The Isetta was a small one door car, designed in Italy by a company called “Iso”. Isetta means ‘little Iso’. BMW bought the rights to this car from Iso and, using their existing motorbike technology, re-engineered the car so that it had, initially a 247cc 4 stroke air cooled engined, and then later a 297cc engine. Isetta’s were also built in the Uk in a factory in Brighton Sussex. Between 1957 and 1964 around 30,000 of these little cars were assembled in site.
when I lived in Germany in the early 60s... the few people who had cars drove things like this... so... I'm working on alternative fuel . and 2 strokes are prime candidates for an alcohol with hemp seed oil fuel... most people also did their own maintenance on their cars... two strokes are... very very low maintenance
I could swear I saw a few of those in the late 50's when I was just a boy in Cincinnati... We lived just across the bridge in Newport, Kentucky then crossing the bridge is where I saw them.
I remember seeing one of those when I was a kid, around 1966. It was at night in a parking lot. Three people got out of it. For years afterward I wondered if I was seeing an illusion or something... Anyway, I've also wondered if those cars would have an owners' manual in braille.
My Aunt who lived in Denver Colorado had one of those. She actually drove it with a friend to Tucson AZ. and visited us way back in the late 50's. I have to wonder how the heck they made that round trip, but they did.
Hello. Nice video. I also see a Lambretta scooter at the background. Can you please make a detailed video of that Lambretta scooter as well?. Greetings from India
My Dad's buddy, Dean Kohl, had a '60 Isetta new ($995!) He let it go back to the finance company because he hated it so much! This was NO car to climb grades!
WE HAD A MUSIC TEACHER IN OUR SCHOOL THAT HAD ONE OF THESE! HE WASNT A POPULAR TEACHER SO HE GOT MESSED WITH!! OUR TOWN HAD HERRINGBONE PARKING AND SEVERAL TIMES THE BIGGER HIGH SCHOOL BOYS WOULD PICK IT UP WITH THE REAR BUMPER AND TURN IT 90 DEGREES IN THE PARKING SPOT! THEN WHEN HE CAME BACK HE COULDNT OPEN HIS DOOR ! ONE DAY HE WAS PARKED NEXT TO A FLATBED TRUCK, AND SEVERAL FOOTBALL TEAM MEMBERS PICKED HIS CAR UP AND REPARKED IT ON THE TRUCK!!
The Steve Urkel-Carmodel. With the best regards from Bavaria, the home of BMW Isetta.
I thought the Isetta was actually an Italian Isa SPA built under license?

Thanks a lot bmw all the time for every idea. Converted to a car or bike
As a kid in the late 50s and early 60s, I would occasionally see these.

0pppppppppppp
Finally a reliable BMW.
Very cute! We could use more cars like this right now with the gas crunch :(
Then when somebody got killed in it you love you would be yelling to the press and a lawyer.
No I wouldn't cuz I know what I was buying to begin with classic cars have an inherent risk
This aint a car, its a motorcycle with a roof!
Wow, that is seriously cute.
Nice sound! Motor is on very good shape!

Is that a real car or just a model?
jens
It is a Flat 4 VW banjo steering wheel custom fit using a pre 67 VW bus steering wheel adapter.
This is impractical Design....
Gostei muito bom manter assim 👏👏👏
I see it's got Iowa plates. Where did you get it and does pass all of U.S.A.'s vehicle standards?
If Iowa is like South Dakota it’s not real hard to meet the standards.
If your not blocking the road your gold.
I want to gift this car to my wife

Very nice restoration, but man that thing is ugly.
EITHER JEFFY OR MAMMA
Simples e bonita
Thanks for not showing the complete shape of the car, not at least once...👎
Bet it gets good gas mileage.
👍👍👍🇺🇦
looks like a lawn mower.
🤣
Fyi The car is simply "STARTED" not this misleading inaccurate term of "firing up" To "fire up" would be to aim a firearm skywards and discharge it.
Sheesh! Fuss much??? 🤓🙄 Among car people "firing it up" means to start it.
