We’re starting off 2024, but we have a few RV Modifications to make first!
We’ve always struggled with the inability to open our tailgate while hitched up to our camper. This time, research has lead me to a product called Jack-E-Up. Jack-E-Up allows for the complete removal of the trailer Jack while hitched to the truck.
We’re going to install this, show how it works, and review it.
This install should be easy, but due to lack of instructions, it become difficult and dangerous really quick. Be sure to watch the electrical portion of this video for full details. Make sure the positive wire on the trailer side becomes the female connection.
All in all, a good product, just a few small critiques, and easy to make right.

I tackled the tailgate issue myself with my Ram 2500. My solution was getting a slightly longer hitch shank and just transferred my hitch head to that. Bingo !

I’ve contemplated that solution several times as well. That one might be easier in the long term. I’m still not sure why this is even a problem we have to deal with, you’d think by now it would all just work together.

This is also a good theft deterrent for those who park their rigs outside. Drop the front jacks and store the jack in the front compartment out of the weather.

Think I should clarify. It would be more difficult to steal the rv with the jack removed.

I wouldn’t recommend using the front jacks to completely support your trailer. I’d block up the frame somehow if this was my goal.

It looks like your tailgate almost cleared the electric jack originally, It won’t clear now that the jack motor is higher without removing it?

It was close before, and even opened under certain conditions. It’s no better now though, and I wouldn’t trust driving down the road with the jack installed in the Jack-E-Up. It’s not secured in any way.

Sorry to see you you cage in your dogs in the back! So sad!

Yes, having them in a safe secure place is so sad. I’d much rather have them in the cab; so they could distract me, cause an accident, and become a 60lb projectile in that accident; all after me spending hours cleaning dog hair and slobber from the cab of my truck.
