  • I've used the Coffman right angle clamps for years, both the Original Right Clamp and the Mini Right Clamp. These clamps are invaluable when you need to attach flat material together at a perfect 90 degree angle. The cushioned foam pads on my clamps needed replacing after all these years so I thought I'd walk through the replacement pad process for you.

Hi John. Great job on the video. Only 2 comments I would add.
    1. After I made the original clamps and tried them out, I accidentally glued a part to the aluminum angle while using the very thin Super Glue. Fortunately I had left a little oil on the surface of the angle so the part came right off the angle with no problem. Since then, as part of the production process, I spray the angles with silicone spray and wipe off the excess. The silicone film acts as a mold release to prevent accidentally gluing the parts to the angles. I also use glues with a slightly higher viscosity.
    2. I have found that WD40 works as well as GooGone for removing glue residue and it is not as messy. It also washes off with soap and water.

      Thanks Randy,
Wiping on a thin coat of silicone is a great idea to prevent any excess glue sticking to the aluminum angle, I'll do that today! On the liquid cleaner, I have to say I was really curious about the Goof Off, and it is a heck of a potent cleaner. Good tip about the WD40 as an alternative!
Thanks for making such great tools for model makers, they really are incredibly useful. -John, Raildig

Thanks Mark! I have to admit, this being the first video for me in awhile and the using the new camera... I've got lots more rust to shake off! I had to get the first one done, and since I'm a big fan of these clamps, it all worked out. I didn't think the Goof Off was that aggressive, definitely not for every situation but it worked well here. I'll keep an eye on using it, and the glove eating going forward. Thanks!
