Still makes me cry and gives me goosebumps to this day, my grandad, called Arthur as it goes;) passed away earlier that year, we all got on and screamed it round, I don’t remember anything after the last fence as I was sure he had won and I hit the floor and cried like a baby, great memories. RIP Champion x
I had a couple of quid each way on One For Arthur and did pretty well out of it as I recall. Brilliant horse. RIP. I also backed Corach Rambler this year, so I’ve been lucky. Years ago, before there was online betting, I sort of picked Corbiere to win, but my Dad, who sadly is no longer with us, had already been out to the betting shop and wouldn’t go out again. I enjoyed reminding him for years that Corbiere won 😂
Something similar with Mon Mome. I remember picking it and getting a milky bar for it while he got 100 quid. Now my dad keeps claiming he fancied it and it wasn't me. He's never fancied a 100/1 shot in his life, and he'd never put 1 quid on a horse he fancies in his life either, especially at those odds.
One for Arthur was brilliant that day, made more money on Saint are 50/1 ew, also got me the placepot up, never forget Davy russell pushing him up at the elbow, was delighted when he won the next two nationals on the mighty little tiger
RIP Champion 🌹
