Ashwathama is a prominent character in Hindu mythology, particularly in the epic Mahabharata. He was the son of Dronacharya, the revered teacher of archery to the Kuru princes, including the Pandavas and the .Kauravas.Ashwathama fought on the Kaurava side in the great Kurukshetra War, which was the central event of the Mahabharata. He played a significant role in several battles during the war.One of the most tragic episodes involving Ashwathama occurred during the Kurukshetra War. Upon hearing false news of his father's death, Ashwathama was overwhelmed with grief and anger. He unleashed a powerful weapon, the Brahmastra, which led to the demise of Dronacharya, albeit through deception.Following his heinous act of using the Brahmastra against unarmed warriors, particularly targeting the Pandava camp at night, Lord Krishna cursed Ashwathama. He cursed him to wander the earth for thousands of years in a state of agony and immortality, with a perpetual wound on his forehead.Despite the curse, Ashwathama continues to live on, appearing at various points in later Hindu texts and traditions. He is often depicted as a figure of great sorrow and remorse for his actions during the war. The legend of Ashwathama and Asirgarh Fort is a fascinating tale deeply rooted in Indian folklore and mythology. Asirgarh Fort is a historic fortification located in the Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh, India. The legend intertwines the immortal figure of Ashwathama with this ancient fortress. Here's a summary of the legend: It is said that Ashwathama eventually found refuge and seclusion within the formidable walls of Asirgarh Fort. The remote and impregnable nature of the fort provided him with a sanctuary where he could contemplate his actions and seek penance.

Ashwathama ko shrap shrikrishna ne tab Diya tha jab unhone abhimanyu ke bete to Janam hone se pehle hi garbha me hi Marne ki koshish ki brahmastra chod kar. Taki pandavo ka vansh khatam ho jaye. Isliye Shri Krishna ne shrap Diya aur sudarshan chakra se abhimanyu ke bete ki matlab parikshit ki raksha ki.
