To try and save everyone some grief and pain, when you can’t lock the seat in place, look underneath for a small button that you’ll need to push in to get the seat to lock into place.
I bought this to upgrade from a $75 Staples special. It's slightly better, but my back is still hurting like crazy. I cannot recommend this chair. Lumbar support sounds great, but not so effective in practice. The chair back tilts, but only has 2 positions: straight up, or about 45 degree angle. The sliding armrests don't lock, they just have ratchets, so they slide out of place easily. It's too late to return, although the caveat below makes me wonder if I could have reboxed anyway.
Be absolutely certain you want this chair. If you need to return it, taking it apart without damaging the piston is next to impossible. You will need a rubber mallet and a pipe wrench. Next comes fitting it all inside the box. The lumbar support poked into my back so it was a no go for me. I
How do I slide the base/seat of the chair in without making it slide back out when I lean backwards? I've assembled the chair but not getting it to function properly.
Thanks for the video. I just received the chair and I cannot get the seat to go all the way back. I saw that you pushed yours against the wall to get it to go all the way back during assembly. How hard did you have to push it? I don't want to break mine. There seems to be some obstruction.
I doubt you'd break it. If you had someone who could help you one person could brace it against a wall and another person could push it in. Check the instructions for levers that might be locking the seat as well.
You're asking a brilliant question the stupid instructions aren't very clear about this one point which is there is a button on the right side of the chair under the arm that you have to press while you push the seat backwards against the wall otherwise it won't go all the way back I had the same problem and this is the answer!
Thank you all for the seat-back won't go in information. It was driving me nuts (cursing was involved). To get a good look at the lever/button/thing you put the three fingers of your left hand in underneath the left-side of the cushion when facing the chair (right side if you were sitting on it), place the chair gently on its back (preferably on carpet) and you'll see a rectangle-ish shape that is approximately 2 inches by 1 inch and is only on 1 side of the chair. It's easy to spot from this vantage point. Insert a few fingers or your thumb and pull it outwards. From there you can push the seat fully in until it clicks or stand the chair back up and use the wall method now that you know where the mysterious thing is. Good luck!
@@tom2657 You are a beautiful human. A big actual WTF to branch for not making this clear in the instructions. May god (or whatever you believe or don't belive in) bless you with a long life -- but jokes asides wow thank you so much hahaha
Hey thank for the video and I am thinking to buy this but I want to know how you feel about it after 2 months of your usage, do you think it's worth it considering the build quality and the comfort, if you can also add some context about the base cushion hardness that would really help me make my mind to buy this chair.
Build quality is legit. I was impressed by the parts, it doesn't look cheap (even if most are plastic). Comfort (although it is subjective) is a bit off I think. I have not yet found someone (only 5-6 persons tried it) who found this chair really comfortable. In my case (I'm tall), the lumbar support simply doesn't work as it should, it's more an annoyance. I contacted them and replaced the foam lumbar support for a softer one but it's still not great. If possible, I would recommend you to try the chair before purchase. Their customer support is really great tho.
I have the branch chair. I agree the lumbar support is off . I’m 5”9’ and it feels like it’s not high enough (i have it at tallest setting). This is my second time buying a high end chair without trying it first I’ll def go in person to try it next time. Also when I watched the ergonomic chair video before purchasing it, it shows two push buttons under the arms to allow you to slide arms forward. Mine didn’t come with those buttons so when I get up out of chair applying body weight ever so slighting on the arms they slide forward. I have also realized through Searching through trouble shooting videos (only one side of my branch standing desk will rise) these chairs and desk appear to be all the “same” but with different brand companies selling them… maybe a very slight, small change in the buttons on the desk- but for the most part the same.which makes me wonder if I got sucked into the pretty minimalist “branding” on their website. I see old school small mom and pop furniture store salesman on UA-cam selling abd explaining the exact same chair but of course with their personal name . 😂
It's my first "expensive" desk chair, and I find it comfortable, but I feel like my body is still adjusting to it. As I mentioned, I still needed a back cushion to get support, as I felt the seat was too deep, even when set back all the way. My desk is also not ideal which isn't the chair's fault, but I feel once I fix the desk it'll be better. If you have the luxury of testing out chairs in person ahead of time, I would still recommend that. I'm too busy to try out multiple shipped chairs and return them if I didn't like them.
I liked the chair. I bought one, then another (with kids schooling from home and my working from home). Both ended up having an issue that I came up with a solution for. I'll post a video about it sometime. just haven't gotten around to it.
@@1reospeed I look forward to seeing it! There are a few things I'm still adjusting to. I might be finding the seat cushion a little too firm. Not sure yet.
really sorry about that, but the point of the video wasn't to give step-by-step instructions on how to assemble the chair, which took some time but wasn't terribly difficult. Please use the chair's official instructions as the guide. The video was merely meant to give potential buyers an idea of the experience of unboxing and assembling the chair.
Keep the box because you are going to find it terribly uncomfortable if you are a large person and have to return it .... then when you have to take this piece of crap apart it will take an hour and you will end up banging the crap out of it .... should not be this hard ...
this video is a year old and I'm here to say they are still sending it without an instruction manual, and now I'm here lol
How the heck did you get the seat to click into place. I've been pushing on this thing for 30 minutes.
Did you ever figure this out? I still can’t keep the seat from sliding

Wow I almost sent mine back because it didn't say this anywhere in the instructions! Thank you
I used a screwdriver to push down that button and that’s the only way I got to click

How much do I need to push for the wheels to go in?

I cannot get the arm rest to slide in. Any suggestions to make this easy??
I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?
Just ordered it and got a coupon using your link. Thanks!
Is it good quality and comfortable seriously thinking about buying this chair ?

How comfortable? I ordered just got an expensive Steelcase Leap v2 and it’s not that comfortable. Debating sending back. This chair is half the price.
You made it look easy. It took me twice as long. Maybe it was me. Branch should ship the chair fully assembled and save some grief.
Hey! I plan to build one soon just wondering if you had any other tools besides what came in the box? Screw drivers etc?
I cannot get the armrest bolts to screw in, Branch has terrible instructions.
Is the seat fabric durable?
Yeah it has formaldehyde and DEHP…probably pretty durable with those chemicals! 😮
is the armrest (cushion) padded or just (hard) plastic, i can't tell by looking at pics and videos?
It’s not padded. Thick plastic with the slightest give.

Why on earth shoot key parts of the video from his backside?
What is important is what his hands are doing, and that is completely hidden.
