Madan Ji was ideal composer for all composers,
His songs were landmark and inspiration to all, even Pancham Da admired him most, in Sur Singar competition entry, Pancham Da's composition " Ghar aaja ghir aaye badra samwariya" from film Chchote Nawab was almost final for award but somehow Madan Ji's composition won the award,
but Pancham Da's admiration for Madan Ji kept on increasing...
Madan Ji was extremely good singer as well, he made easier for the playback singers like Lata Ji, Rafi Saheb, Manna Da, Asha Ji, by singing the songs during rehearsal and sittings
for recordings.
The high class compositions are hallmarks of Madan Ji's creativity, all of his songs are melodious, meaningful and excellent without exception...

Thank you Jatin Ji for this very interesting information. I must say until now I thought the song 'zaroorat hai' was either composed by Kishore Kumar himself or RD, I could have never imagined that it was a gem from Madan Ji...I'm still puzzled, and this is probably due to stereotyping Madan Ji as classical/Gazal composer. Wow...what a beautiful song and a tailor made song for kishore Kumar.

He was king of melodies. I wonder how his musical mind must be working creating musical gems woven by stitching single pieces of instruments and notes. Its has to be immortal.

Madan Mohan died of a broken heart in 1975 at mere 51. He composed Tere Liye sometimes in 1960s. A chain smoker and a heavy drinker, he would cook excellent Bhindi Mutton at home. An uncompromising composer.

very unusual that Jatin talks about Madan and Kishore's combination , mostly it madan mohan and Lata didi's combination. I always used to think Madanjee mostly composed very slow gazals. Madan mohan used to listen many western songs from 30s and made lot of experiments, he is like the one whose songs sound too melodic but too difficult to sing, Thanks Jatinjee for talking about Madam Mohan and Kishore Kumar, on the same lines Madanjee composed bol bol bol in Baap Bete (1959) which was sung by Rafijee.

Jatinji, I am a huge fan of your music. The music composed by you and Lalitji are evergreen and I am pretty sure that the kind of work you both have done, is going to remain unparalleled forever. I regularly watch your channel and would like to request you to make a video on one very interesting aspect of your music. I have noticed that you have used tabla (particularly the right drum) very beautifully as the side rhythm along with the western percussion instruments in your songs. For example "Mujhe Raat Din" from Sangharsh, "Tere Pyar Ne Sanam" from Vastaav etc. Can you please share some information on this aspect and other music arrangements which you used to follow?

Madan mohan was original composer he was versatile and he can compose music for any subjects and become successful like war film haqqeeqt suspense film woh kaun thi and mera saya Muslim social like jahan ara family films like anpad,pooja ke phool legendary love stories heer ranjha and Laila majnu classic films like mausam ,dastak and comedy films like bawarchi and manmauji he was composer who survived sheer on his talent irrespective of any support from super star and big banners film not like other composers who composed for particular super stars like s d burman for dev Anand naushad like dilipkumar and s,j for rajkapoor and r d burman for rajesh Khanna only for romantic films only

Filmfare Awards(and other awards as well) have been crooked institution since inception. Awards were given to few chosen ones based on connections nepotism castes & corruptions . Madan Mohan never got any awards but we all know he was better than many others.This killed Madan Mohan--he had special faculty for music even when he was 3 years old. Naushad on Live radio interview stated that he would trade all his work for one composition of Madan Mohan(Aap Ki Nazron ne Samjha Pyar ke kabil mujhe)--that tells you the quality of Mohan's work.
He died young at 50 due to no recognition and heavy drinking. His friend Raja Mehndi Ali Khana also died of same reason. India does not recognize talent but promotes and rewards people like Batra and Saif Ali Khan. Shameless country that kills talent and genius.
