    --------
In this clip, Dee Jay Daniels and DL Hughley talked about some of the interesting things that happened while on set of The Hughleys. One such thing that seemingly reoccurred was Dee Jay's mom physically disciplining him on set. It became so frequent that Dee Jay said the people working in wardrobe would warn him when his mom got to set.

@@Anthonycheesman33 It's a coping mechanism. We look back at our trials and tribulations and look for the humor in it. Sometimes we are laughing to keep from crying. Also those were different times, it was seen as normal by most people. There were states that still allowed for corporal punishment in the schools. Basically a stranger could beat children, and there were no consequences for the teacher. I find that to be highly disturbing, these teachers have all kinds of lunatic behavior going on in their private lives.

I have never been one that was ok with spanking a kid or taking a belt to a kid. I always thought it wld just make a kid angry and not teach them how to work through issues. If the response is always a belt, spanking, or hitting a kid to teach them consequences, they're learning the wrong lesson. To do it in front of other people, is public humiliation. Why embarrass your child?

Right. It shouldn't be the only response and if it is, it should be the last resort. If you frequently have to spank a child, then clearly the spankings don't work else it wouldn't become routine. You need another approach. Also if you spank in anger (which likely over 90% of parents do) then you're setting a bad emotional example for your children because they will equate physical violence with anger.
