Dr John Campbell, I would like to express my appreciation for such excellent, clear, easy to understand information throughout this outbreak. What a fantastic teacher! You really are a force for good in this world. Thank you.
Hello John this virus has really caught us all out. Who would have thought it would have been us witnessing it now. You are brilliant at explaining. Thank you so much for your time and effort and patience.

It was just a matter of time and as a race we have known this. Unfortunately most governments failed to identify the risks quickly enough or simply ignored the danger, worse governments ignored lessons already learned and still do. What goes around comes around, but we never learn, not even now. We still have people who fail to accept the reality and that includes world leaders. Unfortunately this is just the beginning. Good morning from Canada. We get up every morning to start our day with the voice of reason in these turbulent days. Thanks for your tireless work to keep us educated and pre-sifting of the volume of data coming at us. Well done Dr. John!!
Good for the Dr. Personally, I find succinct sentences almost impossible to use for expressing myself. I think because my mind is always racing ahead putting additional information in any sentence to shape the idea I'm trying express in words.
Great presentation, had vague memories of learning all this in A-Level biology, although 40 years has dulled the mind :) Great teacher, who now has an army of followers who will no doubt keep on learning from your wonderful teaching style.
As a builder we have a saying" every day is a school day". Being in lockdown gives us a chance to learn new things. Your explanations are clear and concise. I couldn't ask for better. Although it may take some time before I get my head around all these new terms. Thanks
Your videos are the most useful information I've found on COVID on the internet to date. Thank you for your work. I'm recommending my friends watch you where I can because it's sensible and well researched information you're presenting, and it's educational rather than frightening. Even though the statistics themselves are scary. I almost went down the academic path in a health science field and can tell you know your stuff.
Anti-gen means an Antibody generator! Quite brilliant and understandable even to those who never had basic knowledge about Medicine....... Thank you Dr Campbell for making this amazing field easier than anyone might have thought 👏 👏
everyone should know this information and have it broken down "barney" style. just like everyone should know how to change a tire. everyone should know how viruses and our immune system work. this pandemic has taught us that in a lot of societies there are simply not enough doctors, nurses, and medical equipment to go around if a lot of us get sick at the same time. "An educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free (and living) people."- paraphrased Thomas Jefferson
"In every government on earth is some trace of human weakness, some germ of corruption and degeneracy, which cunning will discover and wickedness insensibly open, cultivate and improve. Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves therefore are its only safe depositories. And to render even them safe, their minds must be improved . . ."
There was a comment by an expert on the BBC this morning (professor from Leeds university?) "Those who aren't sick shouldn't be wearing a mask.... Save them for the professionals" Cue facepalm/ shouting at TV. (HOW do you *know* if you're not "sick"/ asymptomatic?) Wear a mask people!
I think even a scarf wrapped around the face would reduce transmission of the disease from someone that maybe asymptomatic - the problem is there arent enough masks to equip the NHS so they rather say to people they dont need one to make the more available to doctors etc- the govt was warned about this in 2016 with the outcome of exercise cygnus - instead of putting it right they marked the report as classified to keep it away from the public - I dont think the statement that masks are not effective is totally the truth - what I believe they should be saying is - we need the masks for the NHS - but please cover your nose and mouth when your outside and explain to people the risks of cross transfer and how to mittigate it - I know of a few people that have managed to get military surplus masks and are using those - they are easy to decontaminate for reuse... - I'm finding it very hard to trust anything that comes from the govt these days... the thing to think about is this, if everyone had their faces covered with something when outside their homes would the virus spread as quickly as it has in the UK and would it also reduce the load on the NHS?
@@Loganwolfen Try this. Do you have a microfibre cloth/facecloth? About 30cm square? 2 folds, now 10cm X 30 cm. Roughly sew the short edges. Fix (sew) elastic to the corners, sufficient to fit around your head with some tension. You now have a 3 layer microfibre mask that should fit over your nose and be tight on your chin.it will wrap around the sides for a good seal. Do you have a vacuum cleaner? Does it use HEPA filters? Find a spare, you have a pocket inside the mask where a 10× 12cm filter will fit if you wish, just cut to size. All washable. Alternatively, search "Bikers neck scarf" on Google. If folded correctly will give you at least reasonable protection for not much money.
Indeed. I am more concerned because allergy season so there will be many runny noses and spontaneous sneezing happening. No one knows when someone might sneeze. :)
I look forward to watching your videos every morning. I have learned so much from the way you teach and put forth information. Your opinions are straight forward yet respectful.

Having done a degree course on Bacteriology I thought this was easily digested description of the immune system for the layman, and how IgG and IgM tests will benefit how we move forward dealing with this pandemic. Thanks for all the effort you are putting in keeping us well informed.
Such a true skill to be able to explain scientific information in a way we can all understand. Particularly when you have a great wealth of knowledge yourself. I’ve learnt so much ... and I’m taking daily Vitamin D and ditching the paracetamol ... makes so much sense!
I’m still being told by some friends/people that there’s no 🦠 and that I’m overly concerned.....I’m asthmatic and locked myself down earlier....As my left lung has been damaged from an illness so I’m being ultra careful....It’s really a struggle trying to keep sane whilst they’re laughing & mocking me....Hey ho I’m staying put! Thanks for sharing your knowledge......🙏🏼✌🏻
Ken's: You have every right to be self protective. Is their teasing just their way of trying to communicate, 'Hey, buddy, what's the fuss about? You look normal to us.' The typical explanation of teasing is they want attention. You could practice some replies that shift the attention into them. Stupid stuff can work like, 'How's your cow lick doing?' Or 'Hie's your hang nail doing?' Or 'How's your toenail fungus doing?' The point is to shift focus, poke fun, and deflect the sting.
Wear a mask when going out. It stays in the air for 3 hours. I did all of the washing, distancing, etc. and i still got it because i didnt have a mask.
The mocking and laughing will soon stop. I also recall colleagues mocking and laughing about "covid" and "corona" (beer) just the week before we were all sent home, in March. Now they aren't making as many jokes about it. It just shows that you're a week ahead of them, and is thus much better prepared. Wash your hands, google "virad load" and "severity" of covid-19 and stay safe (I think the Dr. has done something on "viral load" already). Fresh air is recommended in my country, and the same was said in Singapore when the epidemic took off, I distinctly remember that, so sun and air is a good combination - don't stay indoors - but stay at some distance away from others.
I'm sharing your videos here in the Philippines. It's like learning Biology (Virology for specialist) all over again, and that's for free, so you deserve it, doc!

Hi John, thanks for your informative and no nonsense videos. One thing I would correct you on in this one is that the body isn’t a sterile environment, it’s full of bacteria, including in our microbiome. The body works synergistically to keep all this in balance, which is not the same thing as sterile. Thanks again for your excellent videos.

I'm so fed up with the lack of info (I haven't listened to this vid as it's too late for me....prevention should have been the first bit of info to public) that today I wrote my own speech anon of course and stuck it up around the town and village. I put it on the top of dustbins just in case I got caught. I will save this vid for later as I'm sure it's good but imo this info is weeks too late from gov and medical profession.
Thanks to Ansel Keys millions of people have been poisoning themselves for years by avoiding natural fats such as vitamin D rich butter and animal fats in favour of toxic concoctions that claim to reduce cholesterol. Studies have shown that polyunsaturated oils not only cause inflammation but weaken cell membranes making the cells more susceptible to damage and infection and cancer. Saturated fat has been proven harmless and monounsaturated oils have a beneficial effect. Not to mention the supposedly heart healthy foods that are reduced fat and increased sugar.
Fasting is one of the best ways to boost the efficiency of your immune system and help you overcome infections. Some of the myriad benefits of fasting on the immune system and for anti-aging, all evidence based: Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Ideal blood sugar is around 80. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus. When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state. It stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will causes cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses. Deep ketosis virtually eliminates inflammation in the body. This can offset the life threatening symptoms of viral pneumonia which effectively kills you through inflammation. This also creates BHB ketones in your body, which also help your immune system and anti-oxidative system, especially in the brain. Various ketones also provide an additional energy source during infection, which is critical when trying to fight off a bug. In fact you can have as much as three times the total energy available in your blood when you are in deep ketosis, or even more. It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism! T and B cells retreat to the bone marrow and are renewed at a genetic level, each cell having all its DNA repaired. This supercharges your immune system and makes your cells young again. On top of all this, fasting encourages the direct apoptosis (death) of infected cells, shortcutting the typically length process of killing them off through macrophages. Your body releases interferon which is also triggered by the body during viral attacks to shut down the replication ability of the surrounding cells and stop infections. After 72 hours or more fasted, your body actually recycles large numbers of immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire system. It also starts to release stem cells into the bloodstream at this point. When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells. This kills these cells off completely. Senescent cells are responsible for the effects of aging and are the cause of the development of cancer. If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. That is not possible but fasting can help limit these effects by killing off many of the affected cells and limiting the future effects of aging. Eating one meal a day can bring most of these benefits to a lesser degree, and adding a few entire days off from eating per week will have even more effect especially when starting to feel poorly. Pregnant or nursing women should not fast, nor should people with pancreatic tumors or hypoglycemia. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution.

Yes I had chickenpox three times as a kid - the last was the worst, I must be immune now though as I didn't get them when my son did. It seems to be a common thing with chickenpox - my step daughter had them and then 6 months later her mother had her vaccinated against them...then 6 months later she caught them again from her boyfriend.

@@theradiantchild I think I saw in a video of Dr. John he mentioned that when Italy had around 6,000 deaths they estimated the actual amount of infections as 10x the reported amount 60.000 x 10 = 600.000 resulting in a death rate of around 1% at that time. Maybe higher towards 1,2% when taking into account 20% unreported deaths.

Can people that are sensitive for hay fever have more chance on overreacting on covit because hay fever is an overreaction? Or can hay fever maybe have a positive reation when you get corona in that period so you react earlier on an infection becaus your immuunsystem is prepared?
Jan Van Eetvelt if you don’t know your symptoms well then it’s definitely a possibility.....As for the positive reaction to C19 that would interesting! ✌🏻
I have no medical background, but I do get heyfever. I used to sneeze hundreds of times a day until it irritated my bronchials so badly that it would "go to my chest" and I'd end up with a terrible cough and even got bronchitis once or twice from it, and I'd end up on antibiotics because of a bacterial infection that my body "let in" because of the damage done by the heyfever - or at least that's how my doctors explained it. Just based on that, I don't think I'd like to have heyfever and Covid19 at the same time.
The plasma treatment sounds best (unless/until there's a vaccine). Maybe the best thing to do would be to freeze some plasma containing antibodies for use in the future?
I imagine even when we have the immunity we can get the virus again but the body knows just what to do. It will release it's antibodies, which could make the body lethargic or weak. It's fighting back which uses alot of energy and if you don't keep up your health, good nutrients, stress etc, you can drop like a lead nickel. Stay healthy, eat good nutritious food, get the rest you need and an attitude of graditude
Once the body has immunity, antibodies detect the virus early on, before it can replicate. Not enough effort to make one lethargic or weak. Still wise to stay healthy, of course.
Thanks John for a great series of informative videos. The immunity response you have described has an associated heart rate increase which is an ignored symptom for individuals who are otherwise asymtomatic under the current "rules". Health care providers would have to know what your normal resting heart rate is before a heart rate increase could be verified as a symptom ergo why heart rate is disregarded as a symptom. It is reasonable to believe that every person (with a working immune system) who is exposed to COVID-19 will create an immune response as you have explained and will necessarily have the associated heart rate increase. With a good immune system and adequate vitamin D, most individuals (60%?) create the right type of antibodies early in the incubation cycle which effectively halt the infection before any other symptoms occur. Testing most asymptomatic people for the antibody will result in a positive test, but the individual when asked, might well say they had no symptoms. So what would happen if everyone as part of their daily regimen, took their own heart rate every morning as they laid in bed before starting their day. In a few days everyone would know what their baseline (normal resting heart rate) is and if they have a sudden appearance of invaders requiring the immune systems call to arms, they won't have to wait for onset of symptoms or a test to know there is some infection they need to self isolate for. The sudden jump in heart rate at rest is like an early warning system. Why am I so certain the heart rate will jump when exposed to the corona virus, well in 1975 I did a heart rate study in high school where I measured resting rates for myself and a classmate for a period of 2 weeks. At the end of the first week my resting rate suddenly spiked and continued to spike for the second week while the classmates rates remained essentially unchanged. We had no explanation for this anomaly until the day following the study when I developed the classic symptoms of the flu ( cough, fever). The elevated heart rate at rest in the 5 -7 days prior to onset of the flu was due to the immune response to the virus. The key point here is that increased in heart rate is the first indication of infection without a blood test, and of course you wouldn' t be given a blood test or any other test without a symptom. A nation of heart rate taking, self diagnosing, self isolating individuals would effectively eliminate the coronavirus's biggest advantage, namely the pre-symptomatic, asymptomatic super-spreaders who are oblivious to what is going on in their own bodies. By excluding the health care system and governments from the responsibility for the spread (testing, contact tracing) and placing it squarely on the individual we can defeat this thing in a fraction of the time and minimal lives lost. or not.
In Canada nearly half the deaths are seniors and those from Long-Term Care homes! Stated April 13 at Federal Health Officials update found on UA-cam under cpac, time on video is 21:27.
It probably (everything is new and being proven/disproven at this point) is capable of surviving well in water alone. It has a lipid (fatty) membrane which will repel water from destroying the virion (internal infectious part). Think of it as an envelope that is smeared in fat to make it waterproof. If we just dunk it in water, it will bead off the surface and the nasty letter inside is still intact. If however we cut through the fat on the envelope with soap and then dunk it in the water the letter will disintegrate and you don't have to worry about getting hate mail. Hope that makes sense.
I recently read that there have been no scientific studies of how the virus reacts in food or water. They need to start researching now! It's like all those meat packing companies that have closed down due to severe infection rate of employees. What about the meat! I know the acid in our stomachs can kill certain bacteria and viruses, but when the originating animals that had this disease it was present in their gastrointestinal track. So, I'm assuming they got it from eating or drinking???😳
Amazing, we are four months from the time we should have started to mass produce these tests, associated materials and facilities and here in the USA we have apparently gone nowhere.
@@freddupont3597 that (January) is at least a month late start. Since covid19 is so similar to SARS (2003) it shouldn't have taken a good genetics lab more than a few days to come up with that information for SARS-Cov-2 (aka cov19). A geneticist in California who had been working on SARS used the term 90% the same, if my memory is correct. quote from WHO: "ICTV announced “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)” as the name of the new virus on 11 February 2020. This name was chosen because the virus is genetically related to the coronavirus responsible for the SARS outbreak of 2003. While related, the two viruses are different."

@@freddupont3597 I don't question that China has brilliant geneticists. Only that it took too long for the samples to get to them after the outbreak was ignored or suppressed. Kathie Ann That’s a good article but based on assumptions that are unverified in regards of this virus. In fact, the paper I enclosed gives evidence of the contrary. The groups has differences that changes both severity and transmissability.
Wow, I'm listening to you every day now here from Sweden, it is like a daily routine! One question about those antibodies, you said they are created by white blood cells and also that they stay in the blood for some time and that is what you measure with those antibody tests. But even if they disappear and can't bee seen any more, wont they bee created again the next time? Or is it that they are already present and quickly can to run to battle that is called immunity? How fast is that process to create them? I guess it will take some time to create all those antibodies and if you already have a few of them you will recover more quickly?
It's complicated! Memory cells are the library for previous infections. Antibodies will decline over time, but the memory cells can say Hey! i remember that bad dude and kick the immune system into high gear to fight it. askabiologist.asu.edu/memory-b-cell In truth we really don't know how to measure immune system response completely because we have no way to measure what memory cells have in their bad guy library. A few years (don't know real time line) from now a person who is perfectly immune to COVID19 will show no circulating antibodies. I imagine though, that this virus will be in our environment for some time to come, thus always challenging immune system to come out and fight, resulting in antibodies present in the blood.
Andres: The body is always working on self-defense. Some antigens last longer than others. Smallpox vaccine works for a lifetime for almost everybody. Flu vaccine hopefully works for 1 season. Tetenus vaccine works for about a decade, I believe. There is a lifetime pneumonia vaccine, but my internet insist I have it twice because he worries that bronchitis might go into pneumonia. Individual people do vary some in how they react to vaccination

Your videos are the most useful information I've found on COVID on the internet to date. Thank you for your work. I'm recommending my friends watch you where I can because it's sensible and well researched information you're presenting, and it's educational rather than frightening. Even though the statistics themselves are scary. I almost went down the academic path in a health science field and can tell you know your stuff.

everyone should know this information and have it broken down "barney" style. just like everyone should know how to change a tire. everyone should know how viruses and our immune system work. this pandemic has taught us that in a lot of societies there are simply not enough doctors, nurses, and medical equipment to go around if a lot of us get sick at the same time.
And to render even them safe, their minds must be improved . . ."
Agreed. XOX

Yes, especially for those of us for whom our last day of school was over fifty-years ago! ;-)
There was a comment by an expert on the BBC this morning (professor from Leeds university?)
"Those who aren't sick shouldn't be wearing a mask.... Save them for the professionals"
Cue facepalm/ shouting at TV.
(HOW do you *know* if you're not "sick"/ asymptomatic?)
Wear a mask people!
I agree but hard to get hold off. My sister has ordered me one hopefully comes soon cost 9.99

Try this.
Alternatively, search
"Bikers neck scarf" on Google.
If folded correctly will give you at least reasonable protection for
not much money.

Such a true skill to be able to explain scientific information in a way we can all understand. Particularly when you have a great wealth of knowledge yourself. I’ve learnt so much ... and I’m taking daily Vitamin D and ditching the paracetamol ... makes so much sense!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge......🙏🏼✌🏻
If your friends are mocking you....time to get some new friends!!!
Ken's: You have every right to be self protective. Is their teasing just their way of trying to communicate, 'Hey, buddy, what's the fuss about? You look normal to us.'
The typical explanation of teasing is they want attention. You could practice some replies that shift the attention into them. Stupid stuff can work like, 'How's your cow lick doing?' Or 'Hie's your hang nail doing?' Or 'How's your toenail fungus doing?'
The point is to shift focus, poke fun, and deflect the sting.
Stay safe !

Some of the myriad benefits of fasting on the immune system and for anti-aging, all evidence based:
Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job.
Sir Dr John Campbell!! Thank You!!
Morning Dr John thank you so so much your videos have helped me and my family in so many ways the information you give has help me be more educated too this virus,in ways I can protect my family and my home 💕

Silvana: Or maintain a data base if potential repeat donors or both?
Thank you, good Sir! You are truly a blessing with all of your knowledge!! GOD BLESS!! Happy Resurrection day!

Ric: O type is less vulnerable to Covid-19. A type is more vulnerable. B and AB are in the middle range.
By excluding the health care system and governments from the responsibility for the spread (testing, contact tracing) and placing it squarely on the individual we can defeat this thing in a fraction of the time and minimal lives lost.
or not.
What are your thoughts on the reemergence of the virus in those who have had the disease and been cleared.
@Andrew Ongais we dont know that though. The report of the 50 Koreans show it was a reemergence after they recovered and were discharged

Hi John..How does the virus react in water?

@@freddupont3597 that (January) is at least a month late start. This name was chosen because the virus is genetically related to the coronavirus responsible for the SARS outbreak of 2003. While related, the two viruses are different."
@@randyrick8019 Nonsense!
On Jan 10th, the first known case was Dec 27th!
I am not a geneticist, but many articles have praised the Chinese for the speed at which the genome was decoded and shared with the world!
@@freddupont3597 I don't question that China has brilliant geneticists. Only that it took too long for the samples to get to them after the outbreak was ignored or suppressed. I also agree that in many ways China has been very cooperative, but in other ways not so (not to say the USA has been brilliant). I certainly don't disparage the Chinese population.
@@randyrick8019 The outbreak was neither ignored nor suppressed!, check the timeline: from Dec 27th (first known case at the time) to Jan 10th... How much time can you save, counting that you also need to decode the genome?
Great and useful information! Thanks for all of your videos.
It’s a bit troublesome that the Chinese are reporting on a third strain of the virus. The more rapidly it mutates the harder it will be to get a working vaccin or build up herd immunity.

Kathie Ann That’s a good article but based on assumptions that are unverified in regards of this virus. In fact, the paper I enclosed gives evidence of the contrary. The groups has differences that changes both severity and transmissability.
Excellent explanation! Thank you!
Have a look at T-Cells - they are the cornerstone of adaptive immunity 🙂
I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate what you're doing. It's been a long time since high school. Every time I watch videos a lot of it comes back. Funny how's that works use it or lose. Stay safe looking forward to your next video.
Any way for the average person to determine their blood type?
Kai: And get paid to do it. Donate blood.
Must be a way to find out I can't was given 3 blood transfusion when i was born so can't give blood
@@crusindc5282 I don't think I weigh enough (104) last I heard, but I'll recheck (and eat up!), TY.💙
Donate blood.
