I first heard, and fell in love with, this symphony about 60 years ago. In all that time, I don't remember ever hearing it played as well as this. It was like hearing it for the very first time, such was the beauty of the playing. This conďuctor and orchestra form a dream team, and for me, this is now the gold standard performance of the "New World" . Thanks to everyone involved with this wonderful video, and with posting it here on UA-cam for everyone to enjoy.

Maestra Hanna Chang seems to make a best choice being invited to Trondheim Symfoniorkester′s main conductor which is so humble and simple. When the genius Hanna Chang conducts this Dvorak's almost banal piece, it is enormous. A friend of mine once described it as, ``Like a blowback toy that unfolds and expands when you blow on it, with just the slightest blow a rocky mountain starts to move.'' If instrumentalists become conductors, it's because they can't play their instrument anymore. In her case, as I wrote before, she has something that can't be expressed with her cello, and I can understand very well that she wants to conduct an orchestra. That point is very different from Ashkenage or Eschenbach. Not only is she the first great female conductor of all time, but she will be the greatest conductor of the 21st century.

Ottima interpretazione: ogni strumento è ben evidenziato e amalgamato con il tutti. Le riprese a volte non valorizzano gli strumenti e la direttrice.
