This video inspired me to do this drive in 2013, hope to make the 2000 mile drive again in a few months just to enjoy the scenery and the hiking. :) One of the best experiences I've ever had just driving, the engineering and the natural beauty is just breathtaking.
In 1993, after leaving California, I had the pleasure to ride Clenwood Canyon on my motorcycle as I was heading back to Ohio. I thought it was awesome... almost otherworldly! There was some disappointment once I got past that part of I 70. I hope to ride it again someday.
Thank you for your chanel!!! I'm a trucker, these videos you make bring back my best memories. They're perfect, the music is perfect. They bring me so much happiness. I beg you not to stop!!!
I took this road a few weeks back when heading back from Vegas to Arkansas. Everywhere you looked it was almost magical. Gorgeous scenery, abundant wildlife, even seeing an amusement park on top of a mountain on that road as well. I can't wait to go back out there again!
Thank you for this wonderful post. It inspired my wife and me to visit this part of Colorado. I drove this once before, eastbound, in 1984, before this was completed. It was great to come back and see it in its true glory. This is a very special segment of the Interstate System, we are glad we had two weeks to explore it and its environs, we stayed in Eagle, CO, right off I-70. Great music, too! I am a sucker for anything having to do with the open road. Keep up the good work! :)
America is a beautiful and big country. Probably the first music add to video that was really good. I been thru there 3x in my life and it's better and better each time.
I love this video I am one of many generations of my family born n raised in the valley of glenwood springs and it's good to see cuz it's been 9 years since I been there and this drive is what I remember and now it's so different. Good to be able to reminess thank u
I'm very impressed Click. I'm a AAA Auto Travel Route Specialist making triptiks and drawing out maps everywhere around North America. I had no idea what this part of I-70 looked like. Our members are gonna be very pleased to drive this. Keep makin' em!!
I love Glenwood Canyon! I first went thru there in June 1992 with my folks. We were awed.buy its sheer beauty and the engineering of the nearly completed highway. I have been thru there a few times since then.
That was just beautiful ! Amazing infrastructures, great engineering ! I hope that you will show us more highways, and roads from Colorado ! Thanks for the ride ,man !
l like that part of I - 70. Nice scenery. It is not a regular highway. I like how they have one side of the interstate above another like you are on a bridge. I -70 connects I -15 in Cove Fort, Utah and I - 695 in western Baltimore, Maryland.
I was with my family driving on I-70 from Denver to Grand Junction and I loved seeing everything in Colorado. Such a nice place that I wish I could live there.
I just came back from dong this road trip. I actually had tears in my eyes, It was absolutely breathtaking, words cannot do this justice. It is the most magnificent scenery I have ever seen, and I thought I had seen some pretty incredible land. This takes the cake.
There's only a couple stretches of road that I would even consider to compete against Glenwood Canyon. State highways through Escalante and Capitol Reef in Utah are jaw dropping as well. But then again they aren't major interstate. :D
O M Gosh - What a great "break" from work viewing this video was. Just took a ride thru the Glenwood Canyon without leaving my desk!. What a terrific visual trip. Many thanks!
I've been through Glenwood Canyon many times going coast to coast over the years. The first times were in the early '80s when 70 was being constructed and didn't yet exist for long stretches of two lane, and in retrospect I'm glad I got to see what it was like before 70 was built. More recently I've been through there a few times by motorcycle, and the spectacular scenery made it challenging to keep my eyes on the very curvy interstate and on the watch for wildlife. I once had a deer come out of the brush in one of the sharp, low speed curves and run alongside my motorcycle for several seconds before darting back over the rail and down the bank. The canyon looks very different depending on your direction of travel and the angle of the sun. One of my favorite times passing through GC was just after sunrise when the shadows were long and there were almost no other vehicles on the road.
Nolo C hi it’s been five years since you wrote this on this video. It’s now February 2020. I lived in Colorado for 10 years. Hard to believe that this stretch of interstate is relatively new. I wonder, which way or road(s) people would drive to get to Saint George, Utah. PS. Hope you’re still around to answer this. Thank you in advance if you do.
This is AMAZING. The canyon, the river by the hwy, the shadows...just amazing.Oh and PINE TREES!!!! I have such a weakness for pine trees. Sweet a tunnel...man I love this vid. I have to get my butt over there and drive this for myself!!Whoo hoo ANOTHER tunnel!!3:54 Man thats amazing! 5:12 so neat how the hwy shelves off the side of that canyon wall.I must "experience the scenic view" of this place. Great vid!! Thanks for sharing it with us!
absolutely beautiful my friends and the are planning on driving out to Vegas and our route will take us along this section of Interstate 70 i can't wait to drive it
I just drove Glen wood canyons for the 1st time in my rig today. Unfortunately it was a night. But i could see the beauty. Cant wait to do it in the daytime.
I drove our motor home this route last fall. I never got to see much of it, I was concentrating on keeping the 9' vehicle in the 12' lane, but Mary loved it.
Outstanding lad!!! Love it all..your choice of music~~great...I lived in Evergreen and drove this all the time to play golf out beyond the canyon....The only problem~~~it makes my heart hurt because I miss Colorado so much..I now live in Myrtle Beach and I can tell you there is no beauty like this here...anywhere up and down the coast...Thanks for your time.Great video
I drove this stretch in June of this year. I had read about this stretch of road many times. The drive lived up to my expectations. Did some zip lines and rafting in the canyon too. Great memories.
Just back from a round-trip from Buffalo to Las Vegas, and I would say this was the best part of the drive both coming and going. It made my Prius C feel like a roadster. I hope I can do it again some day.
We were just there... LOVED It.. Stayed on No Name at Glenwood Springs RV resort right on the Colorado river.. except for getting attacked by hornets on the north side of No Name along a stream it was a fantastic stay. Biggest issue was Hanging Lake was so busy we couldn't hike to it.. that's what we get for being there over Labor Day weekend.
Did this a few weeks ago westward in a big tourist coach. Very interesting to see the elevated section. I didn't notice that from my elevated position - probably always looking up in awe.
Excellent work. (Both the recording and the engineering... and the construction work of all the construction dudes... and construction ladies... despite some of the superstitious tunnel builders' requests.)
I take a motorcycle trip Coast to Coast and have been on every road but I think 70 across is the best in Colorado and Utah, I’ve been on it maybe 5 times and never get tired of it
Went thru there to Denver it was lush green, the fire happened up in the mountain and when I was heading back west it was all burnt to the ground, it was 2000 or 2001. Very sad to see, but that is one of my favorite areas to travel thru.
I have never been enamored with the idea of owning a vehicle provided I get reasonable alternatives. Living in a big city on the Pacific allows me to be car free. It is places like Glenwood Canyon that move me to own a vehicle. I have driven between Grand Junction on the Western Slopes and Denver in the Front Range a number of times, and believe me, it is as spectacular as it comes, even in a state that has a surfeit of amazing places. Expanding I-70 in the canyon cost a lot of money. Care was taken not to blast and disturb the natural formation. The best use of tax payor money I say! The American west is absolutely endowed. Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington (state), Wyoming, Montana... what a blessing. And glad to have seen 80% of them.
Ii drove over I 70 and I 80 time a d time again in my 40 years of driving my semi Detroit with 411 rear ends. Perfect for mountain climbing. Did 3-1/2 million miles cross country, no moving violations or accidents. Retired now at 85
Who's hiked to Hanging Lake? It's a mile hike up one of the side canyons halfway through Glenwood Canyon. One of the most beautiful things on Earth. OK, who's been in Fulford Cave? South of Eagle, east of the Canyon. Makes for a great camping trip! Ain't Colorado one of the coolest States? Steamboat. Manitou Springs. Red Rocks. Loved it there '77-'90.
Your best video to date man! I would probably have to get someone to drive me through the first time since I would probably want to take in all the surroundings!
I drove this stretch of US 6/I-70 back in the summer of 1984 going eastbound, after having purchased my '72 VW Super Beetle in California, which I still have. I wish I could remember what this part of it looked like before it became a legitimate 4-lane expressway, it certainly wasn't there in '84, still in the early phases of construction. If anyone has video from this time period (fat chance!), please share. Now I am very interested in driving this new (well, for me!), very beautifully engineered highway. Love the music! Thanks for the post! :)
It was a train trip through Glenwood Canton years ago that inspired the creation of the Vista Dome cars still seen on Amtrak trains, including Amtrak’s California Zephyr, which today runs through the canyon on the original trackage. I-70 through the canyon is one of my favorite drives, but I don’t understand why so many drivers exceed the 50 mph speed limit through it. You would think they would enjoy the scenery, but they only seem to want to get through it as quickly as possible.
as much as I hate to be a passenger on road trips ( i usually prefer to drive) this is one of the few exceptions , the sights are GREAT it is too hard to keep my eyes on the road and look at the all things around me
This is one of the most amazing drives in the US. Driven many times and I'm blown away every time!
When I was a trucker, I made this run round trip 4 times a month, summer and winter. I never got tired of it!
What a privilege
I'm a new truck driver this was one of my fave drives so far only that I got to see it covered in snow 😍
This video inspired me to do this drive in 2013, hope to make the 2000 mile drive again in a few months just to enjoy the scenery and the hiking. :) One of the best experiences I've ever had just driving, the engineering and the natural beauty is just breathtaking.
One of my favorite road videos. Perfect soundtrack, perfect synchronization. Great job!
Glad I’m not the only one obsessed with this section of highway so cinematic
In 1993, after leaving California, I had the pleasure to ride Clenwood Canyon on my motorcycle as I was heading back to Ohio. I thought it was awesome... almost otherworldly! There was some disappointment once I got past that part of I 70. I hope to ride it again someday.

Thanks for posting this. We drive this road last year during our holiday to America. I hadn't experienced anything like it
Drove from Michigan to Vegas last year... This section is one of the VERY BEST!!!!
I took this road a few weeks back when heading back from Vegas to Arkansas. Everywhere you looked it was almost magical. Gorgeous scenery, abundant wildlife, even seeing an amusement park on top of a mountain on that road as well. I can't wait to go back out there again!
I've been on that stretch of road a million and 1 times....and it NEVER gets old. Even on video! Thanx for showing.

I lived in No Name in the 70's. My favorite place to have lived. What a great time to be alive
Love how you put the info out there. Exactly what I wanted!!! Just did that drive over the 4th weekend. It was beautiful. Proud to live in Colorado!!!
That was just beautiful ! Amazing infrastructures, great engineering ! I hope that you will show us more highways, and roads from Colorado ! Thanks for the ride ,man !
All I can say is , it's breathtaking. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO.
great music.....excellent choice ...beautiful road......five stars !!!!!!!!
Colorado looks absolutely STUNNING!!!
Thanks so much for this video.Glennwood springs is beautiful.
thanks for the video. made a road trip from portland to knoxville and was gonna take the i80 until i saw this video. i70 is absolutely gorgeous.

@@mycroft16 "going to the sun road" at Glacier park is a good one.
Very nice video. Brings back memories of a road trip driving through Colorado to Chicago from Southern California. Thanks for sharing 👍
I think your videos are the best way to fill the UA-cam memory.
I thank You
Very interesting stuff and some extraordinary engineering to say the least. Man I wish I could drive through the canyon.
O M Gosh - What a great "break" from work viewing this video was. Just took a ride thru the Glenwood Canyon without leaving my desk!. What a terrific visual trip. Many thanks!
I drove through there in 2016. I was in complete awe the whole time. It’s so beautiful!

Love Colorado born there have traveled 48 of our states so much beauty great comments
My mom worked on that project when it was built, she was truck driver.
Scotty doesn't Know ... Be sure and tell your mom thank you for doing what she did to help out on the great byway 🌹
Scotty doesn't Know really, how long did it take them to build l 70 through there.
Tell her thanks this is one of the most scenic places to drive in Colorado
Just back from a round-trip from Buffalo to Las Vegas, and I would say this was the best part of the drive both coming and going. It made my Prius C feel like a roadster. I hope I can do it again some day.
As a fan of the original ‘Vanishing Point’ movie, I love the scenes where Kowalski was racing through the construction zone back in the late ‘60s
We were just there... LOVED It.. Beautiful. Old Route 6 needed some TLC. Eastbound shows the early engineer; Colorado River. Thanks for the post!
It's so beautiful. Great video.
Did this a few weeks ago westward in a big tourist coach. Very interesting to see the elevated section. I didn't notice that from my elevated position - probably always looking up in awe.
I used to drive back and forth from Denver to Grand Junction, what a great ride Every time! Me and my Chevy Tahoe!!
PaulGreen11 scary
loved driving through here with a 92 Olds Achieva SCX. Fun times coming back from Denver to Aspen.
Excellent work. (Both the recording and the engineering... and the construction work of all the construction dudes... and construction ladies... despite some of the superstitious tunnel builders' requests.)
From Jersey I went through this 2 times in 2017 I loved it ! Beautiful love Colorado
Well Done, thanks for posting!! I've done this route a couple times on the way to Cali from Canada (Niagara) beautiful scenes all the way!!
It is cool to fly over this place on the little plane!!!
I take a motorcycle trip Coast to Coast and have been on every road but I think 70 across is the best in Colorado and Utah, I’ve been on it maybe 5 times and never get tired of it
Wow--what a great video. Lots of good background info as well. Thank you--I enjoyed this immensely!
It's on my bucket list.
I've driven this stretch of road several times. If I drove it a thousand more times, I'd still be totally awe struck.
Drove this two years ago, spectacular!
Above & Beyond! 💜💙💚
I just moved to Colorado and I just might make this drive it reminds me of a map from the first Need for Speed Hot Pursuit!!!
Proud Coloradoan! I love my home state.
Went thru there to Denver it was lush green, the fire happened up in the mountain and when I was heading back west it was all burnt to the ground, it was 2000 or 2001. Very sad to see, but that is one of my favorite areas to travel thru.

Very nice video clip and good choice of soundtrack.

I recently drove through this canyon. I drive through Franconia Notch for work all the time. While it is beautiful, there is no comparison.....
Awesome music and scenery 👍
Nice video, where you buy this camera?
My favorite ! I 70 west bound

What a run that is.

Its funny because that highway has a rest area named. : " no name area" . Great video !!
Left hand side bridge road line at 5:30 looks great!
as much as I hate to be a passenger on road trips ( i usually prefer to drive) this is one of the few exceptions , the sights are GREAT it is too hard to keep my eyes on the road and look at the all things around me
IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN ON THIS ROAD....... GO DRIVE IT NOW..... it is amazing its even better in person
Beautiful music and video!
Love this, thanks for the ride!!
