Yvette Cooper Grilled On Immigration And Offshore Processing!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 сер 2024
- Future Home Secretary Yvette Cooper appeared on the Laura Kuenssberg show where she was asked about immigration and offshore processing. She mentioned the Dublin Agreement twice and also talked about sending asylum seekers to other countries. But there are problems with that.

Who pays Laura BBC or Tory party?
The boss of the BBC, Tim Davie, is a Tory and Tory donor,so it’s probably both!
Kuenssberg is getting worse, if that is possible.
Tory party stoge!
Stodge!!
I wonder how much worse Kuenssberg is going to get during this election campaign.
Laura is great at this subtle bias
France offered to allow the UK to process claims in France and no Dublin agreement was required I think. But the Tories declined, Labour just need to say yes please.
Just set up shop in Pas-de-Calais. 😎
The offer of the land to build the asylum processing centre on outside Calais is still on the table.
It would have made so much sense to get processing centres built in Calais and Dieppe, instead of giving the French government MILLIONS of pounds of taxpayers money.Sunak just wasted taxpayers money like confetti, then accuses Labour of wasting taxpayers money! Has he forgotten the 500 Million pounds and counting of money he’s still giving the Rwandan government?
@@DerekHarrison-ue9vv Sunak did not waste tax payers money as such, he gave copious earnings opportunities to his Tory buddies. Such as Clearsprings to house asylum seekers who made millions in profit. And to Rwanda which is classed as development aid.
Found this as I was about to post more or less the same.
As for the questioning, while the best answer to "will you process some people overseas?" would be "Yup, once we get the centre or centres that France was kind enough to offer the space for built and staffed" I suspecvt that Starmer et al. worry that this would repel some voters that they want to appeal to.
LK is a disgrace.
This is a decent example of the difference between giving a long answer because an issue is complicated vs not answering the question at all.
Vote out to help out. Vote Labour after 14 years 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Laura is an instrument of the Conservative Party.
She's already blaming Labour for immigration levels.
And she conveniently forgets that the small boats crossing the Channel has risen to record numbers under Sunak’s watch!
Small boats crossing the Channel are tiny numbers when compared to ‘legal’ immigration visas granted by Tory governments: ONS "Long term immigration visas. Non-EU nationals. YE June 2022: 848,000. YE June 2023: 968,000. June to December 2023: 500,150. Mostly from India, Nigeria, China and Pakistan."
I long for the day when I don't have to pay a licence fee for this broadcaster of the tory party.
I think she earns a lot of money from conservative doners to spread her right wing propaganda.... Money turns the world around...
@@DerekHarrison-ue9vv Not to mention a terrorist was amongst them and was allowed to stay for years.
Laura is already harder on Labour about things they might do in the future than she ever was with the tories after 13 years in power.
When does Laura ever ask anything but a stupid question to a party she doesn't support
Kuenssberg getting aggressive with her questioning, where has this been hiding, oh I forgot she's questioning a labour spokesperson.
The way that host grills Labour compared to her precious Tory MPs is sickening.
Grilled by Frau Flick with no journalism evident.
Laura Kunnesberg please deflect to another channel!
Like the excrement channel.
The word you’re looking for is defect
Keunnsberg is so rude and aggressive in this fiasco of an 'interview'.
Kuenssberg was never especially good at hiding her slavish devotion to the Tories, but now she's not even trying. This entire interview was weirdly aggressive, ignorant and adversarial, in a way she would NEVER behave with a Tory MP. Kuenssberg is a disgrace.
Yeah its true-
If you can ever find the video of Laura waiting for Cameron to make his post brexit referendum announcement (where he resigned), and then seen her afterwards! Oh my goodness! She was sort of normal waiting for it! He announced he was resigning and laura afterwards looks soooo sad! She looked like she would start to cry straight after the camera was off. Im sure as soon as it was off she walked away to be alone with tears!
So obvious that she loves the tories!
She is always aggressive u less it’s a Tory.
She misses the whole point, not mentioning that her beloved tories are to blame for this mess
WHO STARTED THE MESS, WAY WAY BEFORE TORIES, HAVE A RED UP ABOUT BLAIR, THINK YOUR ANSWER WILL COME TO YOU. ONLY ANSWER THE LABOUR LOT EVER GIVE ON ANYTHING, BLAME THE TORIES. EVERYBODY IS SICK OF HEARING LABOURS EXCUSES. 100% I'M NOT TORY OR LABOUR .THANKS. BUT YOU LABOUR LOT ARE LIKE A BROKEN RECORD, ON, AND ON , AND ON.!!!!!!!!!!
Laura K. Boris bit on the side😂😂😂
Superb analysis max thanks

Good Evening Max and all Here ❤
Laura K should be sacked. She’s just a shrill for the tories.
Excellent comment
She’s not even hiding it anymore
Don’t we know it! And her and Clive Myrie are leading presenters for the General Election on the BBC! I wonder if she’ll give Sunak an easy ride, and get stuck into Starmer?
That's exactly how she keeps her job.
Her and fiona Bruce SACK
LK arrogance is based on the belief she is a good journalist-someone should tell her she isn't. Derbyshire should replace LK.
However Macron has already offered that he would permit a processing centre on French soil. That could be done by Labour asap. And asylum seekers that are cleared would be given a ferry ticket to go to Britain safely. This is not sending people to be processed in France, but avoiding small boat tragedies almost from day one.
Do you really trust a country that has more than it's fair share to process people on our half, or to allow us to make the same decision on their behalf?
The only way out of this is to work with the countries where they are coming from, obviously these countries are in need of help.
There's definitely something seriously broken in Westminster and really needs fixing
It's built that way, and is constantly 'fixing' benefactors coffers
I'm not a fan of the BBC political output, but I may tune into the election night stuff just to see Keunnsberg's face even more like a bulldog chewing a wasp than usual when the Tories start dropping like flies. I also reckon John Curtis will cut across Keunnsberg's crap and actually tell us what's going on...using actual facts!!!
My thoughts exactly. It might be interesting to tune into g bee bees on election night. There will be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth.
HAHAHA.!! YOU SAYING LABOUR THE PARTY.! IN YOUR DREAMS SUNSHINE , WITH A LIEING LEADER LIKE STARMER. REFORM , REFORM, REFORM ALL THE WAY.!!!!!!!! SMILE. 😄😁😆😅🤣😂
@@gillianslater9227 Thanks for your shouting contribution Gillian. Just to quietly point out that I'm not actually a Labour voter.

@@gillianslater9227 I take it you're just having a laugh Gillian. If so, good on you...I'm smiling away at the dialogue. Cheers for the entertainment.
Kuensberg should be sacked. She's so biased, rude and ignorant. About time the BBC used a proper journalist /interviewer not an apology for a journalist/interviewer who is so in favour of the tories it's she's a joke..
Evening Max and all here.
Typical tory party promises broken!!!
Not far enough away. If she is on another channel she will still be heard. If I had my way she would on the first rocket to the moon. With all her conservative friends to make sure she is not lonely.
Me and my son rate you big time
"100,000 back log is a deterrent", well, thats working.
Yeah, that's completely fine, however, over the other side of the reporting fence, LK appears to be left completely un-managed internally by the BBC - why is that?
You've nailed it again Max ❤
Labor will have a problem because voters will have an expectation that the problems created by the Tory government can be solved within a year. There will be a lot of disappointed people out there. It will take years to fix the mistakes made by the Tories the last decade.
Labour are ruling out fixing the problems the Tories created before they even get elected. By the way for someone who spells quite well, have you not noticed there is a letter U in labour?
What you gonna do from day one a disgraceful but not suprising question from her
Laura Kuntsberg was pretty nasty here.
Tory cheerleader Kuenssberg needs moving on to GBNews as quickly as possible, she's an effing disgrace, where's the balance and impartiality?
I just wonder if they are also going to whine for 4 years, like that orange dude in the US.
Tory cheerleader? You're having a laugh. No leave her on the BBC please, she's as relevant there as the BBC.
@@colinwilson3750 she'd fit right in with all the other knobheads on GB news, simple television for simple people.
@@colinwilson3750She is absolutely a Tory cheerleader. Daily proof of this.
@@colinwilson3750Sadly not laughing. The witless bint is unbridled in her Tory love.
Just processing the claims will bring down the numbers eventually
Sack Kuesnberg
If only Kuenssberg would grill the Tories with the same fervour
People who have No Documents and have No Right to be here Are Going to be Returned Where Exactly? Which Other Country Is Going To Accept Them.
Can the BBC swap Laura for the totally unbiased and impartial Gary Lineker?
Lauras dad was Tory MP
France offered processing facilities before people come to the UK and the Tory UK Government turned it down, pretty sure if Labour asked France if their offer was still open to allow asylum / refugee processing on behalf of the UK in France that France would be receptive to that, but it will require many more staff to process claims both in the UK for those already here and for those trying to come here from France...
Her husband Ed Balls invented and introduced Foreign Aid
#Chris Mason and #Laura Kuenssberg are the mouthpiece of the Tories.
Victoria Derbyshire is the only BBC Journalist that truly challenges all politicians no matter what party, she will call them out when it warrants it.
Rather than disingenuously sending people somewhere else for "processing", or opening more safe routes and risk hemoraging support, perhaps the best bet for labour is processing people before they even reach here. I heard there's the option of a processing center in france, that would render the boat crossing gangs redundant. Just thinking out loud.
Runour has it, when GB news shows instruction training videos for presenters, they just put Laura Kuensberg on.
There must be thousands of retired solicitors and barristers who could act as temporary judges to deal with the case backlog.
So much for impartial
The EU is not offering access to the Dublin Convention to the UK. It's a single market thing.
Why am I always reminded of ET when I see Yvette Cooper?
Since the election was announced, both BBC News headlines for Keunnsberg's Sunday programme, so far have been negative Labour headlines!
I fancy Yvette Cooper❤
She's Ed Ball's wife!
Everything is going to take time. It’s not going to be fixed from day1. Will take at least 2 terms to fix some of the issues. As no one knows what majority, if any Labour will have, then it’s difficult to say with any certainty what will be achievable. We certainly don’t need some kind of victory rally ahead of the election (kinnock). If Labour get a massive majority then hopefully things will move at a much quicker pace.
The Rwanda “deal” determined the price tag: £1b for 200 deportees.
It's so clear what needs to be done from day 1 on this issue and Max is aluding to it here - get processing those applications at a rate of knots! It's common sense, but the Tories just want to con the hard of thinking we need to take away our human rights to 'get it done'...So in effect harm ourselves, rather than work the problem.
Why not just copy the Spanish Immigration model that immediately gives illegal migrants the right to settle thus ending the backlogs, because Spain is struggling to fill in work shortages in farming, factories, shops, carers and nurses
@@chriswickham1279 because you want every worker in the UK to become British only
So basically labour will have to negotiate which will take years. So no one will be going soon anywhere. Funnily enough Serco and clear springs still have contracts till 2029. Clear spring receives £3.5 million a day this is for housing and transportation. Unbelievable that we will see no change whatsoever ever from any other party. This question should have been asked Laura. Incompetence all the way around.
She wasn't saying they would use the Dublin convention, but that it had been used and something like it could be reviewed for feasibility. I.e. not all overseas processing is automatically off the table, but the Rwanda scheme is.
Without revealing her hand, perhaps Labour has already been in talks with the relevant officials instead of waiting until 'DAY1' before starting work. The first 100 days is an important milestone and Labour knows that it would be advantageous to reflect favourable progress.
Labour is doing everything it can not to frighten the horses in the 'Red Wall' constituencies, and that includes taking on Tory policies.
Journalists set policies. When Labour pledged not to raise income tax or N.I, the bloke on Sky News said 'So you'll be raising VAT then?' The next day Labour and the Liberals had to come out and pledge not to raise VAT. Where are they going to get the money from to fix things????
The boats would be halted by French based processing centres!
Labour have already said they will employ more processors to get the numbers down
That should be processed in another
Have to say I ve tried to be unbiased with kunsberg , but her interview of cooper today was outrageous , and well done Yvette cooper for ignoring this vile woman’s biased attitude
How did Kuenssberg get this job, because it was not her talent!
Surely the obvious thing would be not to send them to France once they're already here, but to process people in France before they leave. Then you get to swap the small boats for a bloody big boat!
So 5 more years of failure? All blamed on the tories? She is grasping at straws that don’t exist
She gave Victoria Atkins an easy ride.
The EU have a new economic migrant treaty. Part of that requires members to share the load Italy and Greece have. There is no way we can enter the Dublin Accord’s alone. That’s cherry picking.
We have to accept the economic migrant treaty as well.
but this was what the Lady say, she will process the claims and beside of this make new agreements
It does rather disturb and disappoint me that the Labour Party seems to dance to the Tories tune of the subject of immigration. By allowing this, the Tory party is permitted to dictate the election conversation. Immigration is NOT an issue. Immigrants are necessary to fill the vacancies that native British are either unwilling or unable to undertake and given our aging population this is not going to change. Furthermore immigration, despite what the Tory press wants us to believe, is not an issue to ‘the man in the street’ who is really concerned with our declining public services and the economy. By making us believe that Immigration is an issue is just one more attempt to divert attention from the Tories failures over the last 14 1/2 yers.
Kuensberg couldn't grill a burger!
Why can’t Labour have a clear strategy on this. More people to do the processing in the UK and speed up the decision. Give more jobs to people in the UK. It’s because it’s going to be a continuation of austerity policies rather than the change needed.
We don't need to be part of the Dublin Agreement. The French have already offered their assistance IN FRANCE. Tories said no. If Labour say Yes then it could be up and running in months with a new Dublin agreement coming later.
Labour being pulled on imigration all the time this will be same crap different day
Kunsberg with her aggressive attitude to Labour undermines her own argument. There are questions Labour needs to address but they can dodge them by highlighting the questioner’s bias.
If she gives a number this man catches them out because they can't get a number the media are crafty trying to outwit them
One thing I'm looking forward to on election night and the next morning, and hopefully it will happen, is Kuenssberg's face as Labour gain after Labour gain start coming through.
Wasn’t there a plan where we would process claims in France before people crossed the channel in agreement with France? Wouldnt this be the easiest and most effective way to stop the boats crossing? Rather than go with a policing tactic that will probably be in effective.
Laura and her 1 million quid wardrobe, in touch with the ordinary millionaire
L K is such a tory sympathiser, such a biased bbc interviewer...
Kuenssberg is not only a non journalist but also a poor interviewer. She should stick to interviews with Prince Andrew so that they can talk about pizza and sweating.
evening Max...if a Labour govt did zip, zero, nothing it would be more than the Tories did in 14 years...
Did she arrive in the Boris bus of Angela and starmer
That was a stupid question but it was also the wrong answer. Sending people abroad to be processed is not the answer, processing their claims before they even enter the country is.
Off shore processing/pre screening in France is the way to stop the boats. This border security command is a pathetic nod to the right because maritime and hummanitarian law prevents stopping the boats except for picking them up and bringing them to the UK. Taking them back to France would involve invading a sovereign territory!!
Ireland I believe now are thinking of the 3rd country asylum seeking claims. It’s ok by law seemingly to do it but not Rwanda because it’s unsafe. The resin is Ireland just hasn’t got the relevant infrastructure to process them Algeria, Tunisia has been mentioned and it will pass in Ireland.
By that you mean, giving Cooper a grilling! Cooper can’t answer anything, which is why it’s so protracted.
Cooper’s dishonesty and evasion is the issue.
Kuenssberg is trying to prove she's a good journalist ,but we know she's not. unless your Tory .
To be fair, in the grand scheme of things, I don't think this matters too much in regards the election result
Is Yvette a specialist on maintaining
rubber boats then. R
Don't like the answer speak over them
Haven't Labour said they're going to cut immigration?
The SNP said that's really bad for Scotland
Ten years to fix this mess ....ta Max .
On day one, Yvette, what are your plans? Because you've got a sh¡tload of people to deal with, that we Tories left for you. We'd like the backlog, etc, sorted by close of play on day one.
Remind me, Laura, what day of the Tory solution is it?
What in Gods name is Kuenssberg wearing?! It’s like a 1940s woman’s siren suit
yeah but she is softening people up to the idea of EU negociations....make them want it too
Politicians should be grilled, and held to account but Laura Kuntsberg only does it to Labour politicians. She barely gives any pushback on Tories. I can't stand her.
