I am currently leading a restoration effort at Hutchinson Cemetery, which has suffered from vandalism for nearly a century. Today, we installed a gate at the entrance to help deter further damage. In addition, security cameras will soon be placed on-site to enhance protection. For those who may not know, I serve as president of a historic preservation group with 501(c)(3) status, allowing us to continue efforts like this to preserve and protect historical sites. I anticipate questions about volunteer opportunities for this project; however, due to insurance limitations, I am unable to accept volunteers. I have received permission from the property owner, a large timber company, to serve as the cemetery’s guardian. For now, we strongly discourage visits to the site. It is under increased law enforcement surveillance and soon video monitoring and is located on private property.
Oh my Lord. I just can't wrap my head around vandalizing a cemetary, only a very sick mind would think it's good clean fun. Thank you Robert an Dan for all you do.
Thank you so much for what you do. I would be devastated if someone vandalized my daughter’s grave. I love going to her cemetery and peacefully walking around reading the stones and honoring the residents ❤
I cannot believe people would enjoy vandalizing a sacred burial ground. Shows what this world has come to. Thanks so much for caring. Blessings from Michigan.
It looks like a beautiful place, and nothing makes me more disgusted than people who desecrate graves and cemeteries. I hope you can keep people out that mean to just party and do damage. Great job on the gate, guys. I'll look forward to updates on this cemetery. Thank you, Robert and Daniel for making a difference.
Where is the "OTHER ROBERT"???? .. I pray he's well. I appreciate all the you do as well preserveation of graves and too the "Old Bird Farm". I'm a veteran Marine; Veteran Cop;,,,,Im retired now but we are kindred spirits. - jfm - Portland, OR, USA
How very sad, and disappointing that someone would think it's ok to destroy the final resting place of these people. Thank-you Robert and Daniel, for sharing this and for being willing to put in the hard work to ensure the graves are preserved and respected for years to come. You guys are doing an awesome job.
It's a disgusting and sad shame that some people think it's "ok" to go out and vandalize, destroy and desecrate a landmark and historical cemetery. They'll answer for their disrespectful deeds someday. Thank you Robert and Dan as well as all the others involved in saving and preserving this beautiful old cemetery. Bless you all for all that you do.
There he is!! Hey Daniel 👋🏻 Man, it's been a minute. Good to see u. Y'all did a great job on the gate hanging. Anytime ya gotta move dirt, it's hard work. Take good care❣️😊
Hey Robert, I grew up in that area. I have spent the night at that cemetery, well outside of it,that was in the nineties ,I have always been amazed by that cemetery. Their was damage then, The open one, had water in it. And the headstones weren't messed up,a couple did look like grave robbery but, it has been so long ago. Im glad you are fighting for it. Someone shooting that beautiful monument, no respect. I'd love to do what you do. Thank you to you and your people that help. I miss being in that area and still have family and history there.
Heartbreaking that folks trash people’s graves like this,This is someone’s beloved family!! Thank you guys for working hard to preserve these beautiful Treasures👍💕
We've had several old cemeteries torn up by vandals.thankfully they caught the kids who damaged grave makers few yrs ago .they were charged and fined with the costs of replacing every one of the markers they'd ruined.
I felt a "kinship" when you first posted on youtube about this cemetery. Thank you so much for taking up guardianship of it. Was their home, homestead, or plantation located nearby? Has Joy followed up on ancestry? ❤❤🙏
You all are doing the right thing. Remember Galatians 6: 9-12. "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith."
Robert I think that it is great that you help to try to take care of cemeteries in the woods and in places that you would never think about seeing a cemetery and that is very nice of you and thank Scott for me for helping you and thank you for your hard work
Such a shame to see how people don’t care in this world as to do such a thing to the people at rest is unacceptable thank you and everyone who cares about this and is willing to take the time to help with the cleaning and repairing of the cemeteries the gate is a start and hope it helps as the place is beautiful and a true part of history thank you for sharing 😊
If I lived close, it would be an honor to help you fellas restore this beautiful cemetery. Shame on those who did the damage. You’d think people would leave those resting alone, but some people are not of the mind that some day they’ll be resting too and would like to be left alone. Thank you for your hard work on the fence.
You are to be commended, Robert, for all that you do! You also have a good friend in Daniel, who always seems ready to pitch in and lend a hand. I am glad you are attempting to protect this beautiful place!
Hi...so sad and disrespectful to vandalize a historical cemetery just for fun ....the monuments still standing are beautiful I can imagine how awesome it would all look with the headstones repaired and the overgrowth mowed down.....wrap some barbwire around the trees and attach it to the gate poles and then bikes won't get through either. lol...good luck with the property. Deborah 🇨🇦🙏❤️
So very sad someone would do that to a beautiful resting place. We were taught way back to respect cemetery’s from my Mamaw on through the generation. Glad you all are fixin it up and trying to preserve that beautiful place. God bless you all.
What a beautiful family cemetery. Always so sad that it has been lost to time and a lack of interest and consideration. What you all are doing is truly honorable and beautiful... Thank you..
Great job on the gate. I appreciate your dedication Robert, and Daniel's help in trying to protect these resting places. I have seen restoration projects in my own area of long neglected cemetaries. I have seen vandalism. Those responsible are usually young and unwise. Authorities usually impose fines and restitution here, that is if the culprits are found. It is disturbing to us because we have respect for the lives represented. That being said,None of us can undo all the wrong done in the past. We can't possibly imagine everything that may occur in the future, all we can take care of is now. I hope these videos cannot only document these historic locations, but also impress those that think respect can only be gained by force,or rewards. These things must be taught. I think that's where society fails a lot especially now days. People have grown apathetic and don't think these things matter, other things are more important. Not all people,! I give credit where credit is due. Someone asked the question, "Why can't people just leave **** alone?" Lack of respect is one answer. Wickedness is another. It's been here since Adam and Eve,and we have to fight that within ourselves. It isn't always something laws and order can do anything with. We all have it within to do wrong. Some people response to hearing a right thing, others have to be shown. All need to understand our rewards for right doing are in the doing of it!! Then only after we leave this world we receive our gain!! I probably wrote another book, sorry. Be safe,💞from Ky.
I agree with you. People just can't leave stuff alone, can they?! Dorks!😕 They either touch, damage, or steal. Even at Disneyland, a few of the attractions put people within arm's reach of parts of the ride that are not meant to be touched. Of course there are surveillance cameras and when someone does touch, a voice comes over an intercom loudly instructing the person to stop. Most put their hand in the water on the various boat rides. I could NEVER. I wish a loud booming voice would scare off these cemetery vandals! They'd need to change their underwear after a scare like that!😂
I just can’t imagine anyone wanting to destroy a cemetery in the woods or anywhere else that is someone’s loved one buried there and that’s so sad to me
Many thanks to you, Robert, for your leadership in the preservationist group. I know you make sure things are done right. This cemetery doesn't deserve to be disrespected like it has. Not only should the gravestones have been left alone but the property itself isn't meant to be repeatedly driven through or laying junk in. People can be so pathetic.
Good work gentlemen. A couple of questions if I may. Is the surrounding land owned by an individual or timber company? The copper wire cut off the hydro poles, is that a ground wire? Keep up your good work. I've been hoping there would be videos of this.
Thank you gentlemen, my utmost appreciation to you for giving your time and effort to restore this wonderful old cemetery. I will be following your progress . Good luck 👍
its a beautiful spot to lay in rest. I hate that its been touched by no good people who know nothing better. Please do keep us informed, I truly do want to see it fixed.
That is really sad,,don’t those people realize it could be one of there relatives that could be buried there,,..some really don’t care about someone loved ones are buried there..
There are a lot of ignorant mean people in this world. Always have been, always will be. Thankfully there are good people to do right where needed. I like Daniel. He's a good guy.

I found that cemetery about 15 years ago. Went back many times and cleaned it. It looked totally different just a few years ago. So sad!!! There once was an iron fence a few feet in front of the entrance. It’s gone now. There are graves there as well….I was told it was slave graves.
I had heard someone had cleaned it in the past. My biggest fear was that we would attempt preservation and restoration just for it to be vandalized again, which is why our first steps are increased security.
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG love it!!!! It seems to be a hang out with drinking and obviously that has turned into destruction. So heartbreaking. 💔 would love to help if you decide to invite others.
I've said this before. You ought to go to your local hardware store, or feed 'n' seed, and look for a hand auger. My dad had one all my life. Just a few twists of the handle, then pull up the dirt, then repeat, as often as needed to get the hole as deep as you need. They work in all soils. Anyway, putting up that gate is a great start towards helping preserve the site. It's hard to believe what some people will do.😡
Another great video Robert. It's so sad how people would stoop that low and destroy monuments inside a cemetery. Is there graves outside the wall and was there a church and town nearby?

The Hutchinson plantation would have been close or this was more of a community cemetery?
Look at that red clay! No mistaking that you are in GA.
You guys have good hearts. Nice job.
They sure do! 😊
Just….Thank you for what you are doing to save and protect all of the families buried there as well as the local history they created. ❤
Daniel, I'm the pack mule for my family. It makes us tough!
You all are doing the right thing. Remember Galatians 6: 9-12. "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith."

Such an amazing cemetery, I hope Dan has a chance to visit and provide some historical information about who the family was.
Why can't people just leave shit alone!!! They seem to feel they have the right to destroy everything they touch. NO RESPECT FOR ANYTHING!!!!
