I’ve got a minolta 50mm F1.4. It is over 40 years old. However, it is in mint condition. The condition is even better than my newly bought lenses which surprises me over and over again.
Yes. I recently inherited two AI-S Vivitar zooms from the 70’s. They were my grandfathers, passed down to my father, who recently gave them to me. 28-135mm f/3.5 and 60-300mm f/5.6. They both have macro capabilities and are absolutely amazing. I loved them so much I bought a Vivitar 28mm f/2.5 prime. edit: apertures
If you like Pentax lenses , you will love using them with Pentax cameras, they are really fun and reliable and pack a lot of technology and become a niche product because of their top level optical view finder.
Conversely, I inherited a 40 year old Leica 35mm f1.4 lens. I was blown away when I saw what it was worth. I converted it over to my R5, but it really just made me appreciate modern optics so much more. While small and lightweight, the Leica wasn't very impressive. I actually think I had better results adapting an old Nikon prime that was worth $25.
If the Leica lens was for M mount, using it on a Canon mirrorless camera is suboptimal. M mount rangefinder lenses, particularly older designs, do not work well on Canon mirrorless. A 40 year old Summilux 35 does have some glow wide open, even if used on a Leica M body.
@@FrankyFeedler Yea but it actually got me in a but of trouble at an Airport in Germany once. For some reason mine is actually quite allot radioactive (not deadly dangerous just more than usual)

I only shoot 35 mm film, because I just don’t like the feeling of digital photography. I have a similar lense on my Nikon fm and on my contax 139q. I love them. They are just so good for everyday carry, as they are not that long. Also they provide a range of uses that I don’t get from any other lenses I ever used. Short: if you like to shoot manually, get a 55mm 1.7 or something similar
If you have a 3D printer you can reduce the price by 3d printing the lens mount adapter (as long as it's almost the same length) because due to manuals focus and apertures 😆
Luckily, Pentax has one of the longest flange distances for a full frame system (and it's the same on their aps-c systems) so basically any camera can have an adapter made for K-mount lenses :D

I had a Minolta MD 50mm f1.7 and it had a very different character. Now I have a Sigma 56mm f1.4 but the feel it gives is not even close 😂
I have a Pentax m zoom and 28mm prime. They are beautiful. Ricoh, the company that eventually took over Pentax, also made some great lenses that are basically Pentax glass under the brand name Rikenon.
I just found your YT channel and Subscribed. Great tips in these shorts... I was wondering where you get your user ratings for these lenses. Could you post a link to this resource for us please?
You can also use them on a beautiful Pentax LX, MX, K1000 and hopefully create images that don’t look like 99% of sterile Instagram digital images. Film rules.
I'm not making videos for influencers but OK. Ah, are you an influencer maybe? It's not that hard. Just try it, you'll see, you should be able to do it 👍🏻
It’s not that hard. Pick an aperture that gives you the depth of field you want. Then you can set the shutter speed for handheld or tripod use and let the camera pick the ISO. Adjust as necessary if you are shooting subject in motion. Most cameras have focusing aids. Some are really easy to use.

I have the -A version of that lens sitting on my desk at this very moment .. out of all my vintage 50's it's probably my favorite.
I literally have a vintage Nikon lens that came with my in-laws Nikon N2000 film camera. My fav nifty 50

Best short yet. Lenses, like cars, aren't necessarily better as a manual but can give you better results with practice.
💯🔥
manual cars ARE better wym
I love my old Nikkor lenses from the 60s, 70s, and 80s adapted to my XT3. Also I’m 40 as well.
🔥 ooo I have the Asahi Pentax and they are sharp and beautiful.
I have the pentax 28mm 2.8
I think I've used it more than any of my autofocus lenses due to its size and that vintage charm 👍🏻

ive got an m42 smc takumar, one of the nicest lenses i own, and honestly, manual controls isnt a downside for me, i actually prefer it.
Awesome, love vintage lenses i will try to find these here, also you look 28 tbh and you crushing it on UA-cam at 40 that gave me hope 🎉

I have the same 50mm but its f 1.4 and it's a gorgeous piece of glass and produces stunning images.
And it’s radioactive for that extra kick

As Pentax user I can confirm they are great 😃. There are Takumars also. Not as cheap but they at same level maybe even better
Vintage lenses for the win, Astro too
You’re 40? I’m gonna be 30 and I look way older 😂 good on you! And dope lenses. I have a few :)
don't many eat junk food bro

Usually cheaper do buy a old camera with the lens on, than just a lens ^^ (sometimes)
I recommend Canon FD 55mm f/1.2 SSC
I love a fast 55 I will for sure check that out
To think I got one of these lenses with the Pentax camera and a telephoto lens all for $25 is nuts to me
Glad i saw this short

I like that sigma lens a lot but its too clinical. Its extremely sharp at the cost of lacking something else.
I have a 50mm f1.8 one. Really nice.
Shout out to the Pentax forums for real. The best

Current Canon won't shoot with 'dead' lenses. I tried 6D mk ii with a plastic Holga for EF and it just blinked at me.
Just asking for my information: what would be the reason to use a vintage lens ?
fun
Try Minolta rokkor series ;-)
You will be amazed
Correction: you can not use it on nikon, it has a different focuspoint, so the mirror will crash into the lens even if you can mount it
mirrorless 🤷🏻♂️
