OG was very good in first game. He had to wing it and was still impactful. RJ was RJ in Toronto. Quick was solid. I hope things uses precious at the 3/4/&5. Precious is a legite defender.
After seeing both games, it's as if the Knicks and Raptors were two jigsaw puzzles sitting next to each other and somehow the pieces had gotten mixed up by mistake. The trade got the right pieces back to where they belonged. I found it funny that RJ and IQ combined for exactly what they were averaging for the Knicks 33 PPG and OG did basically what he's been doing all year for the Raptors, but somehow swapping them made a difference for each team. Hopefully, this works out well for both teams.
If the 1st game for both teams is reflective of what the future us in store than both sides win on this trade but I feel like things might change as the season develops

looks weird seeing IQ in another jersey, RJ looks like he belongs in TOR. the knicks lose IQs team defensive awareness and disruptiveness and lose RJs inefficient scoring (but scoring nonetheless)...but gain OGs big wing/top 1v1 defensive abilities, knockdown corner shooting, movement off ball; and as a wider affect, clears out more space for Donte, Grimes and Hart to do their thing defensively and be more aggressive offensively. My concern was where is the scoring coming from on the bench. When RJ plays w/the bench(earlier in the year)they did well w/quickley. W/o.g. the perimeter D will improve but he's got 2 score in the 16-19 point range, that's my other concern. I'm not worried if Brunson is off shooting 1 night cuz Randle should step up, as well as the other guys. Otherwise great win. & bench Precious 4 Sims behind I-Heart.

Offensively, there has to be a consistent spread of contributors to get those extra points. Knicks do have other players that can score. Hart, McBride, Grimes, DiVincenzo, even Hartenstein can put up points and create for others. I just hope that the Knicks play hard and IN THE PAINT, not relying too much on the 3 ball. OG is going to be a free agent in the summer. Knicks should have waited to sign him, bet on the relationship with his agents that he would do so. You add him to the mix. As it is, if either Brunson or Randle are injured, there is no one with the ability or mindset to fill in for them. Even short term. Obi and RJ were able to fill in for Randle. Obi was basically cut. Now RJ and IQ are traded. OG has never played like a one. He's a glue guy. That's not bad, but his impact is like .. back in the day players... Shane Battier, Sean Elliot, even Trevor Ariza. Necessary and impactful players but they were never asked to "carry" the team. So now instead of letting RJ (and Obi) develop, we're dependent on this mysterious next move. It won't be Kobe.

He guarded both Anthony Edwards and KAT at times. Grimes can’t do that. Did you see the overall ball movement? Did you see them getting out on the break? OG balances both sides of the ball AND frees up Grimes on both sides of the ball as well. He is what we needed RJ to be.

The question mark is Grimes, you already know what you’re going to get from Hart. But last night everyone contributed offensively except Brunson, and if he was on it would have been a blowout of the best team in the league. But at crunch time we got STOPS. No more sitting your #3 option thru much of the 4th Quarter. We held Minny to 106 and played better defense than since Mitch got hurt. OG is a bigger, better defender than either IQ or RJ and unlike RJ, he makes the right reads and doesn’t get his shots at the rim packed back into his face. Both teams got exactly what they were lacking.
what’s crazy is Ju our most consistent scorer. when is the last time he scored under 20? Ju ends up hurting us with the turnovers and not reacting to double or triple teams quick enough and getting rid of the ball. But the bully ball Ju been playing has been damn near unstoppable.

It's not really about "overhype". It's who he is. He's a career 38% 3pt shooter and an even bigger 44% on corner 3s, which is what this offense offers our wings. He finishes stronger in the paint. Him and Donte cutting are gonna take this to a new level. And Brunson had a very uncharacteristic game from the field. We are a better team overall just because of the defense.

Donte is looking like a more skilled John Starks right now, and Grimes needs to work on becoming Allan Houston. IQ was incredible and will be missed, but 1 of the 3 had to go, and it had to be IQ, because he could not play the 2 position full time like Donte and Grimes could.

IQ was incredible and will be missed, but 1 of the 3 had to go, and it had to be IQ, because he could not play the 2 position full time like Donte and Grimes could.
