The Avengers Corgi full restoration Bentley and Lotus Elan no. GS40. Die-cast models.

This series had a different title in each country. In 1966, Corgi released its gift set based on the crime series The Avengers. The models were also sold individually in boxes not dedicated to the series, but this set had much better sales than the individual models. It resulted from my fascination with the series. The set was produced until 1969. It was equipped with figures of Emma Peel and John Steed. I recreated this gift set number 40. I used the perfect color scheme for the cars used in the company series. Corgi sold the Bentley in red or green as a set, while the Lotus Elan was always available in white. My Lotus is a metallic blue color, identical to the one used in the series. As an interesting fact, the car used in the filming was sold in 2023 for over £164,000. I also made a copy of the beautiful packaging, which was perfectly designed by the toy manufacturer, along with a presentation display. Excellent work. There are actually two Lotus Elans used in the series, both driven by Diana Rigg as Emma Peel. She was in the show for two seasons. In her first season which was black and white, she drove a white Elan numberplate HNK999C and in the second season, which was in colour, she drove the blue Elan, SJH499D.

In the 70's, Dinky did Purdey's TR7 from The New Avengers. Later in early 2000's Corgi re-released the Bentley in correct racing green but also did two New Avengers cars, Steed's Range Rover and Gambit's Jaguar, both with figures.

@@Cleveland.Ironman I know - I used to be allowed to watch the show when I was a kid in the 1960's. You couldn't buy a sword umbrella toy, but I did have an 'Avengers' branded sword stick, that also squirted water. I believe that Steed's special umbrellas were made for real by a London shop called Swaine, Adeney, and Brigg, and you could buy them.
No, It was the three little brollies that were included in the set (which I had) that I always wondered about.

When THE AVENGERS was in black and white, many did not know the colors of the cars anyhow and the Corgi set is based on the first black and white season down to the logo on the box.

I'm watching one here right now, aired in 1967 & it's in colour. It features the Elan & Bentley, but in 67, a lot of households didn't have (or could afford) colour television.
Lotus is still a legend of British motor history & they rarely made poor performance cars. The flaws were their reliability/durability.

@@andrewphippsphillips1455 The U.S. got color TV in the later 1960s in the NTSC format, then color came to the PAL format in the U.K., et al. Lotus made great cars until the mid-19080s, when the founder died and the Esprit was turned into a Firebird Trans Am more or less by owners GM. They did add Lotus tech to the Corvette the way Toyota (who supplied engines to some 1980s Lotus models) did to the Celica Supra.

Beautifully done Paul. Just one question, is there a reason you chromed the headlights and radiator after you installed them back on the model. Thought it may have been easier to do them before hand that's all. Keep up the work though, inspires me to do some myself.

The lotus probably looked light grey on a black and white TV, but wasn't white. If you google the registration number it is actually listed as Powder Blue. Edit: I see that Corgi did actually make a set which featured a white Lotus and red Bentley 👍👍

The new avengers was also great show to close out the 70’s decades along with the professionals and Sweeney then the 80’s arrived with Miami Vice in the United States from 84 and Dempsey and Makepeace in 85 that also had an extensive merchandise following Cats Eyes with Lesley ash And late Jill Gasgoine .
