OH MY GOD I JUST REALIZED If flowey is a metaphor for disconnecting with fiction over time Then gaster is a metaphor for getting lost in fiction They are both mirrors of what a player can become
Gaster was tasked with freeing the monsters from the underground. So it only makes sense that he would create a world where they live freely on the surface.
Oh my god wait. Castle town is essentially just Disney world. Of *course* other darkners can’t exist in other dark worlds (like how Ariel can’t really exist in the Star Wars universe) but they *can* exist in *only* in Castle Town (Disney World), a place named after its founder (the player/Walt Disney) a place where everyone can exist harmoniously, *the happiest place on earth*. A place where you can meet your favorite characters, go on rides, eat their food, even *sleep* there, there’s even a *castle!* A place where you can forget all your everyday problems, *a place where dreams come true*.
@@TheSkyGuy77 that reminds me! one of the pieces of dialogue in Castle town (I think it’s from the same rudin that tells you that castle town is named after the player?) says that (if I remember correctly) “this place runs on dreams, so make sure they’re good ones!” Or something to that effect. That *on top of* the fact that castle town is named after the player, which in and of itself is interesting since Ralsei was the only one in castle town before we came along, so it would make perfect sense (along with his weird 4th wall knowledge) for him to name it after us, and since Disney is named after its founder, that’s gotta mean *we literally made castle town*. Which makes me wonder if this will be revealed at a later point? Idk, I’m starting to ramble 😅
just realized that the fact that "gaster" is specifically six characters may have been intentional considering his stats and the fun value of mystery man
I’m probably just thinking too much about this now, but isn’t it interesting how Gaster takes over Toby’s accounts. Gaster overtakes his creator. Darkness overtakes its creator. Fantasy and fiction become blurred.
16:15 heres the thing, we know gaster is important, but theres something i don’t think people thought of: which gaster is doing what in deltarune? we cant really know, but we dont know if every gaster is doomed to shatter, or just undertale? if its just undertale where is deltarune gaster? and also which gaster is doing what? is undertale gaster (or a piece of him) doing this or deltarune gaster (or if shattered a piece of him) is at the beginning (yes its not proved, no i dont care)
I think Gaster didn't create the worlds of Deltarune themselves. I think he created the device (program) that connects us to it. Why? Because he wants to change a linear narrative into one with multiple endings. One that wasn't originally written by him. In essence, Gaster is a fanfic writer. Or an alternate universe creator.
8:48 Wait so does this mean that the Dark Worlds are trying to entice and lure people in so that they can’t get anything done in the Light World? IS EVERY DARKNER IN ON THIS!? IS LANCER SECRETLY EVIL? Nah I’m just kidding but it would be an interesting take. Great first episode by the way, can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
@@ChadRepson That is actually a really good point, I forgot about that dialogue where he “banishes” Kris and Susie from Castle Town until they finish their project.
Here's one thing I think could be REALLY important about the parallels between Deltarune's prophecy and Undertale's intro: In Undertale's intro, the character who is intentionally depitced to look like you, is in fact NOT you (well, it's not the character you CONTROL throughout the game). If we are to take that as a parallel too, then perhaps Kris, Susie, and Ralsei are not the heroes of the prophecy after all. I mean, after all- Ralsei isn't REALLY a "prince" of anything, is he? You know who IS? Lancer, as dumb as it sounds. We also know of one other human form that looks SHOCKINGLY similar to Kris- the Goner vessel created at the start of the game. We ALSO know of another monster who is relevant to the prophecy of the Delta Rune, Noelle. Point is, Deltarune can have MULTIPLE depictions of the same prophecy and still have it be technically true. This is where I believe the "only one ending" of the game is going- the ability to depict the prophecy of deltarune in different ways under different circumstances.
I like the idea of if sans has a connection to gaster The comment of " I know your type" can also serve to us as a reference to gaster himself and some characterization. Weather or not intentional it's fun to think about. Parallels will be made even if they are canonical or not
Another sip of Deltarune theory to keep me alive during this drought of new lore until Chapter 3+4 Thank you blessed theorist, cannot get enough of these vids🙏
Tippiest toppiest tier deltarune theory video presentation, period!!!! The care you take with ordering, introducing, and explaining new information is world class. This video barely felt 40 minutes long; it remained relaxed and easy to follow, yet packed in a lot of important points. I love that you so clearly tie in lesser known facts that have actually have huge implications into the larger picture, and alongside supporting and more widely known info. On top of everything, just knowing first two topics of this series, the subjects of your videos are far from cookie cutter, yet you were able to bring up so many key pieces of lore detail. I don't believe the subject of darkness has been covered from the angle you've presented (or at least one this lengthy and thorough), and people don't seem to have too much to say or speculate on when it comes to sans' and papyrus' connections to gaster. Also, I don't know if anyone has said this, but I wouldn't listen to anyone who may say that you cater too heavily to people who barely know anything about the games, I can tell this series will be EXCELLENT for those people and it's Not a bad thing to assume your audience has almost no knowledge. Anyways, I'm so excited hearing that you plan to have more than several installments expected in order to say your full piece about deltarune from every angle/with every topic you deem distinct and significant. Best of luck with everything, this channel should blow up should you choose to continue! ^w^
so i'm not the only one who's made the connection between Darkness in deltarune and the Void aspect in Homestuck, right? the game is so completely Voidbound

love it, thanks for talking about your thoughts on deltarune! recapping all these mostly-agreed-upon themes and theories is super helpful, and hearing your insights gave me a new perspective i didn't have before.
Honestly, I don’t really agree that Deltarune’s main theme is getting lost in fantasy. There’s just not a lot of evidence to me that this is the thing our main characters struggle with. I’d say escapism is a minor theme, with the main theme being control and and choice. After all, Kris struggles with the player controling them, Susie notably defies being controlled, Ralsei thinks his only purpose is to serve lightners, Noelle’s arc in chapter 2 is not letting herself be controlled by Queen, the secret bosses being themed around this, etc. I feel like the recurring line “kill or be killed” and “your choices don’t matter” both point to the major themes of the game, Undertale’s being violence and Deltarune’s being choice. But we only have 2 chapters out of 7 so this is hardly a full analysis of course.
Amazing Video. The Part where you compare Determination and Darkness was very interresting because that was the first time in have ever Seen Someone do it and the conclusion of the meaning of Darkness in Deltarune was really good. I am very excited for the following Parts.
