Love Vanessa my fav, the braids would have been better if they were actually braids this looks like a rachel dolezal wig, but you can tell she had a good time making this video.
I loved when Vanessa made music like this. It wasn't long after this that the train went off the track for her music career. @ncatina She thought that the album version was outdated when this video was shot in early 1995. This remix was probably recorded in late 1994/January 1995, as the album version is from 1993. She started making this album in early/mid-1993 and finished it in October 1994. I like the 1993 version on the album.
stunning video, stunning song, stunning woman! Vanessa is one of my favorite chicks from the 90s, such a great singer and a wonderful actress, such a pleasure to watch her on the screen, she's so vivid and looks so organically.
While this version is fine, I actually prefer the original mix on her "The Sweetest Days" CD. This remix always reminded me a little too much of Brandy's song "Baby" which was out around the same time. All things considered, Vanessa could sing the phone book and it would sound great!
I've heard this song way back and couldn't find the name of it until a couple days ago using Sound Hound. She's a wonderful singer and has a lot of talent.
Vanessa tried 2 new things that did not flatter her: Braids and dancing! The video was more of a caricature of the r/b women of the 90s, and it was not her best work. That said: She has had more highs than lows with television, movies, and music, so Take That Miss America pageant!!
@jsull81079 After that was a jazzy covers album and The Real Thing was a jazz album. So I feel like she covered it pretty nicely. There's not a Vanessa Williams album that I haven't enjoyed, no matter what genre. Perhaps she feels she matured, in that she can't follow what others want her to do but she has to find a niche for herself that works well for her. Now I wouldn't be opposed to another Comfort Zone in theory but I really am not sure today's sounds in r&b/dance/pop would really suit her.

@jsull81079 Hmm...well this album was a bit different than Comfort Zone itself. Her first 3 albums were that fusion of dance, pop, r&b, and jazz to varying degrees. But I think this album had a more Jazz slant and Comfort Zone was more of a mixed bag, both r&b but different focuses. I think you're referring to Next which was a very good album but mostly r&b/pop. I think what she did on each album was indicative of the times.
Love her , love her music and career. Legendary! This video reminds me of Brandy though (the beat , the dark braids lol.) cute though! xo I would've given her blonde braids or honey blonde or brown.
