about this song that you guys may have missed. i could be wrong here, but i think the song is structured on the 5 Stages of Grief (aka the Kubler-Ross model) The song starts with DENIAL, the whole beginning of the song he talks about how he doesnt need saving, and doesnt need healing. ANGER, The tone turns aggressive as he starts talking about how he'll "put shots in your frame" for criticizing him, how his gang run the streets, and they are the ones putting pressure BARGAINING, the song suddenly turns upbeat, and Dave starts to talk about the kind of life he wants and deserves, how he has earned it, and is in a way owed that life, DEPRESSION, then comes the inevitable crash straight into depression, and the music follows that crash as well, and he starts to talk about all his insecurities. ACCEPTANCE, right at the end where he comes to terms with his past and there is a small resolution, he seems to drop the facade and get real.
@@ReactionTherapyOfficial I'd love to hear your reactions to either Mic Righteous or Akala's Fire In The Booth sessions. Akala 1&4 are incredible. 3&4 for Mic Righteous.
Perhaps that is the case in specific genres like this (UK Rap), but many of the biggest selling acts of all time in America have been Brits. Pink Floyds "Dark Side of the Moon" was in the US Billboard Album charts for about 15 consecutive years!
Dave was very clever with this record. The opening is sad and angry, quickly into a happy upbeat verse then back into sad and depressed. Shows the rollercoaster of emotions most people deal with on a daily basis
You could analyse about 95% of daves work like this he's a remarkably honest and frank young man who has insight way beyond his years. Plus his music is just genius. One of the greatest rappers ever.
This whole album is supposed to reflect a psychodrama therapy session. After and before each song the therapist comes back in asking questions and the songs are the response. The reason he did this is because his older brother got life in prison when he was 16 and part of his brother's sentence was psychodrama therapy

Hi Tom, you were wondering what happened to Dave. Dave suffered a lot in his life. His father was deported trim UK so his mum was left homeless with 3 young boys, Dave was just born. Mum worked very hard to provide for them and they were poor. When Dave was 11, his brother Chris who was 16, was part of a school group of around 30 kids who chased and murdered a 15yr old Sofyan RIP (it was a school on school beef), in the busy train station in the middle or the day in front of many cameras and commuters. Although 9 of the group actually committed stubbing and most others didn't, feds decided to use a law called "Joint enterprise" which punished anyone involved in this murder even if they didn't directly do it. Chris was sent to prison for minimum 18 years. Dave strongly believes Chris didn't commit the actual stubbing and is against Joint enterprise as it punishes people who didn't commit the end crime. This has had a huge impact on Dave and family. Grandma died from stress. His mother wanted to commit suicide. Dave at age 11 had to deal with courts and lawyers, losing a beloved brother (who was his father figure), murder case, family stress and make sense of it all. He had to grow up too fast. Around that time his third brother himself committed fraud and was sent down as well. So poor mum did what she had to do. Locked Dave pretty much indoors to prevent him also going the wrong way, bought him a piano Dave wanted, and Dave self learned piano alongside a school friend. He said he was bored so read dictionaries a lot. Rapping came a year after learning piano, where Dave found a way to express his emotions through music. His first performance was on Blackbox music you tube channel which was showcasing new talent. He was barely 16 but his rapping was way beyond his age. It is my favorite Dave performance ever, it is very different to Dave's music today, and it is full of anger and passion, and also pain and frustration over his brothers incarceration. I cannot recommend it more, its on UA-cam. His second Blackbox is also powerful. He quickly became the one to watch out for. People wanted to hear what he had to say. People love his word play and his rapping style. People love his piano playing. People love his ability to be honest and emotionally intelligent, because he can say it in a cool street manner. He is one of the very few rappers who can say he cried and still be cool. He knows how to tell the stories that we can relate to. In my view Daves internal suffering is not finished, that he is still torn. He now has money and has paid his mums bills, but Chris is still in jail. He loves him and misses him and that is often stated in Dave's songs. Chris is supportive of Dave's success, which was recorded and put on Dave's album in the outtro. But I can just imaging that Dave can never relax and enjoy fully cos he knows where Chris is, and similarly, it must be hard for Chris to watch this from jail but not be able to participate. The good things in his life apart from his loving mum, are a bunch of his childhood friends, who were with him before he was famous, and they are in most of his videos and mentioned a lot in his songs. Dave said he would give his life for them. I'm glad Dave had such great friends going through all the suffering. He also has 3 dogs, who as we know are a great emotional support, as well as making him laugh. I hope that once Chris is out, Dave can allow himself to be truly happy.
Thank you for doing a UK artist! I’m a fan from the UK and I’ve been watching since your first juice wrld video, I’d love to see you react to more Dave songs, especially “Lesley” it’s a very intense song but it touches on domestic abuse which I don’t think I’ve seen you react to yet, keep up the great work :)
Great reaction as always! So pleased to see some Dave on the channel, he really is different, super talented lyricist! I know you said you’re a ‘beginner’ but you’re catching on really quickly - Dave isn’t an easy artist to break down, especially if you’re not from the UK as the accent is quite strong, the slang words are different and Dave packs to much into his verses! The whole Psycho-Drama album is supposed to be Dave talking to a therapist so really cool concept for you to react to! His live performance of ‘Black’ from The Brit Awards is outstanding, it’s be great if you checked it out. It’s very different - just Dave and a piano at first and the issues he raises and social commentary he speaks on are so important. The performance moves me to tears every time! Oh, and ‘barmy’ in the UK means, like ‘crazy’ or ‘mental’ - UK slang! Lol!
The change in beat, flow and lyric topics is to represent different mood swings. Please do a deep dive into Dave’s music if you can, he is a complex person who has been through a lot in his life and really puts his energy and feelings into his music. wew, interesting channel. Geto Boys - Mind playing tricks on me'' is also a good interesting classic song to listen to. Or Viro the Virus - Heartless (Viro unfortunately actually killed himself, still one of the saddest songs I know, because of this fact. Still would like to hear your opinion about some of the lyrics) Nas - Drunk by Myself Dave is also a very interesting artist. He often talks about the stuff he's been dealing with in the past, or hints at PTSD, like in ''Panic Attack'', ''Heart Attack'' or ''My 19th Birthday''
Excellent writer Dave is. Tough for you with the UK lingo. The crow in a Rubicon was a great bar, food is slang for weed. They were hiding weed in the Rubicon juicebox to sell it. That's how they put their food in the fridge. Really hope you listen to heart attack. It's an extremely powerful stream of consciousness. Black is another great one, a UK man's take on the racial climate. Good video man, thanks!
I would recommend listening while reading the annotations on Rap Genius. And then do a Re:Reaction. Because there's a lot of great things you're missing. For example..Chro is weed he was hiding in a drink of rubicon(a drink in the uk ). He want to school with rich kids and was selling them drugs to feed himself
Great reaction, another great artist with a very difficult upbringing from the UK is Mic Righteous. Would love to see you react to Mic Righteous - 3rd Degree where he goes over his early life.
"3 Gs in the ring, call me Alvarez" might as well be his reference of Canelo Alvarez who held 3 different titles when Dave wrote this song. Meaning Dave was referring himself as one of the top artist in Uk Hip hop's scene if not the best because Canelo is simply a beast or one of the greatest boxer in Boxing world history.
Idk if anyone else wrote this, but u said what he was like when he was younger. I think most people would be surprised at how young Dave actually is. 23 years old. So probably 20 or younger when this was made.
Great video, helps understand what these artists are about. Should take a look at Lil Peep - Life Is Beautiful some time, I think it would be a good song to analyze :)
It’s interesting when I’m also listening to these artists for the first term properly with you 😂 I usually half listen if a song like this comes on the readio or on Spotify. But it’s fun analysing the meaning of some of those lyrics 😂 it does some exhausting though 😂
I could be wrong but i think Dave's farther got deported when he was younger and both of his older brothers were sent to prison, one for his involvement in a murder. His mother has had a rough life also, living on the streets for years and potentially being a drug addict, Dave's mentioned in other songs that his mother was suicidal. So broken home to say the least, also from a rough part in London and involved with gangs, drug dealing and bank scamming. Incredibly talented and also saw success from a young age, first making a pretty big name for himself at around age 16-17 then having Drake remix one of his songs at 18, then going from strength to strength since. There's loads of great Dave songs to check out but IMO some of his more overlooked songs are his best, id recommend Environment & Survivors Guilt.
Please react to more Dave! He's an incredible lyricist. I recommend his songs called Heart Attack and We're All Alone
I wondered if anyone else knew Dave he go hard.

DEPRESSION, then comes the inevitable crash straight into depression, and the music follows that crash as well, and he starts to talk about all his insecurities.
ACCEPTANCE, right at the end where he comes to terms with his past and there is a small resolution, he seems to drop the facade and get real.

wew, interesting channel.
Geto Boys - Mind playing tricks on me'' is also a good interesting classic song to listen to.
Or
Viro the Virus - Heartless (Viro unfortunately actually killed himself, still one of the saddest songs I know, because of this fact. Still would like to hear your opinion about some of the lyrics)
Nas - Drunk by Myself
Dave is also a very interesting artist. He often talks about the stuff he's been dealing with in the past, or hints at PTSD, like in ''Panic Attack'', ''Heart Attack'' or ''My 19th Birthday''
I’ve recommendations, thanks for watching!😊👍
Please listen to “my 19th birthday”. It goes into Seth about his personal life and his experiences.
Thank you to the Americans who know who My mates are
React to:
More Dave: two sides of a smile, we are all alone, heart attack
Trippie redd: Underwater flyzone, together, abandoned
he really started feeling it when the beat dropped 🤣🔥 dave does that to people
Please finish this album and the new album too they are incredible musically and lyrically
Wow moving on too Uk is another language but nice job
Dave - Survivors Guilt
Please react to "Name in the sand", "I" and "Breathe" by Lil Skies!
love this!
Thanks so much!😊👍
Lesley by Dave is an incredible song listen to the end the vocals are angelic!
Great video! Dave is so good
Pls more Dave! Great reaction, Dave - My 19th birthday, Dave - heart attack
G Herbo - PTSD ft Juice WRLD & Chance The Rapper & Lil Uzi Vert
Talking about the beat making you happy, have you always been a fan of rap or is it a more recent thing?
Old school rap…run DMC!!😂😂
psychodrama is the type of therapy dave's brother is receiving in jail (serving life). the whole album was inspired by dave's brother
“Barmy” = mad/crazy/insane
I really enjoyed this reaction. Thank you
I would recommend listening while reading the annotations on Rap Genius. And then do a Re:Reaction. Because there's a lot of great things you're missing. For example..Chro is weed he was hiding in a drink of rubicon(a drink in the uk ). He want to school with rich kids and was selling them drugs to feed himself
GGG and canelo Alvarez are boxers..
Great reaction, another great artist with a very difficult upbringing from the UK is Mic Righteous. Would love to see you react to Mic Righteous - 3rd Degree where he goes over his early life.
Yes bro keep the Dave coming
Dave - how I met my ex. Beautifully written
YOU NEED TO REACT TO DANCE WITH THE DEVIL BY EMORTAL TECHNIQUE
Dave is awesome. You should check out Dave Lesley and Dave heart attack or panic attack
Love this 🙌🏻
so great
Thanks Jonas😊👍
I didn’t know this existed. What a cool channel Im subscribing
It’s interesting when I’m also listening to these artists for the first term properly with you 😂 I usually half listen if a song like this comes on the readio or on Spotify. But it’s fun analysing the meaning of some of those lyrics 😂 it does some exhausting though 😂
Challenging but fun!!😊👍
Dave has next level skills
You should react to Screwface Capital by Dave. It's a great song
