Mels Shield should be changed so that you pre-choose the direction of the projectile, so like when you press W/E the direction you pressed in will be where the projectiles are reflected to. Kinda like a deflect more than anything. I'd love that for outplays and such
That's actually way way WAY better than the original reflect. The reflect looks too lazy and biased. Heck, not even in Arcane did the bullet go back as a reflect, it went full geometry in circle and back.

A reflected projectile would automatically reflect in that direction. Might be weird to hit something and reflect it 180 degrees, and I think targeted projectiles will always return to sender (unless they direct to another target nearest the initial direction), but both of those would be the hurdles to climb over and I don't think Riot's gonna do it.

Grain of salt; Based on the animation shown the duration of said reflection is quick, and I'm guessing it's only 1 spell/projectile at a time. You have to be precise when to use it, i.e. using earlier than the said spell/projectile negates its purpose. Or It could be like Anti-Mage, where there's a fixed duration and only takes effect when it's triggered, else goes to cd when nothing happens. There's 2 possibilities: (1) Has a fix duration, and in that whole duration she can reflect every single spell/projectile, but has reasonable longer cd; (2) Can only reflect 1 spell/projectile at a time, but has reasonable shorter cd at max level. (Similar to Anti Mage)

With Skill shot champs like Vel or Lux it's a bit balanced because you can still flash or dodge the spell, or your tanks can block it for you, but Point n click champs will be destroyed, specially the high burst ones like Leblanc, Veigar, TF and Annie, it'll be undodgeable
only way i could see mel work is if shes a support. She can block skill shots for her team and point and click spells have to be careful when targeting her. You cant make her a high priority target who punishes 50% of all champs for targeting her.
I atleast hope that the reflect ability is a self-cast and isn't like Morgana shield. You're not typically wanting to aim your abilities at a support in teamfights and so atleast Mel would have to be proactive with their positioning and simultaneously risk themselves getting caught.
The shield has gotta to be atleast 20sec cooldown maxed or that thing makes verdant and banshees with 60 and 40 respectively and it doesn't even reflect
At the very least in case Mel's reflect does in fact follow a point click logic rather than a direct trajectory reversal, they absolutely must change it into something akin to Irelia W allowing you to just redirect the skillshot rather than just send it back

How would nid spear work? Would it just count as having been cast by mel? Like if nid throws a spear at mel 500 units away and she reflects does it just count as going 500 units or does it now go to 1000 ubits traveled?

i dont think it would, technically E1 and E2 are projectiles but the thing actually dealing damage is cannot be stopped by a windwall so i guess it'd just go through as if nothing happens. unless the reflect counts for projectiles simply coming through the mel then its up to leauge's sphagetti

It's a toxic ability or it's yasuo windwall in strong etc guys come on you all didn't see the 0.5 second duration? It is the fact that it punishes glass cannon builds especially adcs and burst mages. The entire windwall mechanic is "bad" enough as you can invalidate skillshots entirely if prompted, but outside of "not doing damage" the aggressor is not punished. Take a full ap Veigar Q plus R, a charged up Syndra ult, a Cait headshot, a Draven Q auto or even something like a crit Aphelios auto attack. All these things are auto targeted and are thus unavoidably returned at full damage. It actively forces enemies to build defensively where they can normally just rely on good positioning. I am not against the idea outright, but i would like to see more skill expression in it, like preselecting where incoming projectiles are reflected to, like a delayed skillshot or a longer cast time. But something that can be cast instantly with the possibility to oneshot someone because he is ahead and strong just feels like its not healthy for the game.
Uh huh...meanwhile blitzcrank still slows himself. Also this is 50 times worse than any projectile blocking ability. The fact that it can reflect it BACK at you, and seems to have an unlimited number of projectiles that it can deflect in its period of time are kind of unfair. Either make it a one use ability, or make it more skill based, i think that 1 second duration is still probably too much.

im really hoping that not only is this low CD, but it gets implemented in tons of champs kits+items, as one of my biggest gripes with the game atm are artillery mages, these champs feel untouchable rn in skilled hands, even building against them you ultimately still can't anything about them, and their just gonna kill the rest of your team anyways, simply put, this is because mages aren't punished for missing skills in modern league as hard as they should be, mana costs are irrelevant after laning for most champs, CD's aren't overly long and to boot, you outrange like 95% of the roster...even assassins can't reliably deal with these mages anymore and it just in general feels awful to play against

I feel like people are massively overreacting about the reflect. It's a shorter Fiora parry on a champ that will most likely benefit way less from avoiding a root etc., where the effectiveness of the "parry" is entirely dependant on what is reflected. It's only better when reflecting something like a Renata Ult or other high value projectiles, and even then you're just shooting it back at Renata. The projectile can still be dodged.

this is exactly how it works for lolita (mlbb 2023 reflect mechanic) so if enemy support throws a stun she decides where to redirect it

i think it should be like 40secs cooldown HOWEVER if you do hit the reflection back to the champ like maphite Q hits him back, it should lower the cooldown somewhat
im really hoping that not only is this low CD, but it gets implemented in tons of champs kits+items, as one of my biggest gripes with the game atm are artillery mages, these champs feel untouchable rn in skilled hands, even building against them you ultimately still can't anything about them, and their just gonna kill the rest of your team anyways, simply put, this is because mages aren't punished for missing skills in modern league as hard as they should be, mana costs are irrelevant after laning for most champs, CD's aren't overly long and to boot, you outrange like 95% of the roster...even assassins can't reliably deal with these mages anymore and it just in general feels awful to play against

I feel like people are massively overreacting about the reflect. It's a shorter Fiora parry on a champ that will most likely benefit way less from avoiding a root etc., where the effectiveness of the "parry" is entirely dependant on what is reflected. It's only better when reflecting something like a Renata Ult or other high value projectiles, and even then you're just shooting it back at Renata. The projectile can still be dodged.
