    • @SergeGolikov
      @SergeGolikov 3 роки тому

      Yes, space in the anamorphic aspect ratio is the essence!
      All that fixation about oval background bokeh and blue horizontal flairs, is a
      product of the "Star Bores" generation, weaned on CGI and SFX.
      Imagine classical Cinemascope Westerns and true narrative films being fixated by those artifacts! They would have been considered as the aberrations which they are, and would have been painstakingly eliminated!

    I tried the 50mm on a Sony FX9. On 6k Full Frame, there's vignetting, but with 5k scan mode, there is surprisingly very little vignetting. Most noticeable when stopped all the way down. Wide open, it's hardly noticeable and very usable.

    Apart from lens flare and bokeh difference, how would you say this lens compares to Sigma 18-35 F1.8? If you stuck letterbox black bars over both Sigma 18-35 F1.8 footage and Sirui 24mm footage wouldn’t it look very similar, apart from lens flares & bokeh? The Sirui 24mm doesn’t look very anamorphic in terms of lens distortion.

      I have the same curious question. It could be useful for M43 to have a real focal length of 23mm (with a speedbooster of 0.71) (24x2x0.71 / 1.5) and a Fstops of 2. You could take the Canon mount version and add a Viltrox EF-M2. I also believe that the bayonet connection can be replaced as for the older brother, the 35mm ...

    • @claudiopaolucciphoto
      @claudiopaolucciphoto 3 роки тому +1

      I've made a mistake... the 24mm is a real APSC focal length, not referred to a full-frame focal length... the right calculation for an M43 body with a speed booster of 0.71 is 24x2x0.71=34mm

    Sorry but after working with Anamorphics these one are not even close. To have a great effect of anamorphic it needs to be 2X or at least 1.8X .
    These feels like normal lenses.
    Also,85mm 2X anamorphic is a must,even if they produce an 85mm if it's 1.33X then makes no sense for me.
    Also huge drawback is that these are mirrorless lenses,not EF mount which is the majority of cinema cameras so... These are made for amateur use primarily using small mirrorless cameras ( the BMPCC 4K is amazing camera no doubt)

    • @captureinsidethesound
      @captureinsidethesound Рік тому

      Its not a drawback just because its not an EF mount and isn't the most used mount. The mount has nothing to do with the quality of the glass. Also, 1.33 squeeze is a happy medium between a standard lens and the common 2X anamorphic lens so its "different" and not just another copy-cat "anamorphic standard". 1.33 allows you to have a close subject will keeping the FOV just wide enough to have anamorphic character. Personally, i think 2X is too much and overused.

    The difference between the 18mm and the suriu is so subtle I do not really see the point in investing in them if you already have good glass.
    Especially on the pocket 4k where you shoot wide screen resolution in camera.
    The flares are beautiful but esthetically i’d only use that in a scifi project. For normal projects i’d rather something more organic like orange flares.

      the framing doesnt change but you missed the whole point of anamorphic lenses. The vertical stretch which produces oval bokeh and anamorphic lens flares which you won't get with any other lens.

      @@felizeamor4028 You barely get oval bokeh on 1.33.
      The 24 does impress much more with flaring, the 35 and 50 are unfortunately rather subtle.
      My point is the thing people like about anamorphic just isn’t prominent enough which leaves the aspect ratio as the remaining benefit.
      The value in gear is not what we as film makers are able to distinguish but rather the client.

    So the 24mm on a aps-c sensor is about 36mm equiv FF. So the the FF equivalent of this 24mm lens on a aps-c sensor would be 27mm? Am I right?
    And in Micro-Loser-Thirds it would be 36mm equiv right?
    Btw. Nice shots of the ladies in the city :)
    Love the colours :)

      Thanks! The lens is 24mm with 1.33 horizontal stretch so its actually 18mm equivalent on a regular spherical. This doesn’t change regardless of what camera you are using. So if you want to see how wide the final shot will look on your camera with the crop factor then just put a regular 18mm lens on your camera.

      @@TomAntos Hi Tom, but if you were to interpret this at m43 mount for Full Frame, it would be 36mm full frame equivalent, is that correct? Thank you.

      @@therenderer4726 correct.
      24mm x 1.33 = 18mm equivalent width
      18mm x 2 crop factor = 36mm equivalent width

      @@deanisplemoni Hi Dean, thank you! Just to make it clearer, when calculating 24mm @ 1.33 stretch to get 18mm, you divide it. eg. 24mm divided by 1.33 = 18.045 = rounded to 18mm.
      The Sirui 35mm Anamorphic Lens would be 35mm / 1.33 = 26.315 X 2(Crop factor) = 52.63 = rounded off to 53mm for Full Frame equivalent.
