It's a real shame this video didn't get picked up by the algorithm more, as i feel it's incredibly relevant in todays society. I've watched your videos on and off for years now and came back again planning on just watching ASMR. I saw the title of this video and was drawn in as I've been jobless and in a rut for almost 4 years now. For context I just turned 21 and haven't had a job since I was 17. There's been a mental block that I just haven't been able to get over. My lungs collapsed 2 separate times when I was 17 and 18 and so I had corrective surgery done to mitigate the chance it would happen again. It's been a little over a year since that surgery, but ever since the first time my lung collapsed I've kept procrastinating entering the workforce or going to school because it felt like I was constantly waiting for something to be resolved. You've helped me to realize that I'm not waiting on the world, the world is waiting on me. My father didn't instill values of hard work or anything of the like into me, so having you in this video to give a sort of tough love was invaluable to me. I guess what I'm trying to say is that i want you to know you've made a massive impact on my life that nobody has been able to do for years, and I'm eternally grateful.
I really hope things improve for you in the near future. Try applying to 20 places and then 20 more if you don not get any interviews. I always applied to a lot of places like that to get just two or three interviews at the most. It's a numbers game, and if you do get hired, work really hard, and keep focused. You can change things. Stay strong on this.

Thought this was satire at first.... but you just showed how totally out of touch gen x/boomers are. "A $1000 dollar car, then a Mustang!" That was 40 years ago. Minimum wage hasn't followed inflation, it's hard now a days. If you need to stay at your parents to save money for a while, there's no shame. The only part I agree with is don't threaten women. The rest of this advice is trash.
Minimum wage in Ohio in 1986 was $3.35 an hour dude, I was lucky, making $4.00 an hour then. It was no gravy train then, the same minimum wage crap issue you have now we had then, it didn't follow inflation at all back then. I saved all my overtime and it took 10 or 12 months to save enough to get a newer car, and even then my payment was $250.00 a month, back then. Car insurance and my car payment left me literally broke every month. No better then than it is now. This issue has been going on since the 1970's.
Adjusted for inflation, minimum wage should be 25-30 dollars in the US. People are spending over 1000 a month just on rent. Not to mention the main point being that of a 1000 dollar used car. 3 years ago you could, but try to find one now. Cheapest is 5k for a 200k+ mile car. This generation isn't staying at home bc they're "crybabies". It's bc the economy sucks....like, really bad.

I'm not here to debate your history, but Reaganomics, bailing out banks, multiple recessions, and crashing housing markets make an impact.
