New real estate agents should invest in business cards. Yes, business cards might seem old fashion, but they are just a small little way that you can remind other people who you are and how to contact you. Not to mention, this industry is a mix of young and old folks. So, chances are, you will meet someone who will want to see a card - always be prepared and hand those cards out like candy!
You are a real estate professional! So, how do you think it looks when you don't have digital real estate? Websites and social media let people find you on their own time. Plus, you can go deep with your website and social to mine for new leads, rank in local search, and connect with your existing SoI.
Speaking of SoI, you need to have a CRM. CRM stands for Client Relationship Management System. That's where you collect information from people you meet both professionally and informally. A lot of people don't know they walk around with a CRM in their pocket. That's right, the contacts on your phone is a CRM. But, as a real estate agent, you want to enhance it a bit and make it more professional.
Finding the right brokerage is also vital to your success. As a new agent, you want to find a brokerage that will lift you up and support you throughout your career. Always always always look for a brokerage that offers training so you can take classes and always improve yourself.
Finally, make sure you join the local and national boards. When you do that, you get the credibility associated with REALTORS® (yes, a REALTOR® is different from a real estate agent) and you also get access to the forms, documents, contracts, local news, info, and national updates in the industry. These boards are a necessity for any agent.

Great video and informative for someone like me, 2-3 months away from taking my state exam.
Quick question tho, I completed a course (real estate practice) back in 2019 and then had to stop. I re started again by purchasing the courses separately, and now that I have completed the 2 other courses ( principles and finance) it says I am ready to take the state exam.
So my question is: is my certificate of completion of real estate principles course from 2019 valid in California along with my 2 certificates I just completed in 2022?

Great question. I would recommend you call the DRE just to get their final say on whether or not those certificates are still valid just to be safe!
I got my Real Estate license back in September. I was so excited at first! I'm NOT active, I haven't started yet I don't know what's going on! Any advices? I'm in Long Beach, CA. 👍

You can join the brokerage first and then make your website. If your website is up before you join the brokerage, then anyone who comes to your website won't be able to work with you since you need to be signed at a brokerage first. Hope this helps!
