My day gets instantly better when a j.kost video pops up! I've been super depressed recently and haven't been shooting and this is a kick in the butt to get working
Very nice lesson about . Unfortunately I don’t have all that space on Adobe cloud to have all those albums but thank you for goes deep down all specifics about Lr mobile.
Great video Julieanne, I’m always watching for your new ones! I wish Adobe would put out a vid explaining the connectivity arrangements and data flow. My mobile requirement involves a couple of months on the road working with my MacBook tethered to my iPhone from isolated campgrounds. Without an understanding as to how data moves around, I can kill my 25GB data plan in under a weeek as happened last year. Once exhausted, the data plan switches over to slow unlimited data, without tethering. Synching back to my home office would be ideal for backup and edits, but only if I am on WiFi.
Thank You, Great Presentation - learned a lot. I have question on image with keywords etc. transferred to IOS devise via USB / or SD card (not trough cloud sync) from desk-top Lightroom Classic will retain keywords etc.as defined on LR CC ?
Your videos are always incredibly clear and helpful. Thank you. One question - Is there a way to transfer several images that are already in Lightroom Classic from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom (so they are stored in full resolution on the web) without migrating an entire catalog and retaining the work done on the images in Lightroom Classic?
Great videos, but the workflow for Lightroom on my iPad mini could be simpler. some issues: - I like to copy the images from the SD card to an external SSD. Import in Lightroom, edit, caption, rate. Export back to the SD drive the RAW files, and at home connect the SSD to my iMac. Import the photos in LR Classic. But no metadata with edits, rating captions are in the exported images. This method would be a lot faster than relying on the cloud when in a rush. Also would be good for when I travel to areas with slow or limited internet. - I can not paste captions from a photo to multiple photos at once. I can do that on the Android phone version. Can this essential feature be implemented in the Apple ecosystem? if I have 20 images from the same shoot I need to submit captioned, it is time-consuming to do copy/paste one at a time. These are dealbreakers for a working photographer. I have LumaFusion and FinalCut Pro X, and those 2 allow editing on the iPad on an external SSD and finish on the Mac at home. I would expect Adobe would allow its software to have a similar integration. The lack of copy-paste of captions and keywords to multiple photos at once is puzzling, as it is allowed on the Android version. I wrote about this to Adobe 2 - 3 years ago, but the simple issue has not been addressed. I love Lightroom Classic, but I am looking forward to some competitive alternative to Lightroom for the iPad.
Julieanne - that was a brilliant video which was so simply explained yet fully detailed; thank you. One question that I have is assume a workflow where photos are imported into LR Classic (by synchronising folders looking at a HD location) and then some of the photos are added to the collections in order to sync with Lightroom CC. The edits are made in CC (perhaps on an iPad) and therefore, based on what you have explained, sync back to Classic - in the collections part. My question is are they also synced in the folders part of Lightroom Classic? I ask because when travelling I will typically create a small crop of photos that I want to edit and share that day (social media, friends etc) - which I'd like to start doing on an iPad - but then later, when home, edit the remaining pictures to complete the project (a phonebook for example). I would want the edited photos to be in the folders section rather than having to edit them as well for a second time along with the unedited photos Thanks again for a great video
I’m trying to understand the synch process.. You said when I take an image on my mobile it’s synched to the cloud and back to Lrc via collections. I believe you said Lrc is looking at the cloud and also storing the file on my local hard drive? Maybe I’m misunderstanding but If Lr Classic is getting info from the cloud why is it still storing storing the file locally on my internal hard drive. If anyone could elaborate it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Trying to research this question, too. Counter to most people, LR (CC) is my primary, not LrC (Classic). I have just noticed that EVERYTHING from LR Mobile and CC is being automatically synced with Classic - and I don’t want this. I have only been able to toggle sync on or off on LrC, but instead I want to control what is being pushed to Classic, and I cannot find out how to do that.
FWIW, and for folks who also have this question - All my research thus far suggests you CANNOT control what LrC downloads from the cloud if you have sync on. It will download everything, and at full resolution. The ecosystem is built around LrC being the ‘Mothership’ or Master Database, OR you use LR (Cloud) ecosystem without LrC.
This is the first video I've watched of yours for over a year. Great tips, thank you! I wish my computer was as snappy in performance as yours. It's always lagging. Is there a way to always show the masking in the sharpening section? It would be great to be able to toggle this option on so as soon as you move the slider, the mask is shown as if you were also pressing the Alt key. I'm looking forward to your next video.
Hi Julieanne, Me again found u on this UA-cam which I need help with,Like I said I made an account on my IPad Pro for one year which works on my iPhone too, But bought an MacBook Pro now, So when I started the Mac and Lightroom it say I need to take a free trail, I can not log in do I have to pay more money again to get started or take the 7 days free trail, No idea what it means sorry 🤔🤔
Hello Julieanne you have great video content and I've been watching for years. I'm stuck on something that I had no problem doing previously with Lightroom Classic. I upgraded to Mac mini and In the past I created collections and synced them to Lightroom mobile. I no longer have the sync icon next to the collection name and also when I create the collection I do not have the option to sync with Lightroom CC. I only have the option to Include selected photos, make new virtual copies or set as target collection. I'm using the latest LRC v 11.3.1. I am pretty good with LR and this is driving me nuts. What I'm I missing? I've done this for years and now I cannot and it's taking up all my edit time trying to find the information. My preferences show no sync activity and when I click o the cloud icon in LR and click on start syncing, it says "You can only sync a single Lightroom catalog" which is not what I want I want to sync my collection. Can you help? Thank you Cindy
nice tuto. for instagram, i share a collection in classic for mobile and drag the raw on it so it uses, I think, the embedde dng preview 2MB and so, on mobile, i can export to instagram. But for some images i am using visual flow profiles and when i want to look the images on my iphone 8;, profile is missing. how can we send profiles to LR mobile ? is there any chance adobe improves the local tools list with local tools categories (ramelli, kelby, mattk, seim,...), solo mode (closes when another opens), sort (some are on tp of list), scrooling easier than arrow on bottom ? I have tons of local adjustments coming from different vendors and this panel is a mess. I don't understand why nobody complains about that right panel. thanks !
Thanks, Julieanne. I am a die-hard classic user but I am looking to bring CC into my workflow. Is the following assumption correct? If the image was created/originated in CC then both CC and Classic would have the hi-res/raw file, however, if the images were originated in Classic then only the low-res images would be sync'ed to CC? Hope this is the case because I don't want to deal with large files in the cloud. Thanks again.
It takes a 37 minute video to explain how to import photos from a phone to LR? Something's wrong. And in the first few seconds it says to create a Collection. I never had to create a Collection to work in LR before.
This video is absolutely worthless because the app has changed and it doesn't have the options in the same place. Importing photos from your phone shouldn't be this hard.

Best explanation about Lightroom mobile and classic workflow I’ve seen so far
Welcome back... This type of video is JK at her very best... Your teaching is the most confident. Keep 'em coming!
Fantastic as always. The know-how density is a high as possible for video. Superb teaching. TY.
You are the best. I can always follow your videos easily and your pace is just right.
Great presentation and thanks for your participation in PVS4.
This is an excellent summary with a wide range of content. Thanks.
Thank you for clarifying the interaction between LR classic & mobile!
I’m going to watch this when I get home. Thank you
This was fantastic! Thank you so much for this tutorial. If you were at Apple, Aperture would not be dead !
Amazing video 👏
Thank you! I Love your videos! you explain everything so well!
I´ll definitely take your lynda courses.
Adobe should pay you for making this! Thank you!
You are fantastic to explain!! Thanks for sharing🙏🙏
Thank you for this very clear video, very usefull
Thanks! You are the best! I wonder how much things have changed in the last 3 years?
A lot has changed in the interface on mobile - I need to rerecord this when I have time...
Great tutorial, thank you!
Thankyou for the tip
You bet! : )
@@jkost thanks :)

Photos synced from Lightroom Classic do not count against cloud storage limit. Put up as many albums as you wish.
Thank you for the info!
Been doing this for year's, now the let’s reverse the process, specifically, LRc on mobile. I know that you good folks at Adobe can do it!

@@FJWoods007 Thanks a lot for looking into this. That makes sense. Wish we had a little more control when it comes to this though.
Thanks Julieanne! Btw, which software are you using to screen record & capture your finger gestures on mobile?
Hello, which mobile device are you using? My Lightroom mobile on android does not have half of the options you are describing (album sync etc...)
I pay for 20 tb of storage so I can edit anywhere and it’s all synced. Is there a way to save some money?

Can we still synchronize from Lighroom Mobile to Lighroom CC with Big Sur. It does not seem to work? Thanks

Correct.
04:33 - the "2 finger tap" for information or histogram does not work on my Android. Is that a feature that only works on a Apple phone?
Correct. You can enable histogram from 3-dot menu.
how do I transfer my edits from lightroom mobile to lightroom classic, before I erase the image in lightroom mobile?
Very nice presentation, JK. Too much in one video, though. Better would be to make a series of videos on this subject.
If only the player had a pause button.
