9:05 "the dingy won't pull it with that motor" Ehhhhhh...You never know until you try! You can actually move a really big boat with a very small outboard, and sure, maybe you couldn't have towed them back to a safe harbor, but you may have been able to get them out far enough to where they could have anchored safely while they address the engine issues. I'd at least given it a shot while there was still a chance. Certainly, doesn't hurt to try. But once they were stuck, then that was it. I guess I'm old school enough to try anything to help out a neighbor. Do enjoy your videos though. Keep 'em coming
You told the guy on that sailboat to drop anchor and he didn’t listen. It was the best advice you could have given. Always drop anchor if you lose your motor. Can make the difference of a minor inconvenience or a total loss of your vessel.
LOL, I know, right? I don't get this. If they couldn't raise the main fast enough and found themselves in trouble in tight quarters, drop the @#$%&! anchor. It's all about buying time to figure things out and not running aground.
I''ve been following you since your start... back with the houseboat. You've gotten a lot of help from folks along the way. You should have a skillset built up by the time of this video. Your boat draws nothing... your motor is small, but sufficient to have helped that guy into some deeper water to get anchored.
Ouch. Motor boaters on a sailboat. Pulling his anchor without making sure that engine was going to stay running was his first of several mistakes. To have a sailboat and wind then not even use them when your engine is down..... Wow. Of course if he was a motor boater he probably would have just rammed the shore line if he had raised the sails.
Hi Trevor, Bring us up to date on your life and the boat. If we ever get together I am going to rig a proper bridle for you. Just takes a length of dockline or old rigging.
Like the lights. Just looked at them on Amazon and they raised the price 2 bucks. Way more lights than I need for my cockpit, but I reallly like that they're USB. All of the DC power outlets on my boat are USB. I ugraded them from the old "cigarette lighter" style because my phone doesn't like charging off of the plug in adapters. Maybe you just didn’t explain it well enough but saying you couldn’t assist the vessel because your dinner was getting cold? That’s sad, but it shows the exact type of shipmate you’d be. Also your midshipmen’s hitch or taut-line hitch was tied incorrectly. You did an overhand knot instead of the finishing half hitch.
