For those of us who are 60 and over and went to Southport Pontins..watching this breaks my heart. Family went from 1967 for about 6 years including my grand parents.....even my grandma entered the lovely legs com....awwww happy times x
I was a bluecoat in 1970 when it opened it was a great place in those days , worked at prestatyn, when it opened the year after 1971,72 then at pontins Barton Hall,Hotel.1973 it,s brakeing my heart watching these vidioes they were such great holidays I'm,e now 76 I'm,e sorry no one will ever enjoy these holidays again if any body remembers me my name is Tony Robinson
Worked as an instructor at Southport back in 1998/99 Back then it had climbing, absail towers and a zip line quad bikes we would take the kids out on well maintained mountain bikes (groups of 12) foil fencing 🤺 flightball (basketball on a trampoline) and more ! I'm disgusted with what has happened to the place. 😡😤🤬
We went here with sun holidays.. collected our key.. saw the room and then left... absolute shitehole... when we first arrived there was a guy climbing out a window😅
it closed down now, butlins are trying to buy it and they said they will demolish whats on site and build brand new facilitys, if pontins sell it to them ,was in the echo this week.
Last time me and my daughter and grandkids went, before lockdown, we arrived on a Friday afternoon and left at 11pm on Saturday night. Someone was stabbed, people were fighting, you could smell weed. When the riot police vans arrived, that was it for us. Never packed up as fast. We werent the only people leaving. We have been a few times, without incident. But and its a big BUT. We always took our own bedding, including plastic mattress covers, pillows and duvets. One of us cleaned the chalet while the other took the kids to the playground. It was always a bucket and mop with very hot water and bleach job. The entertainment was always great for the children. We also took pre-cooked food to reheat in the microwave, and took disposable plates and our own cups, drinks bottles and cutlery, we didnt use the cooker or utensils. Unfortunately, the staff are largely students paid minimum wage. They dont get paid enough to care.
Hi i was watching UA-cam this morning on the TV and your channel popped up so i had a look and subscribed and I'm on my 7th vlog in a row and it's very entertaining 😊
Showed up for an adult weekend and it ended up being a swinger get together. We had no idea this was a thing at Pontins. Not something we are into but if that’s your thing…. Anyone else run into anything like that?
Just got back home today as we were at the 1980's 48 hour party. i think it's well worth the money for what you see when it comes to music artists and ofcourse it does get you away from the same old for a couple of days. this is our third time now and happy to come back again and again, there are a couple of problems which is the duvet on my bed was stained in 3-4 places. theres no way it was cleaned as it did have the smell that it's been used so i stuck it on top of the wardrobe as i was not gonna use it as it could of been shit stain, piss stain or vomit stain or something spilt who knows. all linen should be washed by staff after use whether it has stains or not as we don't know the sort of people who have used them last. we left today with over £18.00 left on the electric meter, yes you have to buy electric for your rooms and twice now we've left with over £18 on the meter so next time we come we will be buying less electric and learn from this. so true about the walls as they have been touched up here and there which is unprofessional, they do need painting through out and below the railings outside the main door needs work as it's crumbling away. getting back to the cost it is well worth £50 per person but no more, the rooms are basic and when you're out having a good time seeing live music artists perform and you're drinking and eating then these rooms are ideal for getting some sleep. it was great to see Martin Kemp again, and we saw Toyah Wilcox for the first time and she sounds and looks fantastic for her age. we met some nice people and had a great time....
Did the summer season there back in 97' every Friday. & also at Prestatyn on Sunday night. Had some great gig's. But have to say the chalet's weren't the best even back then, just somewhere to kip for the night. & we got on well with the staff & security people.
Watched with my family my son said it's what seaside resorts would look like if they were made by the council. Some areas were like rundown student accom set in wasteland. Some facilities seem okay (albeit limited) overall I know if I took my family there without prior knowledge I'd be gutted. Love how you give places a go impartially. Good as a base 😊
I had some wonderful holidays at pontins holiday parks back in the 70s and 80s but I think it's probably best to let the old company die by the looks of things.
Hi Paul I have to say that i am absolutely horrified at what i have seen at the Pontin's Southport. It defies believe that it is still open. When you showed us that heater in that room that had not been checked since 1994, i nearly fell off my chair. Surely that has to be breach of the fire regulations for a start, which i'm sure you know could result in immediate closure if this was reported to the Fire Services. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i am pretty sure i'm right.
Such a shame, Pontin's used to be great for taking the kids, lots of entertainment and the accommodation was always basic but clean. I can't remember the year we last went, but it was grim. Feral kids screaming and shouting outside at 5 in the morning - Lord knows where the parents were, Such a shame
Its a organised tip/dump and even if you look out the windows on the sight you can see the trash cans gets even worse inside the rooms are full of nits, grits, bugs plus more.
Brilliant vlog. you two seem abit too picky hahahha. bedding seemed ok tbf . PS.....do do do do do, do do do do doooooooooooo, yes Jurrasic park them tune is now my head thank you 🤣🤣x
Stayed here some 40years ago, a dump then, and doesn't seem to have improved. It might be cheap, but you should as a minimum have a clean room and utensils. Other Pontins are similar so wouldn't recommend them to anybody.
Not as bad as a the other vids I’ve seen shows that it’s actually not half bad by looks anyway not exactly 5 Star but seems bearable for a few nights stay
I lived in Ainsdale for over 10 yrs and enjoyed a wonderful time Pontins was a horrible eyesore Totally out of place in what was a pleasant village Luckily it was behind barbed wire and out of sight of our homes Should have been pulled down years ago
You don't book a holiday at these places if you can afford somewhere better...And many cannot...Some compromise should be established by the visitors...Pontins offer dirt cheap holidays on the proviso you don't expect a four star establishment. Rough around the edges,,but the kids won't mind...and thats what is important....for those on a very tight budget... the whole family gets a holiday...Its Brilliant. People just have to acknowledge the expense and time it takes to keep these massive holiday parks updated and operating while offering exceptionally cheap prices
I was told who owns pontins but can't remember the name, the owner owns a number of businesses and has lots of money/well off so theres no reason why the owner can't keep the rooms nicely decorated and repair things that need repairing as it's good business which will bring people coming back especially the ones who choose to never return and theres the reputation too. who wants to own a business with poor ratings not me for sure.
I can't love this enough! Totally agree - memories made and cherished. The beach at Ainsdale is spectacular and lovely Ainsdale village and Southport are within easy reach. Families on a budget would tend to be Monday - Fridays with themed weekenders on the other two days. Southport Pontins was the venue for our group of around 2,000 jive dancers who travelled from all over the UK three times a year. These weekenders provided some of the best memories I have, and my heart broke when our planned weekender in February was cancelled. There is no other venue like it (in the UK) so all of us who enjoyed the themed weekends (dance/music/children's entertainment/sport etc) will feel the loss of this beloved space.
Bit of a boring video clip this time Paul, to be honest. El Cheapo stay - but to be fair if that’s all people can afford, they would probably make the best of it. There are positives, but just a few too many negatives for me. You gave a good commentary on the place - not for me though.
i went in 1992 when i was only 2 years old and how much it has changed. i came back yesterday from a 4 night stay and there is a bit more negative than shown in the video here. they appartments are dates. the staff in the shop and reception are rude. they was noisy familys on the grass of the block we stayed in that was screaming shouting playing really loud music and football until 3am or 2 of the nights we had to ring security to come and sort it. and i ended up with bites all over my legs and seem to think there was some kind of bug in the double sofa bed or something. the shop groceries were galactic price e/g a jar of kenco decaff coffee was £13 and a small can of corned beef was £5.50. 4 x stella were 6.99 just to name a couple. we saw a rat running across the site whilst we were there and there is litter and broken chair and pillows thrown all over the place. it is a shame as years ago it was a lovely site and now like you said we compared it to a military camp.
Looks like a seaside prison camp, you have to make your own bed, looks run down and I would rather camp in my local beach campsite than give my money to whoever owns this franchise. Taking your kids to something like this and calling it a Holiday? Its old, dated, un maintained and quite frankly shameful.
It was breathtakingly cheap and set on the most spectacular beach. Two adults and a couple of kids self catering - £50 for two days. Evening entertainment, a swimming pool and a selection of activities for kids.
Bit harsh. It was cheap as chips and set right beside the most stunning beach. Ainsdale village with shops, restaurants and pubs is a short stroll away. Most importantly, it allowed people who might not be able to afford a more conventional hotel/B&B/self catering option the opportunity to enjoy a seaside holiday.
One look at the room and I'd have got back back into my car. Off to LGW OR LHR and have flown off to somewhere hot and sunny. I feel very sorry for people who can't afford to go somewhere much better.
OMG !!! That’s a good start 😂 forgot to put the top back on the wardrobe 😂 dated!!!! 🤣 nah won’t be stayin there 😂😂😂 I’m so glad you do these reviews it cheers me up plus winds me up 😂😂 oh that quilt grose them beds look like children’s beds look like children’s when I watch these it makes me make sure the rooms I clean are spotless and they are till the next one 😊
Such a shame, it looks awful, and wouldnt like to stay there as it is now, but the price is cheap, i guess its what people want for a break away, and what they can afford, but not many facilities for kids 😊
3.5 miles ia very long walk! If you don't renovate you don't save money as the bad reviews will steer customers away. Cdn. here has seen many bad Pontin's reviews.Shitty particle board wardrobes! Check for bedbugs! Attractions rather boring. Not much of a holiday.

It's called Southport for point of reference, lot of attractions take their names from large landmarks or areas
Just seen this now I stayed there twice the last being 2019 for a themed adults only weekend I said then it needed closing down.

Why don't the beds have sheets on them? There's no covers on the pillows or duvets either
you have to hire them from the reception at a cost
I used to go three times a year. Took cleaning materials, towels and bedding. Just became part of the holiday routine so no big drama.
