    Ever since I got my Magic Key right when they came out in August, I’ve been going every Sunday, and I’ve gotten every day I’ve wanted. Unfortunately some Sundays are harder to get than others and they require lots of fishing; but it works.

    I honestly really hope Disney gets rid of the reservation system eventually. One of the reasons I got an annual pass was so I could go whenever I wanted, but I can't.... Maybe one day, I dunno. I REALLY appreciate this video, I've been struggling with reservations, and now I got more knowledge for next time!

    Good video and does match what I've seen/experienced that the closer to the date the easier it is. Well outside of when it first goes on "sale".
    That said I'm with many people who hope that Disney at the very least offers a new AP w/o the reservation or something similar. As someone who lives in Norcal with an AP I have to say that the current state of things really sucks. I'm right on that weird cusp to where I COULD make a last minute trip easy enough (it's not a bad drive and plenty of hotel rooms) however (at current prices) it winds up being like $500+ for 2 days so I do have to put in some planning on it.

    These hacks really do work. I have an enchant key and have made a Friday or Saturday reservation a week sometimes even two days before 4 weeks in a row. The “key” hours in my opinion to check for dates are 7:00-8:30 AM and 9:00-12AM. Personally the best luck I
    have is day before around 10:30 PM. Also refreshing the app or trying to log in through a different devise helps too. I have tried booking a date on my phone and it’s booked then I go on through my desktop and boom the dates there

      There you have it .... "daily-ticket-buyers" ..... bring in more money. Perhaps there should be NO passes at all. There was a day when "crowds" at Disney were almost non-existent -- I used to work there in the 1980's -- in a not-to-be-named "executive" office. If it weren't for "local" pass-holders, Disney might be empty most of the time (except summer-vacation time). Keep in mind that those, who are annual pass-holders, who like to go there, when time permits for them, spend money as well -- AND more often -- AND more consistently than the one-time, long-distance, big-spender visitors! There was a time when many locals did not go to Disney on any kind of regular basis -- Disney was overly-heavily dependent upon the one-time, long-distance-summertime visitors -- most of whom would visit only during .... the summer. (An economics concept here: If you have, for instance, an industrial plant, and that plant is not in full operation 24-7, then you are losing money). It was during a time of low, local-visitor-attendance, that the concept of "local California passes" came into existence -- your status as a "local" was dependent upon your Zip Code Number, and at that time, as I recall, the passes were good only during the "winter," or "off-season" months. Don't call us demeaning names or sell us short. Locals are a vital component of the Disney "traffic" -- they help to keep the "plant" running 24-7 -- or as close to that as possible, but SOME of us will not return until ALL reservations are gone.

    I have travelled here on many occasions with little to no problems. But now it looks extremely complicated.
    First the normal person needs to be highly inteligent and know so much more than any Disney organizers. Next you need to somehow fathom exactly which site and where to find park reservations. Make your reservations, then buy your park tickets, or is it buy your park tickets and then make reservations that may no longer be available in which case you will not be visiting. Many people who have done similar have complained that the reservations have not been linked to the tickets and the only way to sort it just maybe is to telephone and wait in line for up to two hours if you are lucky for someone to answer and even then they may not be able to help, how much will that cost someone dialing from outside the US?. Also apparently we all need some sort of App ontop of another App ontop of further apps to access an account, and that's assuming we have accounts, otherwise it's now more wasting time to open a new account, or several accounts. Once this is all done and we have followed everything that we should and bearing in mind there is no easy way of finding out which sites to use or how to use them, there seems to be no real guarantee that you'll be able to enter the parks. From the UK it's really not easy trying to remote access from this end.. I have looked over several weeks to try and make head or tail of what, why, when, how and if. I've just tried several UA-cam channel to see if they can throw any light on the situation and I hope that this upload may have been one of them. Is this really a good thing. Most people that I have spoken to in the UK have all felt that we are no longer welcome at WDW which is such a shame. I'm sorry everyone if I sound a little too upset and I suppose I need to let off a little steam, but I wonder if anyone could point me to an upload or a page that will safely take me through the process as it's a wonderful place to visit. Many Thanks.

    LOL take a step back and look what we have to do to go to the park with our season passes that were created so we could go to the park whenever and however many times we want to. Being 8 hours away from the park this system ruined it for me. Hotel reservations and park reservations planning months out with other friends / family? Only people who aren't bothered by this are the ones who live close by.

      @adamtuck4161 2 роки тому +2

      totally agree with you, while i completely understand why this would be an issue and in some cases it still is for me, i plan trips like as far in advance as possible so i have not really had much of an issue, but i imagine it’s a lot harder for people who go more often than once or twice a year

    • @goldeelocks83
      @goldeelocks83 2 роки тому

      To be honest it doesn't really bother me either, and we go at least 24 times a year. We have kids and lots of activities. Even back in 2018-19 we were planning our visits 3-6 months in advance, otherwise we would book up and not even get to go to the parks, even though we live 10 minutes away. We would advance pick two days each month to go and put it in our dayplanners so if someone invited us to something that day we would know that's already earmarked for Disney. Now I don't have to write it down on the calendar anymore, I just check my app.

    these tips seem to mostly apply to magic key holders and people who work 9 to 5 monday thru friday. i work odd hours and odd days,a lot of people do. also,what about someone who wants to go on a day pass? do the same tips apply? i had an AP for over 30 years, but if reservations are here to stay i'm going back to ala carte visits once or twice a year. if disney can live with that, so can i. in fact it will probably make me appreciate the park more and not take it for granted. i also find it kind of funny that disney now has people scrambling to get reservations for days when the parks will be jammed packed. it doesn't sound very magical to me.

    The reservation system is thoughtless and disgusting -- it totally eliminates a whole group of people whose daily lives can and do change at a moment's notice because of the demands of the type of work they do (a law office, for example) -- and, therefore, their availability changes from moment-to-moment, day-to-day. I am left breathless, mentally exhausted, depressed, and totally disillusioned after listening to all of the ways one must spend time strategizing how to do what could and should be a simple, impromptu trip to Disneyland -- continuing to prove that Disney does not want/need our money.

    WARNING: the calendar is not accurate. That is, it can't be trusted in some situations. I had reserved Tuesday thru Friday a month ago for the middle of June. We're from another state and had purchased 4-day passes.
    I needed to cancel Friday and reserve Monday instead. An ideal reservation system would let me do both at the same time, but not Disney. You have to first cancel and then make a new reservation.
    The calendar has been fully open and continues to be for mid June for both parks and both types of passes (single park or park hopper), but it wasn't until I actually went in to reserve Monday (after cancelling Friday) that I got to see the "real" calendar.
    What I mean by "real" calendar is that what had been fully open before, now showed no reservations available for Disneyland on 3 of the 4 days in the middle of the week of our trip. So how did this happen? Why could I not see that these reservations were no longer available until I was in the process of making a new reservation? There was no time delay on my part. I cancelled and immediately made a new reservation. So what is going on with their reservation calendar?
    Monday was fully open, so it worked out for us. But had Monday not been available, our 4-day passes would have effectively just become 3-day passes. We're still almost a month away from our visit, and had I tried to do this in a week or two before our arrival, I probably would not have gotten that Monday reservation.
    With our hotel reservations, I never cancel or change one reservation unless I have the other reservation secured. Is it too much to expect this of Disney?
    I can guarantee this is going to cost out of town guests to lose days on their multi-day passes when they are making changes to their reservations, and this sounds like another class-action lawsuit just waiting to happen.
    I exchanged many messages with Disney reps trying to understand why I couldn't see the "real" calendar until I was in the process of making a new reservation. I can tell you what they finally concluded, but this is already too long, and I want to give others a chance to offer their theories or tell about their own experiences. If there is interest, I'll come back and explain further.

      @@conrad4667 So here's Disney's explanation. It makes sense, yet I'm not completely convinced. First I'll point out that in these comments, someone asked how many reservations must be available to show availability on the calendar, and David (Freshbaked) replied 1. He didn't elaborate, but I suspect this is accurate.
      According to Disney, the reason the calendar changes from when I'm looking at a fully open week and then try to actually make a reservation is because we have four people in our group that need reservations. So it's only after I select all four people in our group that the availability in the calendar changes, blocking out days that have fewer than 4 reservations available.
      But here's the reason I don't fully buy this explanation. As stated previously, I had been watching the calendar for weeks and had not seen any days of the week showing no reservations available. If Disney's explanation is accurate, meaning the week looked fully open but many days actually had fewer than 4 reservations available, I think I would see some fluctuations bouncing around with reservations disappearing and reappearing. That never happened. Our week had consistently remained fully open whereas the week before our week did exactly that, bouncing in and out of reservation availability.
      So my point with all this is if you have a multi-day pass and have a limited time period within to use it (being from out of town), I would be very cautious before dropping any reservation in the hope of picking up a reservation for a different day. The closer to your arrival, and the more people in your group, the less likely you will be successful in getting that new reservation.

      It seems like it’s just for the 3 top tier pass holders. You must reserve regular non pass holders days in advance as well. Start early, get a park hopper and use genie plus for the best experience

      @@johnnigro3709 Thanks for the clarification. I was hoping that these restrictions were primarily for the season pass holders. We're not in a position to book a holiday 6 months in advance and would most likely be booking a month or 3 weeks once our work and household schedules clear up.

    I don't mind the reservations, I have had absolutely no issues getting the days I want, because I am a planner by nature. I could see it being an issue for people who aren't necessarily planners. Anyone in the comments who complain about the costs has never looked at what the prices, booklets, individual ride costs, average household income was in, let's say, 1959 or any of the earlier years. The cost is close in comparison compared to hourly income. Disneyland is so popular, these things need to put into place. A few upset people over reservations not going to Disneyland anymore just opens the door for those of us who want to be there and who know how to work the reservation system. Disneyland is a business not a charity and they have enormous costs to cover. If you think Walt wouldn't have wanted it this way, go do the above comparison and see that yes, customers were "nickel and dimed" in the early years too. Pretend you wanted to ride all the rides in 1959 and add up what it would have cost you compared to a minimum wage job back then.. He wanted and needed to make money. I feel, for every one person who states they will never go back, there are hundreds more making reservations and enjoying Disneyland.
