I got a master card from my regional bank in the USA for cash back. Then I got a second card AMEX Hilton Honurs a my first additional card. I used the AMEX for about six months and have 15K points there now, but I really have never used points before so I'm still confused. There is no annual fee with the AMEX so I guess I could take cash back from the AMEX too. Cash back seems the most simple way to go, but the 60-70K bonus points are attractive enough to try it. What is your suggestion?
💳 We put around 3.5K through our cards every month and I really don’t care for multipliers. Trying to maximize them past the main 2-3 categories we spend in is just a waste of time. I’d rather go after bonuses or free night certs for our family trips
Been playing the game for a few years and you have been my favorite CCCC (credit card content creator) (Yes. I just wrote that. Sorry, couldn't resist). This is the first video I've seen that broke things down by spend instead of credit score. This is why you are my fave. This was refreshing. You talk about the geospatial realities of using credit cards a bit in this video too. I would love if you looked into the viability of coupon book credit cards away from the coast (and Chicago). I think the community could get a lot of value from that.
💳 love your vids man! Been watching for quite some time. I just booked first class Cathay Pacific tickets from JFK - Hong Kong - Beijing for around ~$200 using points
💳 I’m sorry to say that I am in the very high spend. I mix between the chase trifecta, Amex gold, platinum and biz platinum. I’m intentional with my spend and coupon book clicking but realize I’m probably not optimizing my spend/setup as I should. I have a p2 who really don’t want to think about this stuff. Sebby, I’d love a video from you focusing on how you keep track of your ideal card choices for spend and the bonus/benefits of your cards.
i run the amex platinum and the gold for 90% of purchases and I have the bonvoy boundless as a backup / gas card and marriot stay card. I travel a lot and spend about 100k a year on the platinum and 50k on the platinum
@@traviselectricalservices4532 points points and more points so when I travel on vacation I’m able to convert those points to partners to take care of a lot of expenses. The wife and I usually get free flights, hotels, sometimes both. Or for very expensive vacation I might be able to save a bunch on a category
I mainly shop at Walmart, Costco, Sam’s and freshfield farms. I mainly use my delta platinum for now. I will be getting both Costco and Sam clubs card.
💳 Moderate spend. I focus mainly on cash back cards (2 BOA CCRs, 1 BOA UCR, 2 CFFs) so I can cover just about every category possible, plus the SW Priority since it's a solid keeper card for my domestic travel. I have other cards I seldom use, but keep them around for niche use (1 has 1.75% cash back and no FTF, so I use that one for my foreign purchases).
💳high spend, my setup for the most part (not listing all cards but this is 99% of spend) 1) Amex Plat (perks and 5x hotels and airfare) 2) Amex Gold (4x grocery, restaurant) 3) Amex BB+ (2x non category) 4) Citi Premier (3x gas, 3x food overseas when they don't take Amex, misc hotel $$ not routed through a portal) 5) 99$ Hyatt and Marriott cards for the annual night (handy w/airport layovers) When I'm not working an intro bonus my Amex setup allows for very fruitful gardening. P.S. Bonus Content: I think the Amex Plat annual fee is increasing this year;)!!
Wanted to ask a question. What's the point of the hotel and airline branded cards if the person is not loyal to any brand? Wouldn't it be easier and more effective using a card that earns points such as UR, MR points and then transfer them using the transfer partners?
Im moderate to high spend. But the size of the city matters for sure. Less things to do in my hometown means less things to spend money on. I just finished my VX SUB and may stay low for a while since I'm at 7/24 and would like a Chase card before I'm retired. Honestly just a stand alone card the VX does it all.
I'm in the $1500 month but have the Venture X. I'm debated the Marriott Brilliant or Chase Sapphire Preferred (with the Hyatt card just do go after sign-up bonus) for my next card.
Honestly I'm in a similar spot, I like the VX + Gold setup since there's a lot of overlapping transfer partners, but I also got the Savor One as my backup dining card and the Blue Business Plus in case I ever want to cancel the Gold, or I want more Amex points. I'm kind of eyeing the Altitude Reserve for the future since transferring points around is actually more difficult than I thought, and I don't really care about business class.
💳Absolutely outstanding video. Wish I saw thus before starting my credit card journey a year ago. Have done well this year and considering applying for the Aspire to complete my Hilton Trifecta now that it has an elevated offer now. Thanks for the awesome video Sebby!
I am in the 2M plus spend level, buying products for some resellers on Amazon. Amazon prime 5%, target record, Walmart card 5% CB card is critical to buying earnings. I am spread over many cards and end up paying over 2k in fees.
Would it be better to get the green, gold, then platinum amex cards for bonuses? I just got the gold one, guessing i cant go back to the green to get the sign up bonus from that one now
Im in the mid to high range.. but also at this point i have 17 cards and sometimes get list in the optimized strats and multipliers.. im bigger into the signup bones.
Hey Sebby, what would you do if you’re planning to travel to Italy from LA in 2025 and want to travel business class? Currently only have a chase setup for points but have already used my Amex platinum and gold signup bonuses.
We put around $75k a year on our Amex plat card. We get around 140k to 150k points per year. I don’t really focus on multipliers except travel where I make sure to get the x5 by using the plat
💳 got the gold Amex a year ago as an everyday tank. Just got the venture x over the Amex platinum for the nicer lounge here in my area, cheaper annual fee, and a 2x point catch all (great for Costco)
Same here, I am planning to get the CSR later this year for Chase Lounge in my city. Amex gold might be out since I use Costco way more frequently and the 4x on grocery seems less attractive than it was.
Good afternoon sebby I just watched one of your video I understand your coming to houston again we would love to have you on my podcast Also we will pay for your hotel room and flight my guy
You mentioned $2M spend for Centurion card in major cities, is that just a guess based on posts you have seen or do you have other info? I see a lot of mixed information out there.
agree on Millionaire & Billionaire CCs focusing on cashbacks... no sense in flashing Centurion & paying crazy AF... these Billionaires don't usually go to parties & don't fly first class.. they fly private
Where can I find more info about the timing of upgrade/downgrade cycles for aspire/surpass to get 2-3 FNC annually per card slot?? I know your video of how to maximize SUBs for Hilton, but this cycle timing is new info. I’ve googled a ton but can’t find what you’re suggesting. I’d imagine it’s: spend on surpass, get FNC(1), upgrade to aspire, get FNC(2), hold aspire for a year, downgrade, but I don’t follow how that could equate to 3 FNC per slot annually. Super helpful video! Thank you for all of your hard work, Sebby!!
Amex doesn't consider geo location in determining spend requirements for a Centurion. They do look at consistent spend levels over a period of time and years of card membership.
Sebby - why is Amex Platinum dropping Sirius XM from their monthly $20 digital entertainment credit??? This was a great perk and it’s being taken away on May 8th. What is the reasoning behind this decision?
‼️ @AskSebby for the upgrade/downgrade strategy for surpass/aspire where 6 card slots (p1&p2) could get you a total of 12 to 18 FNC annually: I can’t find anything online detailing this. Do you know where I could find resources for how to accomplish that? (Sebby discusses it @9:45 in this video)

Is this the same microphone you just used to do your latest video in Paris?
Does the AMEX Gold FIRST, before Platinum to get the SUB also applies to Business version? Thank you! Super great content!
I’m in the very high spend category (10k plus) I run the Chase trifecta (Sapphire Reserve) with Amex Gold card 💳
Great information

💳Sebby, would you make a video series of your credit card collection? Reasons for keeping each card?
💳 thanks Sebby! I always learn from you! 👍
I do 10-12k a month and I still feel like the venture x is the best for me. Am I wrong?
I prefer over AMEX because most of our travel is out of US and AMEX not accepted everywhere.
Interesting 🤔
💳 I’ll never reach 250k/mo spend nor do I want to. I’m happy with my modest hybrid points/cashback setup. 😊

Yes, good choice if you like the transfer partners and lounge network.
