Les Eglises Romanes
La ville de Saintes peut s’enorgueillir de son patrimoine en particulier des vestiges romains, les arènes Gallo-Romaines du début de premier siècle et l’arc de Germanicus de 18-19 après JC, de sa cathédrale Saint-Pierre gothique et de ses Eglises Romanes, l’abbaye aux Dames, l’Eglise Saint-Pallais et la Basilique Saint-Eutrope avec sa célèbre crypte. La cathédrale et la crypte font l’objet de vidéos séparées.
L’abbaye aux Dames est une ancienne abbaye bénédictine fondée en 1047. L’Eglise Sainte-Marie date du 12ème siècle mais garde des vestiges du 11ème siècle dans la nef.
Eglise Saint-Pallais a été construite du 12ème au 14ème siècle. Elle abrite le tombeau de Marie-Eustelle Harpain (1814-1842) surnommée "l'Ange de l'Eucharistie"
La Basilique Saint-Eutrope a été commencée en 1081. L’Eglise haute, au-dessus de la crypte a été profondément remaniée avec un clocher gothique flamboyant de 80m, un chœur du 16ème siècle et la destruction de la nef au début du 19ème siècle.

It houses the tomb of Marie-Eustelle Harpain (1814-1842) nicknamed "the Angel of the Eucharist" The Saint-Eutrope Basilica was begun in 1081. The upper church, above the crypt, was profoundly remodeled with an 80m flamboyant Gothic bell tower, a 16th century choir and the destruction of the nave at the beginning of the 19th century .
