Breakthrough Phrasing Skills in JUST 2 STEPS - guitar solo mastery
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 гру 2024
- Learn these two simple rules to massively improve phrasing in your guitar solos: 1) Use Rhythmic Targets and 2) Use Harmonic Targets Practicing phrasing in this way will help you break out of meandering around the pentatonic shapes. It will lead to much more melodic solos that have greater impact by using space and intelligent note choices.
Using both Minor Pentatonic and Major Pentatonic, we'll examine how to use the structure of a song to inform your soloing and create dynamic, interesting phrases that follow the form in musical ways.

I wrote out the solo at 0:43 note-for-note and that's in our Patreon at www.patreon.com/guitarlessonsvancouver The Patreon also has the backing track, and more videos on this same topic. There are a couple of those licks (the E to D phrase) free on my website: www.bluemorris.com/post/breakthrough-phrasing-skills Thanks for watching everyone!
Wish we could clone this teacher, need more like him.
Thanks! The technology isn't quite there yet for that😂

I am a big fan of your channel! Your channel and this channel are my 2 favorites for learning to play guitar better!
I love seeing my favorite channels comment on another one of my favorite channel's videos!
Thank you both so much!
@@Douglas_I Much appreciated mate! Means a lot!👍
I've watched the best teachers on UA-cam for years and you're one of the best! Your style makes sense and so fun to watch!
Thank you very much Michael!!!
Besides being a very knowledgeable and fantastic guitar teacher Blue is also one of the nicest and most helpful I've ever dealt with. I recently bought both of his books and had trouble downloading the audio files. I got in touch with him and over the course of several days he tried a few different ways to get me the files. Since I am pretty much computer illiterate it took a lot of time and effort on his part. His patience was quite admirable and greatly appreciated. All of this while being busy doing all the other things he does. I can only say thanks again for all you do. Take care and keep up the great work.
Thank you very much Bob!!! 😊
Every week a classic lesson. Brilliant, thanks so much!
Thanks again Brian!
Hey Blue… You are my Saturday saviour. I’m addicted to flipping over to YT to catch it early. Truly a phenomenal teacher. With your book and lessons you can’t go wrong. Patron next😊. Thanks again
Thank you Dennis! Great to hear!
This is like blues,I hope you continue this lessons further into funk, rock and metal
Rock for sure, maybe funk in time.
Only after watching your phrasing lesson over and over I realized how much information you gave us. Great lesson.
Thanks Brian!!!
Hearing you say "Playing these things is fun. Enjoy the process!", immediately, I feel like in a much better place!
Good!! That's what I was hoping ☺️
It's a rainy day here in NZ, and now I know what I'm going to be doing for most of it!! This is a great help to me.....Thank You!!

I love the slide on the b string from C to C#....I started using this immediately....it adds a lot of flavor...thank you!
Cool 😎
In every video i have one lightbulb moment after another😃 That makes so much fun. Thanks for your lessons Blue!👍
Great to hear thanks!!
Agree Cape! 🎸🎶
Same here....Some tutorials by other teachers are too complicated or too easy. This guy really hits the spot. He delivers a, or many gems every
time
@@johnbond1097 Thanks John!
Nice breakdown of the 12 bar, Blue.
Thanks Charles! Good to see you here again!
Another great lesson, from an excellent teacher! Thanks Blue!!
Thanks you José 👍😎🎸
AWESOME presentation and information! Thanks!
Great framework to build on, a lot of work ahead, thanks
Great lesson.....my parents were big band horn players. Father was an arranger as well. He used to play a game with us where the challenge was to see how many ways you could verbally say the same thing while phrasing it differently each time. Between volume, duration, pitch its was nearly infinite. It was a lesson that used to illustrate how easily it translated to music. Try it: 'how many ways can you say the same thing'.
That's a great way to teach phrasing! Thanks for posting.
Mate I love your tutorials....You make the complicated so easy
Thanks John!!!
L’impression que nous le savions déjà…. Mais làzzz tout s’éclaire! Thanx so much
Cool thanks 👍
Really, really great! You’re helping me move toward my goals. Glad to support you on Patreon.
Awesome, thank you for your support! Glad you are learning lots!
Thanks Blue. I need a ton of help with my phrasing so I bought your book today and I am going nail this thing if it is the last thing I do. Thanks again.
Cool thanks for getting the book. Don't forget you can download audio examples for it. Link is near the front of the book.
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver Thanks Blue.
Thanks a lot
Thank you for the extra support!
For the record, I love good semi-colons; you really can’t beat them for separating phrases while simultaneously linking a central idea-dashes too!
Sure, a musical semi-colon might be like a dotted quarter note perhaps?
Very timely lesson…I am working on Jam Track 3 in your book and this lesson help a lot!
Good to hear it thanks T-Rocket 😊
Dude that tone is awesome.
Thanks Phil! It's the UA Dream 65 straight into the board.
Great lesson Morris! By the way love your book! Thanks
Cool thanks Christian! I'm writing Book 2 now.
Cheers, mate!! I've been suck in a rut now for what seems like forever. 👌🏻

Any chance you'll put tabs and backing tracks together for jams in your first part of the video?

Music…. ‘Where Math meets Emotion’ ❤️🩹🎶🎸
Very true 😎
Woww...
Just one WEIRD QUESTION:
Suppose I play three notes ABC so how to figure out a chord for it...
Or like C C# E🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This video is a nugget of gold for a guy who's been mining in a peat bog for. . . peat?
Glad to hear it! Lots more lessons like it on the channel our Patreon group patreon.com/guitarlessonsvancouver
I’m not sure on a semicolon, perhaps, when you have a compound thought, and you need a second comma you then add the;… Maybe like parallel chords… 😂🤷🏾🎸? I don’t know! 😆
Haha thanks Doug!!! 😊
I dig your Patreon subscriber with the last name "De la Noche."
Yeah it's a great name!
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver lol. Yea. He's actually my husband. Our son has his middle name as "De La Noche." Lol
@@nissaniatrujillo very cool 😎
The part not covered here that I struggle most with is the timing/rhythm of the licks. Which beat do I start and end a lick on, and what is the time of the notes. Are they triplets or not etc?
Also, I’m not understanding the muting and staccato parts.
Try memorizing some common licks and notice what beats the start and end on. There are 10 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/R7cgcC3aMGk/v-deo.html
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver thank you! This helps.
Music is math's fun cousin.
Is that a fender telecaster your playing?
Sure is
It looks so easy when you do it but it’s not
Everything takes practice. You can get there!
Still new at this and struggling. I still sound like I’m just going up and down the pentatonic scale.
You might need some memorized licks to help you sound less "scale-wise." Or practice some patterns to help break up the scale-wise direction of your playing. Here are some of my favourite licks: ua-cam.com/video/R7cgcC3aMGk/v-deo.html
Not able to pay from india for premium membership
Sorry to hear that. Do you mean for my Patreon group?
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver yes.. for your patreon group... also while I have your attention ... I bought your book guitar soloing like a pro.. find it difficult to at times understand the guitar tablature.. can u guide me to a ready reckoner of a sort and BTW I just love your videos
@@sudarshandujari9768 Hi Sudarshan, can you get in touch with me through my website? I might be able to help you with the Patreon: www.bluemorris.com/contact As for the tabs, as long as you can read the numbers as frets and the lines as strings, you can pretty much ignore the rest and use the audio tracks to listen for the rhythm. You can download the audio tracks from my website (link is at the beginning of the book). You could eventually try learning some of the additional symbols in time. There's a guide online here: www.guitartricks.com/blog/guitar-tab-symbols
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver yup on it. I have already started getting a hang of it... will reach out for the membership thru the website...

i would like toplay that but i m not undestand how you doing m leaving in quebec city Would like to have your book .A A A D A E How do you play that i have guitar accostic
You should start with something that sounds good to the ear
No matter how good you speak a language
If the language is ugly you going to sound just like it
Everytime i jam i sound like a robot.
You have to be very careful how you use the sound you are using
Just like languages and natives speak it so well but it doesn't always sound good to different listeners
And even when a language is so beautiful to hear like French
When that person speak English in the French formula
It sounds shit
So must be careful how to use sounds
