A Marshall Full Stack gets SCHOOLED by a LEMMY Full Stack!

- I'm comparing a Marshall 100W Full Stack to a BRUTAL Lemmy Marshall Full Stack, which means that the bottom cab is a 4x15 instead of a 4x12! I'm using a 1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom and a 1974 Gibson Grabber bass (you'd be surprised how much Rickenbacker this one sounds)
" What's your bedroom setup?",. "Oh, just a little 'ol Lemmy stack." Oy!!!!
Hahaha! Only if your wife is Lita Ford 😂
Way back when, I had a black panel Twin loaded with EVM12Ls sitting on top of a Dual Showman sized 2x15 (loaded with EV SRO15s) in my dorm room. Needless to say I'd get the occasional visit from the staff on the floor below!😁
@@bb_lz9790 I'm surprised that you never just fell through the floor into the dorm below! 👍😁
@@JohanSegeborn Now now Joh, DON'T c-uck yourself! ;oP
These are SUCH vitally important scientific studies Johan.
I salute you sir
Thanks 😉 great to hear that!
in the late 2000s i was at a festival with mostly metal bands playing. they were all loud and heavy and all that stuff. it was time for motörhead to enter the stage and i was standing in the front row: Lemmys amp got pushed on stage and people paid their tribute. After a while Lemmy stepped on stage, plugged his bass in and strummed a note to check if everything is working. As he hit that note everybody took 3 steps back because is was pure mayhem coming out of those speakers. must have been the loudest and most heavy sound i have heard to this day. certainly by far the loudest thing on that festival. i will never forget
Glad to hear that! Lemmy didn’t compromise
Been to Motörhead in Dortmund for the Sacrifice Tour. Lemmy came onto stage, strumming a few chords and I thought " Wow, that's gonna be loud!" comparing to the support act. And then someone turned on the PA... Lemmy flipped his cigarette and said: " In case you're in the wrong show, lemme tell you: We are Morothörhead!" and then all hell broke loose... You couldn't even order a few beers in the hallway of Westfallenhalle II without using your fingers.
This was a treat Johan, This is the best amp channel on UA-cam hands Down, Thank you Johan for all your great Videos!!!
Thanks Ricky! It’s great to hear that!
I never thought a full stack would ever sound thin in comparison with anything... but that 4x15 gives such girth to the sound !
I can't imagine the pain in the room without ear protection...
That's outrageously good. Those 15 inch speakers are thunderous. imagine hooking up a Marshall Major to those cabs, I think the earth would tilt over!
Thanks, I have a video where I play a Major 8x15” full stack on the channel actually
Whoa, the Lemmy stack sounds huge! I need to try a 4x15 some day.
Thanks! Glad to hear it
That Lemmy stacks sounds monstrous!
Thanks man! Glad to hear it
Lemmy (RIP) knew what he was doing. The addition by the 4x15 is great, also for guitar. Great video, thanks Johan!
Could you put your power trio back together, and make some recordings with the Lemmy stack? Would be interesting to hear in the mix.
Thanks Bengt! I’d be delighted to do that! Cheers
Since guitar frequencies are so directional, I always thought it made sense to have slanted cabs on their side to widen the space being hit.
Puts me in mind of the old Wem Watkins V front Dominator amps.
Jeez, you can feel the air pressure with the lemmy stack
Thanks, yeah being in the room I can testify on that 😂
Gene Simmons played a Grabber in the early KISS days- you can see it on ALIVE!.
Yeah classic Kiss bass!
Lemmy's tone is instantly recognizable when you play bass.
preferred the lemmy setup for both bass and guitar in this recording ....
Thanks! I did too!
Always look forward to your demos they have helped me out so much with achieving my tone
Thanks Josh! Makes my day to hear that!
I need a cigarette now. That 4x15 sounds amazing with the grabber!
Thanks! 😂 Great to hear that!
Your videos are always fun Johan. Thanks for bringing the smiles.
Glad you like them!
It's not even close!!!! That tone is insane! The bigger speakers just push so much more volume out I love! I'd love to hear some Stoner Metal riffs through that amp in ridiculously low tunings 🤣
Thanks! I’ll try to include that later on
That is an amazing idea. Please Johan pick up some stoner guitar player in the town and bring him to your rehersal room. 😂
I expected the Lemmy stack to sound good with the bass, but I was actually surprised by how much more I preferred it with the guitar, also! 😎
Thanks, yeah it adds both bass and presence
Love the sound of that 4x15! So full sounding but really dwarfs the 4x12! I have some 15’s but don’t really use them. I want to line my two 15” bass cabinets with fiberglass and close the back up but port them.
Thanks Scott! I have a blanked in ‘floor’ of this cab to tighten it up a bit
Wooohooo finally a dinosaur jr shoutout
I love Dinosaur Jr!
I have a George Lynch signature Randall 4x12 slanted cabinet. It is slanted side to side like what you did with the Lenny cabs here. It is loaded with Celestion Lynchback speakers. It sounds amazing!
Lemmy knew what he was doing 🤘😎🤘!!
Indeed! 🤘❤️
The one setup that covers all the bases. Amazing guitar rig. Amazing bass rig. On Lemmys journey to the underworld - legend has it satan couldn’t carry that rig so up to the pearly gates they went
That was awesome! Thanks Johan. The Lemmy stack was killer for the rhythm parts - really punchy - but I preferred the standard stack for the single note work.
Thanks Eddie!
My ears are still ringing from the last Motorhead show I saw...10 years ago! haha great video!
Hahaha! Thanks
Lemmy schooled everybody! EVERBYODDDDYYYYYYY!!
🤘
That Grabber tone....OH HELL YESSS!!! BRUTAL!!
Cheers! 🤘
Amazing!
Both rigs sound incredible in their own way. 👌
Thanks Emil! Glad you like them!
I'm surprised with how good those 15s sound here.
Thanks!
I never thought a Standard Stack could sound weak and faint.... I'll go to my rehearsal space and cry a bit together with my standard stack 😅
Hahaha! Everything is relative 😂 but I’m sure there are settings and applications where the 8x12 wins too
Thought the Lemme stack would be really bass heavy but it sounded great. My back hurts just thinking of moving that 415 cab LOL! Thanks Johan
That Lemmy rig sounds kick ass. Would i play through one of those 1979 cabs? Absolutely!
Thanks, glad you like it!
Mate bought a Murder One RI head, 4x10 + a 4x 15...
It loosened nails in the tin shed we practiced in!!!
He ran a P-Bass through it.... stupid loud!!!
The Lemmy stack has some punch to it for sure. It must have been shaking the room! Cheers!
Yeah quite physical! Cheers!
Wow ,that's massive! Go big, or go home! The ordinary stack sounded like a combo in comparison.
Marshall needs to re-issue those 4x15 cabs. A wall of 4x15 cabs, woooohoooooo!!!
Also:
Hendrix in his later years used a Super Bass with a standard 4x12 setup
That sounds GLORIOUS with.a bass..
Thanks Michael!
AWESOME, Just awesome! Takk skal du ha Johan! 😁
Thanks glad to hear it!
Damn, that sounded awesome!
I’m kinda wondering if Lemmy’s set could have been scaled down slightly for similar effect? Meaning that the full Lemmy Stack is a 4x15 and a 4x12. Now, imagine a half Lemmy Stack of a 2x15 and a 2x12. Would that give a similar tone? Furthermore, now imagine a 1/4 Lemmy Stack of a 1x15 and a 1x12.
Could one get an even smaller scaled down version of his tone just with a scaled down speaker compliment yet similar speaker configuration if the Marshall amp wattage was scaled down as well?
In the first full stack his amp was at 100 watts. Now what if in the 1/2 version of Lemmy’s stack was using a 50 watt amp and the 1/4 stack version used a 20 watt Marshall amp. Would the tone be consistent across those three configurations? Just a thought in case you wanted to try this idea out. :)
Thanks Dennis! Interesting idea!
Awesome
Sounds
Thanks, glad to hear it!
Holy shit I need a 4x15 🔥🤘
Cheers! 😀
All I can say is.. WOW 🎉
Thanks! 😀
Aloha Johan! Awesome rig!
Aloha Victor! Glad you like it!
Dang, I wish I had a 4x15... and the back to transport it, lol
Hahaha! My back is often broken by pieces like this one
@@JohanSegeborn The elliptical trainer helped me enormously in that regard, but don't get in over your head, the only things we want to see you break are camera stands 📸
Perfect late night apartment rig.
I prefer the Lemmy stack, more precision, more presence. I have two of these 15", one in a 2046 "Specialist" and one in a 15" cab. They sound awesome ! I remember that you have tested these speakers years ago.
Nice collection.
Thanks Marty!
That was amazing! Now all I can think about is running my AC30 through a 4x15 lol!
Hahaha! Thanks 😀
BRUTAL ❤
Thanks! 😀
Lemmy’s rig have more headroom (a big room)… more mid-low end
Damn that sounds good
Thanks Justin!
You should try two straight cabs in a stack, gradually tilting the top cab forward, seeing how much it ACTUALLY matters.
It's weird because on guitar I prefer the sound of the Lemmy stack and on bass I prefer the sound of the standard stack!
Hi! What device are you using?
Hey Johan. Right @ 5.08 you get such a smooth tone and I heard it first time and had to replay it immediately. Those frequencies from the Gibson bass was right there - perfect to my ears. By the way I have 2 A cabs stacked too. I have 2 R/C 55 Hz greybacks and 4 25 watt Pulsonics and 1 G12S and an OEM in the cabinets (OEM @ the top)
My challenge has been recording with no mics. I have a Roland VS 880 with hard disc in from mid '90ies and it has been a drag to record and mix. I'm looking for an affordable alternative, Johan. Any suggestions; I have a pc too.
Hi Steffen! I had the VS840 in the 90s! I think can use some freeware like Reaper on any PC with a sound interface like focusrite scarlet for a very low price
Tak Johan
Du är en gitarrljudspornograf 😁🤘
Dem ultimata komplimangen!! 🤘
oh this one was really good, very special
Thanks!
I play an original era Lemmy stack except my 4x12 check cab has Goodmans 12s it's the ultimate guitar stack as well
Cool! Are those the Audioms?
@@JohanSegeborn yes the 12p 50's and I also have a quadbox loaded with the earlier white labels with 014 cones. It's 70's era correct I prefer them over g12m/h. I have the b version of your 4x15 loaded with g15ms my all time fave celestions there's an old vid on here of me playing that cab with my 70 super pa
They're definitely different, but both sound great!
Glad to hear it! Cheers
the lemmy stack is amazing!
Thanks Audrey!
real beast sound
Thanks Maki!
Great!!! What's that fender tweed?
Monster ... that's the right name
Thanks 😆
Always wondered what it would be like to play through a nice fresh Marshall Major full stack?
Hi! I play Major 8x15” here ua-cam.com/video/aMvw-RtOB9c/v-deo.html
😢FFantastic
Nice sound, love it. Lemmy's stack is a little bit low end.
Thanks!
What happened with 4x15 speakers caps? Why did they not catch on?
Too big and heavy and less utilisation of surface than 8x10
@@JohanSegeborn 8x10 is also something I do not see. Everyone uses 4x12.
Johann, a.k.a. Hot Black Desiato.
Cheers! 🤘
✊🏼
🤘
¿Porqué no los dos?
Yeah why not
Lemmy try that at home!!
I bet he did, and then some!
The Lemmy stack sounds punchy and full.
Thanks, glad to hear it
Snyggt!
Tackar!
use what you got
Yeah indeed, play the cards you’re dealt
