Had a killer conversation about this track with Pepper backstage after a show in Atlanta. His passion for the song, sound and style was infectious. They really are so underappreciated in the world of Rock. The guys have always been super cool with fans and as humble as anyone you would meet. FLY ON!!! FLY ON!!!!
Seriously. Met them in Austin a few years ago, they hang out after the show, shoot the shit, sign your merch an treat you like a bro the whole time. Classy all the way.
@@ThrashMetalStudio You might have just caught him on an off day. I have met him many times and he has always been gracious and humble. They have all been great with me. Hate you had a less-than-perfect experience. Maybe he will make it up to you next time.
@@BillCoz Oh wow, I was off by a year. That's a good reason to act like a complete ass to you I guess. Doesn't change the fact they deserve to be bigger. Suicidal Tendencies and D.R.I both released their first albums in 1983. I apologize for the confusion asshole.
@@pitleveler9952 They were punk on their first album, their second album was crossover thrash, their third album I would call thrash, after that I'm not sure what genre I'd put them. They were like some thrashy, groovy, southern blues metal band. They wore all their influences.
@@Gregbaltzer I also lov pepper Keenan in Down. He's not the most technical player but I love how he flows with Kirk windstein's super-heavy chug style.
I’ve been a corrosion fan since I was 14… I’m 41 now… so i ain’t bullshittin when I say this is some of the best sounds from Pepper I’ve ever heard!! Amazing ❤🤘🏼
They’re even better live. Saw them several years ago in the UK at a small alley club show and they blew the doors off the place. Worth the price if you get a chance, especially if they bring great support.
I've been listening to Skynyrd ever since I heard Sweet Home Alabama on AM radio in 1974 and you guys did this song beautiful... it definitely fucking rocks!!
Been a huge Skynyrd fan since I first heard "Second Helping" in 1974. Lynyrd Skynyrd was, without a doubt, the greatest American Rock N' Roll Band of the 70s. Ronnie and the boys developed a sound that has yet to be pinned down. I have heard countless bands over countless years try and cover their songs, nearly all failed at capturing that "spark" that so ignited fans whenever a barefooted Ronnie Van Zant stepped up to that mike to unleash his boys and his band. "On The Hunt" was always one my top favorites- from the fantastic crunching guitar riffs, to Leon's punchy, sliding bass, pounding drums, keyboards, Gary Rossington's fantastic, killer slide solos, and of course, Ronnie's vocal- Wow! Having said all that- I was not expecting what I just heard- you guys did justice to one of the greatest rock bands- and songs- of our time. This really rocks! Nicely done!
Pepper sings on a version of Tuesday’s Gone too (with Metallica and some others). He also sings on a killer version of Cheatin’ Woman with The Mystic Krewe of Clearlight.
@@o7habits124 Pepper era CoC are basically Skynyrd from the 1990s and 2000s, even though Skynyrd are still around, lol. 1990s alt rock was basically a do-over of the 1970s, hahahah. Great stuff!
Right!!! Since 2015. I found it, posted it all over and have been enjoying it since then. Then with the reissue people are acting like it’s new. Did the band remaster it?
This band blew my mind from the first time I heard them, back in 1996, I was a teenager and I loved the Deliverance Album, I dream of being able to enjoy them live. Greetings to all the fans from Quito - Ecuador... Fly On 🤟
Never heard of them until this morning saying it on Facebook listen to the on the hunt I think they did an excellent job is Skynyrd I will be listening to them from now on I'm sure I will start right now😊😊😊
If you just heard them now this is hardly reminiscient of their sound. The started as a hardcore punk band then slowly became more metal, then they started adding in the southern rock influences, which they've kinda stuck with except for a short period when the singer was playing guitar in the band Down and they went back toward their earlier punk sound mixed with Sabbath for a couple of albums. Now that Pepper is back the Southern influences came back with him. If you like raw punk crossover get the Animosity album, if you like the sound of this cover song more then get Deliverance instead.

This is simply a very bad ass, and probably the best, cover of an excellent Lynrd Skynrd tune. And I didnt know it was a cover until I saw Skynrds video today. This will hands-down be one of my favorites now. I just discovered COC a few weeks back at age 55. Never too late!!
They did this one several years back, but with the recent passing of Gary Rossington, plus Reed Mullin being gone for three years now, it seems fitting to be unleashed anew
2 of the best covers in my opinion are from CoC. This gem and their version of Lord of This World. They almost make them their own and better than the originals.
@Samuel Wetz they recorded it for a skynyrd tribute album way back in 2004!! But it got cut from the track list. Pretty sure this is an In the Arms of God era recording

One of those bands that 100% deserved to be bigger. They put out their first album the same year as Slayer and Metallica.
