I think the smaller PPK version (not /S) is actually a bit more comfortable to shoot because the grips wrap fully around the backstrap, rather than being panels like on the PPK/S. Also, the PPK is smaller and lighter...It's the original design, I can pocket carry mine. I'm not sure why the /S is still the more popular of the two, it only exists in the first place to get around importation law.

Don't move the trigger guard to one side to perch it in order to field strip it. Instead, simply put a spent shell casing into the pulled trigger guard. This way the bottom of the frame doesn't get a nick in it unnecessarily.

You can also slide a plastic gift card or credit card under the trigger guard when pulled to keep it out and definitely not leave a mark.

The K stands for Kriminal. Basicsally it was a model for plain clothes detectives. Now the S is for sport, making it available for import to the US with a longer grip.

I still have my "Made In W. Germany" 1976 blue steel 380 PPK/S which I purchased new then for about $227.00. Used it for off-duty LE carry & occasionally as a backup. Always hated that critical first DA pull which I believe was/is over 10 lbs. In retirement, it gets a range trip once in a while & functions flawlessly.......Kudos for a very thorough & accurate video.

PPK/S .380 ACP (Kurs short for 9mm) with a protective beaver tang. Its accuracy comes due to the fixed frame and low recoil. Glock 42 has less recoil and it's lighter but again, PPK has been around for over 90 years so it is a wonderful gun for concealed carry.

My experience with a Walther PPK was owning an Interarms production in the mid '80's. The following was my experience within 800 rounds over less than 3 years of use:
    Cracked internal slide stop
Hammer pin splitting completely in half while firing, rendering the gun useless
Metal fraying on the extractor pin. I don't know if I simply got a very beautifully finished lemon, but I did the reverse of Bond and traded it in for a Beretta model 85, which has been serving me faithfully for more than 30 years.

I recently bought a Ruger LCP .380 for $206 but I haven't shot it yet. I'm interested in how it handles. I also bought an extended mag so I can get another finger around the grip. The LCP looks to be styled after the Walther. It fits in my front pant pockets very easily, love it.

I was waiting for you to comment on the shooting characteristics, haha. I was somewhat disappointed with how nasty it can be in hand.

It's amazing that after all these years people still us double action to start off at the range, when all they have to do is cock the pistol at that point and fire single action.
Double action is for emergency shots. The gun does have a nasty rear part that is easily tamed by Hogue Beavertail grips that eliminate bite and recoil cuts.

I bought my ppk in 1985 for my first gun i loved james bond and it was made by interarms licenced by walther it was a blued model and i payed 240$ for it brand new i got 2 boxes of 380 and i have very long thin hands i had been using my dads 357 magnum so the snap of the ppk really didn't bother me but those days polymer guns where not well acceted by the gun community i had a carry permit and the only ammo recommend for defence where hollow point silver tips it seemed light to me but compared to polymer frames i can deffinatly see what people are saying.

I enjoy my PPKS with zero hand fatigue after shooting 50-100 rounds at the range. Possibly my non-hamhock hands, with sausage fingers, allows me a much better grip. 😮

I have small skinny hands and have had some recoil cuts from firing this pistol. Mine is from 2021, I have about 300 rounds through it but it's been dealing with an ejection/feeding system issue. So I'm trying to find a gunsmith to repair it or I may sell it. I wish I had a better experience with this particular gun but it's not been great. Which sucks since I've been a fan of Bond since I was a kid. Anyway, I'm hoping that when I build my version of a Resident Evil Samurai Edge, it'll be a lot more enjoyable.

try more powerful rounds. I had a lot of ejection issues...end up finding out that the bullets did not develop enough power to pull the slide all the way back.

As most everyone else, I wanted a Bond's gun myself... owned a few over the years too but ended getting rid of them every time, because they all did bite my hand HARD! And to be frank about it, I think they are over hyped?
My "current" Bond-like/suit/tux pocket carry gun is a Glock 42 and I love it. Same footprint, half the weight, accurate and easy to shoot well, plus it has the same manual of arms as my primary EDC. Voila! But that's just me... Great vid! :>0

😑 James Bond never used a stainless PPK. In Goldeneye 007 (N64), there was a simple blued PPK, a suppressed (silenced) PPK, a Gold PPK, and a Silver PPK. Gold and silver were unlockable cheats. The gold is a 1 shot kill, like the Golden Gun, but it has a 7 round magazine and not single shot. The Silver behaved power-wise like a Cougar Magnum. It could penetrate doors.
To be entirely correct, the game called it a PP7 since PPK is trademarked.
