    Tyler Perry’s “For Colored Girls” embodies the harsh truth behind being a woman. The movie executed the aspects of pain, sorrow, and the characters brought realism to life. I loved how the movie sucks you in from beginning to end, leaving the women stronger than ever in the end.

      But it does it at the expense of black men. It makes us look like absolute monsters! Don't get me wrong. The movie was great and it was deep. But It would of been nice to see some of those women hook up with a good brotha with a head on his shoulders doing well in life who would do right by them.

    • @milandrabrown1340
      @milandrabrown1340 4 роки тому +24

      @@mrpj1390 Of course I understand that but the meaning behind the story wasn't about black women not having solid black men. It was about the struggles that women face in their everyday lives. There are millions of movies with great Black men being the wonderful people they are but having that portrayed in this movie (particularly) would stray away from the message.

    As A fifth generation Mexican-American... I am inspired. I respect black women, black artists. I write music, I write poems. I’ve come many friends with similar personalities as these characters. Experiencing love, death, abuse, racism, heartbreak, and I’m always there for them. Nina Simone’s Four Women in the background really is appropriate to shed light on these challenges the women face. There’s beauty in the darkness. I stand with those who are proud to be in color of their skin. I will always have respect in never forgetting who you are. I hope to act in films similar to this especially with Tyler Perry. Black & Brown must stick together. Brown Pride. Black Lives Matter. God Bless

If this film was made now, in 2018, Tessa Thompson would definitely be listed/credited (she's been blowing up the last few years), and Kerry Washington probably wouldn't be the last name to appear (Scandal came out in 2012).

      Hey, Asian women tend to struggle just as hard as black women because they are expected to modernize but also want to maintain their cultural heritage. If I could write, produce, and direct a film about the struggles of Asian women and title it "East meeting West" I would gladly do it because Asian American actors are severely underrepresented in the acting business. The women would be of Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese, Taiwanese, Filipino, Korean, and Japanese ancestry as those are the most dominant Asian ethnic groups in the United States. It wouldn't be a drama film, but it would be a documentary.

    • @shadowflewellen9464
      @shadowflewellen9464 5 років тому +10

      While I think the subject of your "documentary" sounds interesting, dount ever compare the struggle of Asian women to that of black woman. There is no where near a comparison. Your struggle is modernization while preserving your cultural heritage? Ours is having out identity stripped away, by a culture that hates us but loves what we do. No, one looks at an Asian woman and automatically assumes she is argumentative or loud, but they do if the woman is black. I fond it funny how there are always people like you that come to a black successful area(ie this movie) and try to push your own unwanted "me too" views. Why not go rally at Crazy Rich Asians whitch by the way only featured white/asian actors?

    @l9ois hmm... I don't know about that. Not to say anything bad about Thandie, but Mariah Scarey wasn't so bad in "Precious", was she? She might be one of those actresses that her performance depends on the director and the script...

      That's why we say that we do not take anyone home whether it is a man or a woman because we never know the hearts of people and what they hide behind their heads. Even worse, some strangers take negative energies into people's homes and that's spiritual.
