I am one of those Yes fans who appreciates both their 70s and 80s output. Sure, 90125 ain't full on prog rock, but people shouldn't expect the unreasonable! It's an excellent pop rock album with prog touches, and I love it. 🙃

Hi Guys, this is such a great album. I remember they did a live concert promoting the albums release on tv, and it was such a surprise. I had no idea about this new album, so to see Trevor Rabin take front of stage. It was at first "Where's Jon" ? He was stood at the back. Trevor & Chris front of stage. Chris dominated the stage more than Trevor. He has a much stronger presence. The music from this album live is brilliant. It was actually amazing to see Trevor do the guitar solo to "Owner of a lonely heart" to perfection, using the guitar effects button perfectly timed with the sudden change output exactly like the studio version. The concert ended with "Starship Trooper" where all the scaffolding above began to slowly descend all over the stage, literally stopping on the stage at various angles blocking off everyone on it, restricting their movements so it looked in the end the scaffolding had collapsed all around them. Excellent concert I actually taped on a vhs video tape....and still have. Of course I then bought the album on vinyl and then out came another called " 90125 - Live the Solos" Which is a great album to go along side. They should have released again on cd with both. That would have been awesome. "Changes" is an excellent track and the rest of the album is full of brilliant music. It's a more rock orientated but refreshing change to their sound which was no bad thing at the time as it worked. Byee Jim X

Like someone else here in the comments section already noted, this album was also my introduction to the band, with "Changes" being my favorite song off the album, and still my favorite Yes song ever, period. Not sure if this has been brought up before, but for this album the band was initially dubbed "Cinema", not "Yes" (long story), and had planned to move their sound into a more commercialized direction. Trivia: "Cinema" was used the title for the album's lone instrumental, and ended up winning Yes their only Grammy award. Super trivial: most people pronounce this album "nine-oh-one-two-five".

Trevor Horn the 90125 Record producer was the vocalist on the Drama Album replacing Jon Anderson for the one album try Live Yes from the 1980's or Real Love from The TALK ALBUM IS A GEM Rabin played the older Yes pieces in his own style Chris Squire asked him to put his own spin on the music !! live Starship Trooper from 1984 Show in Germany is amazing with Trevor Rabin on Guitar

The first time I saw Yes was on the Close to the Edge tour in 1973, and most recently John Anderson, Trevor Rabin (RAY-bin), and Rick Wakeman in 2016. An absolutely phenomenal show!! I still love this album as well as 80s and 90s Yes. Also, if you look at the side of a vinyl album cover it will show the artist, the name of the album, and the inventory number designated to that album by the record company. The inventory number of this album was 90125, which the band used as the title.

I'm very pleased you listened to this Nick and Alexia. In my previous comments I have encouraged you to listen to 90125, and now you are! The whole album would be great but if it has to be track by track I would suggest 'It Can Happen', 'Hold On', 'Our Song', 'City Of Love' and the one that will really mess with your pre-conceived idea of Yes, 'Leave It'. I can't wait to see you react to that song!
It's a shame for new-ish Yes fans like yourselves that you have to bounce around between albums, eras, decades and line-ups of this great band. At least we could roll with the punches in real time and come to terms with their evolution at our own speed. Love the 17 time intro. The rest is pretty good, but it's still a bit of a come down from the promise of the first 45 seconds or so. The other top tracks from this album are Cinema/Leave It (a short instrumental followed by a longer vocal track) and City Of Love, which sounds the least like a Yes track, being based on a simple two note stomp, but it ROCKS.

This iteration of the band struck perfectly with the times. The 80s and where music was going, Yes fit perfectly with that current scene. They were at the very top of the scene and it gave the band new life. Their old way would not have made it through that era. This is a great song. Definitely a hidden gem. so deep and emotionally charged. More of a progressive edge on this one. Trevor Rabin definitely shows his written prowess in this one, along with his great vocals. This iteration has more sides with the dual lead vocals of Jon Anderson and Trevor Rabin.

Best YES album along with Going for the one. You should check the album with Steve Hackett and Steve Howie together called GTR.

Our Song is the Prog song here. If you play Cinema know that it’s literally the introduction to Leave It. They both need to be played together.

That coffee cup is hilarious! Busted out laughing as soon as I saw it! Big Yes fan here. It's important to keep in mind the MTV influence over music of this period. I've "re-bought" a lot of Yes on CD, but it looks like "90125" I just have on vinyl. From "Big Generator", I think I always liked "Shoot High Aim Low".

I’d heard that this Yes album is about their transition from the Progressive sound to the 80s prog new wave sound. I think it works. It’s also called Changes, which makes sense. They adapted from the 70s to the 80s amazingly. I can’t remember who said it, but I thought this was a great album.

Great song and album! A touch of prog with 80s synths ! The guitar in this track sounds like a Steve Howe gibson type sound!!

This was the first CD I ever bought in 1986...love it. And for something a little different from them I recommend 'friends of Mr Cairo'. It has vocals at the beginning from an old movie of which the title eludes me right now. It's 1.32 in the morning here in Australia!
