So let me get this right, a group of immigrants assault an NYPD officer. Then some few days later, the chief is cracking down on officer appearances, which will overall decrease officers. Help this make sense?

Yes most people might say these are petty things the NYPD needs to focus on bigger issues.I agree but NYPD has definitely dropped their standards in appearance a lot of their cops look very sloppy.When they show up to a crime scene with all that facial hair and tattoos you don’t know if it’s a prep in a cops uniform!!!! Hopefully the NYPD will also focus on their Cops physical appearance a lot of them are seriously out of shape!!!!

Yeah that’s the point. This is a more subtle way to defund the police. It’s all an agenda to create as much instability as possible for when the cyberattack happens. The powers that be establishment class want the police to quit in record numbers.

Not wearing a winter hat is ridiculous to expect. Should it need to be a department issue one, yes.
NYPD members purchase their own Uniforms, they get a yearly uniform allowance to pay for the upkeep of them and to buy uniform items for replacement. Most use that allowance for other things. At least that’s what happened when I was on the job.

Whoever came up with this is losing it for real. Leave the beards alone and its winter time they need the knit caps.

Pride and respect for the badge has nothing to do with open collars, beards, or the correct hat.

From military to law enforcement, I'll never understand the ban on beards
In the military they used to claim it was due to the seal on SCBA masks for firefighting. That's been proven bunk and they have since moved the goalposts.
In the navy at least, everyone is a qualified firefighter with basic training. Officially it hard to impossible to get a seal on the face when wearing an SCBA mask. Unofficially om subs underway the only requirement is facialhair be shaved in the area the mask makes contact with the face so it will seal

I see no issues when you’re in public you need to be presentable no matter what type of job you have. But beards should be okay as long as they’re clean and shaped up.

How about. Reduced pay but free housing. But that housing has to be in the community you are policing. The real issue is we allowed people who aren’t apart of the community try to enforce laws. It’s like dealing with a step father.
Some agencies put them in apartments for free.
@@Miss.TJ516 that’s how it should be just like the maintenance man. I’m not sure if it is still like this but the maintenance man used to get free or reduced rent if he resided in the apartment complex he services.
The police should be no different, free or reduced rent if you live in the community you are policing. While I can see some saying this is a security issue I would counter by saying that would only be the case if the officer wasn’t integrated in the community.
