It baffles me that Dave isn’t more well known. I watch most of his vids and it blows my mind how good he is. I’d take his music over most of the mainstream chart music any day. Top draw Dave
Everyone should email Lee Anderton to get Dave on the Captain meets video, I’ve done it to no avail but if there were loads of us it might get noticed.
As much as I appreciate your control and expression with electric guitars, your dynamics truly shine on an acoustic--the ebb and flow in your playing is so much fun to listen to. That slide jam was killer! I'm really digging the 'room sound.' Thank you :)
The cool thing about Dave is the soul he puts in the guitar. Its like an extension of himself. A part of him. Keep it up Dave! Emotion=excellent music.
Came in here looking to check how does this Furch sound before purchase (can't playtest it unfortunately :( ), and I totally got lost in the music. My feelings ranged from "it's ok" at the beginning to "holy shit what's happening" a few minutes in :D Keep on rocking, man! :)
I was researching a Gretsch guitar a few weeks ago and came across a video of you shredding a solo on one and now I’m checking out Furch acoustics and here you are again....good taste
Amaze ballz I'm looking into buying a furch Gc SW walnut back and sides and found this, fking amazing playing I hope I get to sound anywhere near that one day
Nice playing Dave.. Open C is definitely worth a dabble. Let's hope they let you keep the guitar ! I'm enjoying these original pieces you're doing, maybe you could head more that way and do some tutorials. I'm sure they'd go down well. Keep up the good work Dave.
Sun shone today so I went to a local guitar shop in Sydney (🐨) on the back of this vid. Taylor were in store doing a few demos and man they were expensive. Can’t say any of the guitars sounded better than this even with then rolling out the big guns to play. Came home and pulled out my 20 year old Art Luther (shame on me). The Furch sounds very similar to mine and they are both beautiful in their own way. Won’t be spending $8k AU on the Taylor that’s for sure..👏👏👏👍
You really do like the acoustic guitar lately... Brings out the grunge in you 😊 👍 I like the 90s... Maybe do an acoustic intro next time... Build up the suspense with increasing volume... Send it into the looper and solo over it with an electric guitar Kinda like what if Frusciante would jam with Soundgarden... Something like that? Just an idea My classical guitar teacher always encouraged me to hit the strings as hard as I could... He was all about that natural reverb... Dynamics! But you never know how hard you can actually play a nylon string guitar until you break one 😋 And they're expensive!
Been jamming on DADGAD since I have access to my mother's six-string at the moment. (an Takamine g 230. Love the sound of the tuning. But, the neck is a bit too 'baseball batty' for my liking. Oh, well. I'm still going to jam it.) I'm hoping to get me a mid-grade six-string acoustic this Summer. Sure, something along the lines of the Furch would be amazing. But, that is too rich for my blood.
Transparent pick guards seem to be a trend now -- I think I first saw them on Lowdens but they've been around for some time. Recently I saw a Larrivee OM-02 at Anderton's and the website said it had a "large rectangle by the sound hole" among its defects. I checked it out and it was the pick guard. BTW Furch guitars (especially the Blue range) although not 'cheap' are very inexpensive given the quality and given that they're European and not Far Eastern. I suspect the price will go up as they get more recognition. You can get the Blue (not plus) series for well under £1000 if you look around. Amazon has a Blue G for under £700! (I suspect without case.)
I've owned both. They both have the same excellent neck and spruce top, the violet is layered mahogony and is louder, bassier and not quite as refined as the blue he's playing. But also not that different in many ways. But it's a great guitar in price range. Personally I couldn't find a guitar I likes as much in the price range and that's how I got into Furch guitars.
You make me want to pick up a guitar and quit at the same time with your intro pieces. 🍻 how much 💸 would it take to let furch let you keep that thing? You should have it.

Dave Simpson folk hero and hero of the folk ! (all you need now is your own Sandy Denny type singer !)

Good sound and great tune. What's the title, please ?
I'd hate if furch became popular in US, there are amazing deals to be had for amazing instruments cause people just don't know who they are

Open c,innit?....Oh you've just said,CGCGCD-Nic Jones' tuning!
quite cool!
What gauge strings do you use for your acoustics dave? Sounds killer!
I use 10 - 52s normally but i'm not sure whats on this one. : )
Dave, you are a true musician of the highest order. What tuning are you using?
Thank you very much indeed. :)
Never mind on the tuning question.
:)
Is this guitar any similar to the Violet models? I am thinking about buying one of these furch Violets, they seem awesome

Hi Dave! Love this video, since u released it I hear it every day. It's open c tuning? Keep it up
Thank you very much and it is indeed open C tuning. But the high E is tend to D instead of E. :)
Great playing Dave is this a song or are you just jamming?

Somebody send him a big Jazzer and stand well back!!!

Dave , do you still have this guitar and if you do how is it ? I have a line on a used one in mint condition , is it a great guitar or ?
I don't have it no. It was only on loan.
You make me want to pick up a guitar and quit at the same time with your intro pieces. 🍻 how much 💸 would it take to let furch let you keep that thing? You should have it.
Thank you very much indeed and I can imagine it would cost a lot for me to keep it. I could never afford it sadly. :(
Dave, what PA or amp do you use when you mic your acoustic?
For this guitar i didn't use anything other than a Shure SM58 into the camera but if the guitars electric i use a Marshall acoustic amp. :)
ok thanks

My definition of "asshat" (check Websters) : A person who shits in his hat and has no qualms about putting said hat back upon his head.
So write your songs on your acoustic guitar and if you wish, transcribe them to electric. They shall indeed be "all original" songs and music then,
Is Dave turning into Guy Fawkes?
Slowly. : )
Did you get to keep this guitar?
Sadly not no.

Is this a standard E tune?
I used open C, Open G, DADGAD and Standard. : )

this sounds almost like a smashing pumpkins song
Sounds nicer with a D in the bottom? Oy vey! x)
