- FLIGHT CROSSAIR SAAB 340B HB-AKA ZURICH-LEIPZIG
Summer time is flying time.
Winter time is editing time.
I am now starting to work on my oldest footages, starting in 1993, using Hi8 analogue tapes. Quality is partially horrible and editing and scene cutting this material is a true nightmare. Nevertheless it is worth its while taking all the trouble to save these memories for the future.
This inflight video features a flight onboard Crossair from Zurich to Leipzig. Crossair set new standards and earned a high reputation for its excellent inflight service a quarter of a century ago.
History of Saab 340B HB-AKA
Airframe 160 was manufactured 1989 with test registration SE-F60
and delivered to Crossair, registered HB-AKA, September 15, 1989.
Sold to Moldavian Airlines, registered ER-SGC, August 3, 2001. Sold to Loganair and registered G-LGNI, April 25, 2005. Operated for Flybe under the same registration after October 26, 2008 and is reported active.
Enjoy with me the Sights & Sounds of Classic Aviation.

HB-AKA Saab 340B (340B-160), the first B model built (300 Saab 340B's were built 160-459). It is now registered as G-LGNI of Flybe (Loganair) and is still flying today in a purple paint scheme.
Back then, in videos, the propellers actually turned! Today you have a hard time finding this quality.

I can't believe they served such a meal for such a short distance with real glasses, knives and forks.... Was this business class?
Free Champagne included!!!
I once chartered an SF-340A for a pleasure flight around Switzerland. It was great.
it was one class C or Y! what ever was in your ticket! LX was known for its superb inflight service!
