  • Alana Reid of Hydel High School makes history by breaking the sub-11 barrier and setting a new Jamaican junior and Champs Class 1 girls' 100m record with an incredible time of 10.92 seconds. This remarkable performance surpasses Veronica Campbell-Brown's previous Class 1 record of 11.13 seconds and Tina Clayton's former junior record of 10.95 seconds.

    • @MachelN25
      @MachelN25 Рік тому +6

      Just to say, this expectation that our young people should have camera and public speaking skills (supposedly poised, fluent and finding the right words!) on cue when they are not taught them is patently unfair. As for 'battling' with English, Jamaica is a bilingual society. It means expectations for inexperienced, young people who spend most of their days in Jamaican audio to just miraculously master English speaking skills - and in public and on camera, at that - are completely unreasonable! It's attitudes like those and comments (and likes!) like this which cause them to become intimidated. Who knows how these things affect their overall confidence? We really need to rest these colonial attitudes, as if speaking English is any sign of advancement.
      Lef di yuut dem mek dem straiv, man! Mek uo kan taak Inglish taak Inglish an uo kaan taak Jamiekan taak Jamiekan! Lou di yuut dem!
