There is no Royal Prerogative in relation to who succeeds the reigning monarch. Succession to the crown is set out in various acts the most recent being Succession to the Crown Act 2013. This act set out that the eldest child of the reigning monarch, regardless of gender, WILL succeed the crown on the reigning monarchs death. In relation to Royal Prerogative & the monarchy itself, this extends to letters patient regarding the granting of titles within the family, not succession. Yes, that does mean if you are a family of five people, your family's total contribution is £5. But really, life of luxury? Maybe from a housing commission tenants perspective, of course the grass is ALWAYS greener, but the royal family are in a guilder cage.
