Montessori Multiplication with the Golden Beads units, tens, hundreds and thousands

This video introduces the child to multiplying large numbers using the golden beads and small number cards. This is the most concrete representation of multiplication in the hierarchy of number.

Just saying, not having, BUT what with the thousand cubes being made of solid wood, while ALL the rest are actual golden beads!???

It is very much a budget thing, how I would love to have the all the thousand cubes of golden beads. I could only afford two, so I use those for the introduction and counting through of the golden beads. The wooden cubes are used for operations

I started Montessori in the early 90s and some of the older classrooms still had the copper rings stickingoutof their thousand cubes... o,my, hotties have changed!
