Topic 12: Modes of Operation
● For each satellite and site combination, we define one or more modes of operation; each mode of
operation is a full description on how to configure the system automatically and just in time
● The MOOs consist of modem config files, overrides, hardware stack (RF chain), header translations
required, transmit/receive or both, data backhaul strategy, if we’re storing to S3, band details
(modulation scheme, frequency, bandwidth, etc.)
● We define the modes of operation when we’re getting to know the client - our roadmap for making
sure every site supports their modes and building the AIB so we can test all of their modes, creates and
becomes test plan
● Client perspective: We build and test that meets client requirements and we deliver a working system
