[SPOILERS] With our politicians so consumed in tearing each other apart, they have lost the big picture. Einstein walked away probably believing his legacy was the inevitable destruction of mankind. His greatest achievement and his contributions to science that allowed us to understand the nature of the universe would be used by mankind to kill itself. Strauss was so consumed with himself that he believed Einstein and Oppenheimer were talking about him.

One of my favorite scenes from the movie. For a story that is based on history and shouldn't have any twists, that was it for me. It shifted the audiences perspective just a little. You see that Stauss is an unreliable narrator, evident by the difference in his reaction when Oppie embarrassed him. According to him, he simply laughed off Oppie's comments while Oppenheimer sees Strauss' straight face full of contained anger. Not only is Stauss lying to Oppie, but the audience as well.

Nolan _is_ an outstanding writer, but to be fair, that is not as hard as it sounds. If you want something to be anticipated, tease it, reveal it late, have your characters refer to it. The movie does that for the bomb, but even more so for the conversation. Voila.

The scene where they were deciding where to drop the bomb and the secretary of war just says "Don't bomb Kyoto because its culturally significant.. and because my wife and I had our honeymoon there." was insane. The fact that the fate of thousands of lives were decided by the minor, insignificant, offhand remark of someone on the opposite side of the world. And the fact that thats still how things are to this day. This movie was fucking fantastic.

It was the icing in the cake. Everything was perfect. Teller putting the zinc cream over his face, knowing the UV damage. That one guy leaving the launch station just before the countdown hits zero because he so desperately wants to see the bomb go off with his own eyes. The way Oppenheimer was breathing heavily when it finally went off. The sheer silence. That was the most silence I had heard from a gathering of humans that size. Unbelievable film. I’ve watched it twice already. First time I played this album on my way home and teared up… I can’t explain why. Been listening to this along with Hans Zimmer and Explosions in the sky during my runs this past week. I listened to “Rise” and “Time” on the last mile of 100 mile races I run in. Something about the connection between the music, cast, story, and cinematography with Nolan just gives me goosebumps every time.

    What a film.
Whoever edited Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning pt. 1 needs to watch Oppenheimer and learn about montage and rhythm.
How to make conversations actually entertaining. The pace was so great. MIDR's shots were way too long and boring, just blank stares and actors feeling like they're trying to remember their voice lines.
Oppenheimer was a great great Nolan and Göransson's score made the experience amazing.
Also hat down to the sound designers of the film, not just music. The sound was amazing and really underlined storytelling.
This is how cinema is done. Thank you for this Chris!
