    Love the potholders, and your video couldn't have been better - It was excellent! I am making kitchen sets for my daughters (potholder pocket oven mitts, hanging towels, and dish soap bottle apron), and wanted to add some type of finger potholders. Your video was the first to come up in my You Tube search, and is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!

    If you use a "walking foot" your layers have much less chance of shifting as you sew because the foot works in conjunction with the feed dogs under the foot to pull the upper and lower layers of fabrics at the same time. With a regular foot it tends to push the upper layers forward making the upper layers shift and get misaligned. Walking feet are great for sewing multi layered fabrics and fabrics with a pile like velvet, velour, corduroy and faux furs.

    So darn cute! Can you please tell me, if I use the Therma Flec ( silver like ironing board cover, quilted ) do I have to use two pieces? Thank you, love these

    • @craftgenie7106
      @craftgenie7106  6 років тому

      I used insul brite in these, but I would imagine anything thermal would work just fine. if it has a metallic component (like insulbrite) make sure they are not used in the microwave

      I too have that silver-like ironing board cover fabric. I will layer quilt batting on the backside (I have iron), and see how that works. Will sew it today and repost to let all know if it works.

    Old multi layered napkins were used as mini finger rectangles,
    for me, then pressed FabricGlue gei can/did work too,per the
    directions and allowed to set. Otherwise, sewn scraps are for gifts.

    I make mine circular, using 9 inch fabric circles, 4 of them, with one being contrasting. I fold 2 of the circles in half to form the pockets and turn about a half of an inch under and topstitch it to eliminate the binding across same and showing the contrasting fabric circle. The two 9 inch pieces of batting, one of them heat resistant are in-between two pieces of the 9 inch s circles, with one of them being a contrasting fabric. All is held together with binding. Don't have to turn anything inside out when doing it this way.

    • @lizbee726

      Sounds good but lots of people don't like using binding. 👍😂👌
