    Korean subtitle support was very helpful. Thank you so much and I decided to buy this product after watching this video. Let's pray for the product to come safely. Thank you for the video!

    I have the same. Replace the tubing and it will work better. The supplier tubes are of a low quality. I went to my local aquarium/ fish shop. For better water flow use the little pump handle to create pressure in the pump systems for teh pump itself to pump correctly. Thanks for the video.

      @thehobbyist_finds  Рік тому +2

      Yup. I also replaced the tubes after about 3 months though I didn’t really find any issue with it, just that after a while they sometimes bend flat and prevent the water from fully flowing.

    Thank you for the video, The Hobbyist. Its been more than 9 months of usage. Just wanted to check if it's running smoooooth or if you've run into any issues. I am thinking of buying this.

      Still working fine as day 1! Best decision I’ve ever made. No rattling, and very quiet. I have to do maintenance every 3 weeks then and my cichlids and blood parrots are so much bigger now which means more bio load. I only changed the replaceable sponge filter inside once to a better quality and now I only do maintenance every 5 weeks. All parts are still intact.

    I would put the output on the other end and intake in the opposite., for small water flow/movement

      Thanks. I would do it as well, but due to space constraints (I have a glass door to another room on the other end), decided to put both hose on the same side…or I’ll need a longer hose from the other end which is more visually distracting/clutter.

    hows it doing now? noise, leaks, any deterioration in flow rate or impellar damage?

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  11 місяців тому

      So far, everything works fine. I haven’t changed any parts, UV light and impeller are still the original ones that came with the box. Flow rate is good. Every time I clean it which would be once a month or every 3 weeks, I just make sure that I spray the impeller with a bit of pressurized water to remove any gunk that may be stuck in there- same with the UV light, I haven’t removed the cover that protects it but just spray some water in to make sure it’s clean. I think if cleaned in a regular basis at a reasonable length of time (not too often/too long), helps in preventing damage. I’ll upload a short video of the canister status this weekend.

    Hi, I bought the same recently but not sure how do i layer the media as it is more than week and the water is still cloudyI put mechnical at the bottom and the top 2 trays as bio media. Am i doing it righ? Please suggest.

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  22 дні тому

      @@MounikaNethikunta-s5c for my first layer, I used thick and very fine sponge that filled out the whole bottom layer. I initially only used filter sponge (the white cloth type) but it wasn’t enough. I got the harder but flexible one and cut it to the shape of the bottom layer (usually sold in black or grey color) and it was as thick as the bottom container so there was no other space. The top are mixed with bio media (I also had a bag of charcoal there). Once I changed the type of sponge, the water was better. Hope this helps.

    i have 30galon / 110 liter
    what should I buy?
    please sugest

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  Місяць тому

      @SunDGod personally, I would go for the biggest filter canister I could buy because there is no such thing as over-filtration in aquarium, it would help to keep smaller tanks cleaner but if I picked a ‘just right’ filter for my aquarium, it would work but it’s not just the size or water capacity I have to consider but also what types of fish I have and how many they are. I had 3 blood parrot cichlids and their bioload is heavy. They eat and poop 💩 a lot 😅 that’s why my other filters didn’t work even if it was made for my tank’s water capacity so this one really helped.
      From the specs sheet I found online, the 1200 is recommended for 36-48 inches and the 1500 model is for 48-60 inch aquariums.

    Where is the on/off switch for the filter ???? I got the 1500 with uv.

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  8 місяців тому

      There’s no on/off switch. It works automatically when you plug it in the electrical outlet. It’s for this reason why I use an extension cord with its own switch, that way, after cleaning it and setting it back up, I just turn the switch of the cord on and it will work.

    Feel that your fish really can hurt them self or get killed if they get stuck to the intake as you don´t have the intake basket on...

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  8 місяців тому

      Thanks for the concern. It’s there at the end of the intake tube. This was posted about 2 years ago. All my fish now are bigger than 4 inches, they’re all fine :) - see the pinned update link. Wouldn’t do anything that would hurt my babies.

    What does those two buttons do on the canister?

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  Рік тому +1

      There’s only one button on the canister. The one that turns on and off the UV filter/sterilizer light. The orange one near it that’s slightly bigger is the manual pump you pull and then push to help the filter in starting up.

    • @rayr6454

      @@thehobbyist_finds thank you so much for the reply. Where is the on and off button then?

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  Рік тому +1

      There is no on/off button. It will slowly start to pump the water in when plugged. I use a power hub with separate switch so when I’m done cleaning and putting everything back together, I just switch it on from there.

    Whats ur tank size for sf850 filter

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  3 місяці тому +1

      My tank size is 30x16x18 inches and holds 142 liters. This model is for 24-30 inch size aquarium. There are bigger sizes (1000-2200L/H) for bigger tanks.

    What to do if fish stuck in filter

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  Рік тому +1

      There’s a cap with tiny grills/holes that would prevent fish from being sucked in. If you have smaller fish, you can add a sponge to this so it’s safe for any size of fish in your tank. The suction is quite powerful. There was a time I was cleaning the inlet tubes and didn’t realize the cap was loose and it fell- my juvenile angel fish went close and its head was stuck in the tube. I panicked and turned the machine off and wiggled the tube and it went free. 😅😅😅
      I’m still using the same filter now, loving it, no issues. Btw, the angelfish is fine and still alive and bigger.
      If little fish are stuck, turn off the machine immediately and open the filter tank if you see them going inside the long hose, see if you still can get them from there.

    Mine has an extremely annoying rattle. How can I quiet it down?

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  2 роки тому +2

      Hi. For me it helps to fill the canister with water about 3/4 and make sure that the sponge below has absorbed enough water that there are no bubbles trapped inside. I lightly shake the canister, tap the corners and see if there are still bubbles coming up and I continue until I don’t see any bubbles anymore before sealing it shut. It also helps in starting the pump more quickly.

    • @thehobbyist_finds
      @thehobbyist_finds  2 роки тому +2

      If it’s not the bubbles, check the impeller, sometimes gunk is stuck or pebbles or it’s simply not well aligned or properly pushed down.
