Meet our Saurophaganax, the identification of Saurophaganax is a matter of dispute. We've named ours Hamlet, referencing "To be, or not to be" from the opening phrase of a soliloquy given by Prince Hamlet in the so-called "nunnery scene" of William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 1.
It has been described as its own genus, or as a species of Allosaurus: Allosaurus maximus. The most recent review of basal tetanurans in 2004 accepted Saurophaganax as a distinct genus. Possible Saurophaganax material from New Mexico may clear up the status of the genus.
Instinction is a prehistoric action-adventure game, with combat and exploration in multiple awe inspiring natural locations. Currently in Development by Hashbane Interactive.

60% of our models will be unique and mostly unknown species, 24 different dinosaur species due at release, most will also include male, female and infants. 27 more species in DLCs.We want to keep the specific details private for now, but there is a mix of some lesser-known and more popular dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. As a giant dino nerd since the age of 4, I am looking forward to this so freaking much. I'm excited for even the smallest update like this seeing how good the models look. As so many others have said this is a Day 1 purchase for me when it drops

It's such a shame that this isn't going to be released until 2025, this looks pretty dope. Hard to believe this is being made in New Zealand, you wouldn't really expect a gaming studio to be based there. Then again, I live in Mesquite, Texas, the original hometown of Id Software (Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake), so what do I know, lol. Would be cool for New Zealand to be known as a place other than the backdrop to the Lord of the Rings.

In the original list of 25 Dino's have the tyrannosaurus Rex
But now they changed list

Really looking forward to this game. These small videos look fantastic. Just hope last gen consoles don’t technologically hold the game back.
It should be manageable, while we obviously want to push the fidelity on next gens, we have last gen in mind throughout development.
Always there are compromises when doing crossgen game but it looks amazing anyway so we shouldnt be worried about gquality on new systems;)
Make this a new gen exclusive pls with max graphics dont worry we all will buy it on day one release as for me i would buy a ps5 just to play this game. So take the time you need is ist 3 years from now no problem dino crisis fans such us are waiting more than 20y for a game like this a year more won't change anything
I have a question, will it be using the newer sizes (It was recently upsized), or the old sizes?
Which scientific papers/articles are you referencing? This species will always be larger than the all other Allosaurid species and FYI, for a few species we will have male and female and in some cases juveniles.
@@InstinctionGame Saurophag recently got another GDI, and it came out to be ~7 tonnes and 12.4 meters.

Very awesome design, Saurophaganax is an absolutely epic dinosaur but unfortunately badly described.
My only critique point is the neck, which is probably a bit too thin. Saurophaganax seems to have massive cervical vertebrae and more likely a shorter, thick neck - unlike its close relative, Allosaurus

Looks great! Right now, we are unsure if Saurophaganax maximus is an adult Allosaurus fragilis or an entirely different taxa (I’m a vertebrate paleontologist who studies allosauroids). It’s going to take a long time before we have any supporting evidence for our hypothesis because the fossil record that we have for this animal is extremely poor.

Hopefully more evidence will be found eventually. Personally, I hope that Saurophaganax stays because it is one of the coolest names for an animal.
This thing looks fearsome! incredibly awesome looking and life like saurophanganax, the attention to detail is mind blowing, and the colors of this dinosaur and sounds designs are spectacular, the only other theropod to go toe to toe with an adult saurophanganax would be an adult Edmarka rex being a bit heaver and around a similar length to Saurophanganax from what i've gathered. Really looking forward to this, been waiting a dinosaur game like this for ages. Also for suggestions, it would be cool to have alot of different difficulties like normal, hard, extreme, and if you beat extreme you get the final hardest difficulty called dread as an example. Also Since your going for paleontological accuracy which is fantastic, it would be cool to have options for dinosaurs to have exposed teeth, fully lipped, oral tissue covering, and partial lipped oral tissue covering.
There is a peer reviewed paper done by a paleontologist who is a tyrannosaur expert, the paper is called "A new tyrannosaur with evidence for anagenesis and crocodile like facial sensory system" which supports exposed teeth with very limited oral tissue, but there are no current peer reviewed papers on fully covered lips, oral tissue at the moment, but that could change in the future, its an ongoing debate. The only way to be certain would be to find mummified theropods with intact facial tissue to be 100% sure what they actually had, but anyhow it would be cool to have those options, and for dinosaurs which are unknown as to what integument type they had, to also have integument options as well. Would also be cool for the dinosaurs to interact with one another, and other unique behaviors, like territorial disputes, clashing, hunting, drinking, resting, etc.
Also ive noticed you had a saber tooth cat in an earlier trailer, does that mean we will see other Cenozoic fauna? like Barinasuchus a giant land croc with serrated teeth from south america that would have been the largest land carnivore since trex, glyptodonts, giant armadillo relatives convergent with ankylosaurs, and even Colombian mammoths? Also wonder if you might add Maip macrothorax the largest known megaraptorid in the future, would be cool. Also glad your adding coop, and first and third person view, I can already imagine how terrifying a large theropod rushing out of the foliage in full sprint is going to be, thats going to be terrifying, its going to give me flashbacks to peter jacksons king kong game were the v rex relentlessly chases you. Again really awesome showcase, looking forward to the eventual release of this game, reading about the direction its going, sounds epic.

Difficulty levels are something we have discussed internally as well as a “Dread/Grounded” mode. We’re still very much in development so we’re taking onboard comments from our community in what people would like to see featured in game. Not all will be included but we like to consider all options.
Again, with options for exposed teeth/lips, feathered or no feather, we have discussed the possibility of a toggle switch so people can play the way they choose.
We’re not limited to just dinosaurs in terms of the prehistoric life you’ll encounter. We have some very exciting content dropping in the coming weeks that’ll elaborate more on what Instinction has in store.

Thanks for the reply, im glad the team has discussed difficulty levels, and dinosaur options as a possibility. And snap, that Dread/Grounded mode sounds like its going to be crazy. Also damn, thats really exciting to hear, its going to be awesome to see what the team has in store with Instinction, Also, yeah, I probably went a bit overboard with the suggestions, its probably the hype on overdrive, also thanks again for the detailed response, highly anticipated for the eventual release of Instinction. Also its pretty cool the team is based in New Zealand, so much endemic unique wildlife, especially the birds fauna, and the flora as well. Also lastly, its extremely awesome that the carnotaurus in instinction has scales that are based on the scale impressions of the most recent scientific paper describing the scales impressions of this abelisaurid.
Saurophaganax is too poorly described to really say its less robust than Edmarka. Thats based off randomdinos skeletal, I know. Paleojoe and Alpha8 are working on a new one. Saurophaganax had massive vertebral centras and was probably just as robust as Torvosaurus. Alpha predicts a mass of 7 tonnes for the new upcoming ones
If this is early animation, I can't wait to see the final outcome of all your hard work. This Dino looks amazing and I love the attention to detail you're putting in. Honestly, I know it's 3 years away from release, but please don't rush this to get it out. I'll be waiting patiently to see this masterpiece come to fruition.

Thank you for the kind words, every bit of support counts! We're doing everything we can to sensibly approach development, it's a balance between hitting milestones and not unnecessarily rushing, we've got a great flow now and we're expanding the team too.

There are parts of the campaign where you can play as a dinosaur, but Instinction is an action-adventure and is not a dinosaur simulator or park builder, however we offer modding support where it is possible for you to create any game mode you like, for instance: you can play just as dinosaurs

Do you plan to include gore in the final build (limbs detachment and head splatter)? Or will you go the metro approach with texture damage and blood mist?
A bit of both, we'll share some tests at some point. There will also be a gore switch in the settings. Did you notice the slobber, that's done in engine in realtime.

We need more survival horror dinosaur games
Instinction is an Action-Adventure with some horror elements, and important pillar is “Celebrate dinosaurs and interactions with them!”, but of course compelling combat and narrative too.
God this just looks beyond phenomenal. Day 1 buy guaranteed. Man every teaser every trailer just looks better and better. Keep up the great work!

Definitely, our Narrative team consists of writers that worked on Tomb Raider and God of War, so yes story and intensity is important to us!

If Saurophaganax is gonna be in it, I hope Torvosaurus, Acrocanthosaurus, Sonorasaurus, Nasutoceratops, Teratophoneus, Dilophosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Centrosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, Deltadromeus, Rugops, Metriacanthosaurus, Eocarcharia, Yangchuanosaurus, & Isisaurus will be in it as well.

Why do the designers of these CGI Dinosaurs always show the Dinosaurs Roaring when they didn’t have vocal cord’s? They may have hissed like some vipers and Lizard’s do or rumbled like Gators.
Fair enough, I guess not everyone wants a hissing dinosaur game. This is not a documentary :)

They will hunting you but not all dinossaurs is gonna be your enemy
@@nate1735 No i meant like are the dinosaurs gonna fight eachother randomly like a carnotaurus fighting a saurophaganax. Different ai behaviours would make the dinosaurs feel more alive for example hunting, stalking, pack hunting, fighting, socializing and resting. Variation between behaviors would be cool too, like if a carnotaurus gets in a fight with a saurophaganax the result of the fight would be different everytime

Instead of going with a generic Allosaurus, we wanted the biggest version of Allo in the game.
