As a Devils fan, this video crushes me. Probably would have won another cup or two if not for Carolina. They are our kryptonite when it comes to the playoffs

Its because of the 2001 series when the Devils Scott Stevens concussed Shane Willis and Ron Francis with borderline hits. Canes never forgot that and played extra hard against Devils in 2002, 2006, 2009.

Tossis at 1:45 - the 2002 Vasicek call is John Forslund. After he is done, Tripp Tracy the Hurricanes color guy interjects about Raleigh “not being a hockey town”.
You can hear John say one of his famous lines “Hey hey waddya say” he also frequently says “that’s hockey baby”

And that doesn't even talk about the 09 game 7 which the Canes scored two in under two minutes to make sure it DIDN'T go to OT.

Yup. We are hoping to change that. I would love for Carolina to be a regular playoffs team. I think it is changing. We will see after 10 years.

@@bharrison3364 Playoff record is the Habs in 93 if I remember, and it was 10 straight OT win without a loss.
The Canes really felt like a team of destiny that year. Too bad they ran into the juggernaut Red Wings who had one of the best rosters of all time.
2002 Run to the cup was a exciting year for a new hockey fan. Specially that series against Toronto.

Carolina don’t do first round eliminations. They miss or are in the Eastern Conference Finals. They’re last 4 playoff berths. 2002 - Cup Finals, 2006 - Cup, 2009 - Eastern conference finals, 2019 - Eastern Conference Finals

The canes were owned by the Devils the 1st time both teams played each other back in 2000 but then decided to own them 3 times every times the Canes and Devils play each other in the playoffs it's like the Canes are the Devils dreaded curse mark .
I was at the game in the second clip with my parents but I wasn’t even a year old. When Brind’amour won the game with that goal my dad had to cover my ears bc the arena was so loud
