I’m glad you guys dug the J&B and I knew ya’s would. It over performs for it’s price point. I’ve bought many of a glass for aficionados and they were all pleasantly surprised and elated. When drinking Scotch, we would all agree that drinking it neat is the way to go, but J&B makes a superb light summer drink over ice and club soda. You get niced up but not hammered since you’re also having water. Slaintè!
Thanks so much, Knocko! We really really enjoyed it and you’re totally right that it drinks like a scotch well above $20! We were both pleasantly surprised by this one! Slainte!
I did end up doing a comparison and, spoiler alert, the 1980's was better! You can check out the video here: ua-cam.com/video/4CL5lPHe0us/v-deo.htmlsi=GXLXfbu4SWWUI7P2
I like the scotches Johnny Walker taste wise but it is priced well above what it is worth, especially Blue Label. J&B, Cutty Sark, quite a number of other old school blends are still cheap and give you a solid whisky for what you spent. Branding and marketing have driven many a good whisky to prices that aren't justified by what's in the bottle- the whole Maccallen line for instance- Johnny Walker is getting there with its line.
Compass Box is one of my favorite blended scotch brands! They can get a little pricey though, but I really enjoy their transparency and the whisky is delicious. I agree that Macallan is overhyped and that drives up the price.
You guys should go grab a new J&B and do side by side she if much has changed... Haha need to edit... Just after I post I hear y'all say the same thing..haha
This was super fun to watch!
It was super fun to taste too! Glad you enjoyed it!

YES! Please make a comparison between the old J&B and the modern expression. I'm one of those who likes J&B on the rocks.
