  • Here's some latest and most likely final footage, images and updates of the 6J46 Peak Forest - Salford Hope Street derailment that happened above Sidmouth Street in Audenshaw on Friday 6th September 2024. The first bit of footage shows the Kirow crane in position on Monday evening awaiting it's hard days work on Tuesday then the last bit of footage shows the most damaged HYA being moved on to a yard about 400 yards or so away from the derailment site by Freightliner Class 66 No. 66532 'P&O Nedlloyd Atlas'. Unfortunately due to work commitments we were unable to capture the loading of the 3 HYA's on to the flatbeds but at least we managed to capture some footage of the most damaged HYA being moved, we captured this footage after work on Monday night and during our lunch hour and after work on Tuesday. The 3 HYA's have now been loaded on to their trailers awaiting removal back to France by the heavy haulage company Allelys which hopefully will take place on Thursday evening.

That's quite an out-of-gauge load! A very rare capture in the UK.

Sure is, they were due to be moved last Wed or Thurs night but it didn't happen so it should be this coming week, hopefully when we've finished work.

Cheers Nick. Yeah work always seems to get in the way these days, but it is what it is. We've still got 19 days holidays to take before the year is out and we finish for the year in the 2nd week of December. Not at the moment no, some of the Network Rail guys we know say it may be early November at the earliest but nothing set in concrete as of yet. It's coming along well now, all HYA's removed so no more traffic left, we passed here on the way home from work before and they were working then so it's moving in the right direction.

It's amazing what damage can be done to these wagons even at a slow speed.

Yes. The thumbnail for the vid shows them in a yard, we live about 5 minutes away from that yard and went down there and as of 7:15pm tonight they were still sat in it. We're awaiting their departure in the coming days.

Not as of yet no, we're still thinking it may well have been the rail snapping with there being zero ballast under that track on the bridge. We know quite a lot of Network Rail guys and we've asked them but they're not giving anything away, we keep saying if it was the snapped rail that was the culprit and on every occasion we get a "you might know to much" look off them. How many times did you go down there when you were driving? Did you drive the 6H53 much?
